interc hange. When it is read y,

2. Go to Affix position label(s)
Upgrade other carrier (H/C only)
To  u p g r a d e  t h e  o t h e r  c a r r ie r,  lo c k t h e  SPE s w i t c h e s o n  t h e  D U PI N T t o  t h e  o t h e r 
carrier. 
NOTE:
The new ac tive c arrier resets (c old 2 restart). Wait until the log in p rompt 
ap p ears then log  in.
Rep eat the step s from Check the active tone-clock (H/C only)

Verify software version
NOTE:
Th e  Tape Resident
 field  shows the software load  numb er. Write it d own 
for use later.
If stand ard  reliab ility:
1. Type list configuration software-version 
and press 
En t e r to verify that the 
removab le media c ontains the Release 8 software. This takes ab out 2 
minutes.
If hig h or c ritic al reliab ility:
1. Type list configuration software-version long
 and  p ress 
En te r  to verify 
that the removab le media c ontains the Release 8 software.
Save Translations
1. Type save translations tape 
and press En t e r  to save translations to the 
new removab le med ia, whic h takes ab out 2 minutes.
Save Announcements (if necessary)
1. Type save announce
 tape
 and press En te r to save announc ements to the 
new removab le med ia.
Restore Disk
If stand ard  reliab ility:
1. Type restore disk full
 and  p ress 
En te r to write the new software to d isk. 
Release 8 system software is now resident on the d isk.
If hig h or c ritic al reliab ility:
2. Type restore disk full both
 and press 
En t e r to write the new software to 
disk. 
NOTE:
This c ommand  may take up  to 25 minutes to c omp lete. Until this 
c ommand  finishes, the system p rovid es no user feed b ac k on the 
system ac cess sc reen. Do not p ress 
En t e r while the c ommand  
exec utes. Doing  so c lears the terminal sc reen as the c ommand  
finishes, erasing any suc c ess or failure messag es the system may 
provide.

Upgrade Software 
This c ommand  c op ies the software from the removab le med ia to the system d isk 
and  takes ab out 15 minutes to c omp lete. 
For stand ard  reliab ility:
!CAUTION:
All c alls are d rop p ed —this is a service interrup tion.
1. Type upgrade software G3V8r.xx.x.xxx.x 
(entire alp hanumeric  string of 
new software version) and  p ress 
En te r. At the prompt, press En t e r to save 
translations.
For hig h or c ritic al reliab ility:
1. Type upgrade software G3V8r.xx.x.xxx.x no-calls 
(entire alp hanumeric  
string  of new software version) and  p ress 
En te r. At the prompt, press En t e r 
to save translations and  attemp t to p reserve c alls ac ross the interc hang e.
For all reliabilities:
2. After the system resets, log  in as craft
. 
3. Check for the Translation Corruption Detected
 message before 
p roc eed ing  with the up g rad e. If c orruption is d etec ted , refer to No 
Translations After Upgrade in Appendix B, ‘‘Troubleshooting  an Upgrade’’ 
to c orrec t the p rob lem. 
!CAUTION:
Do not c ontinue with the up g rad e until the translations errors are 
corrected. 
Reset SPE status (H/C only)
1. Type status SPE
 and press En te r. Wait until the Standby Handshake
 
field displays up, which takes about 3 minutes.

NOTE:

Set Daylight Savings Rules
You c an set up  to 15 c ustomized  d aylig ht saving s time rules. If you have c ab inets 
in several different time zones, you c an set up  rules for eac h on a loc ation b asis. 
A d aylig ht saving s time rule sp ec ifies the exac t time when you want to transition 
to and  from d aylig ht saving s time. It also sp ec ifies the inc rement at whic h to 
transition. 
NOTE:
The d efault d aylig ht saving s rule is 0
, no d aylig ht saving s.
