    p in-field  b loc k for slot “ 00” ) of b oth c arriers. See Figure 6-32
    . Connec t the 
    “UAK”  (up p er) connec tor to carrier “ B,”  and  connec t the “LAK” (lower) 
    c onnec tor to c arrier “ A.”
    !CAUTION:
    While installing  the ICC c ab le c onnec tors, be c areful not to b end  any 
    b ac kp lane p ins. Doub le c hec k eac h c onnec tion to verify that the 
    p ins are straig ht.
    NOTE:
    With a c onnec tor in eac h hand , flex the wires within the c ab le’s 
    sheath to form a usab le C-shap ed  c ab le.
    13. Install the ICCC c ab le (H600-182 G1) b etween c arriers “ B”  and  “ A.”  
    Connec t the c ab le to the “ ICCC”  p in-field  b loc k (b ehind  slot “ 01” ) of b oth 
    carriers. See Figure 6-32
    .
    14. Install the d up lic ation c ab le (WP91954 L1) b etween c arriers “ B”  and  “ A.”  
    Connec t the c ab le to the “ ICCD”  p in-field  b loc k (b ehind  slot “ 02” ) of b oth 
    carriers. See Figure 6-32
    .
    NOTE:
    The d up lic ation c ab le’s c onnec tors are keyed  to ensure p rop er 
    p ositioning on the p in-field  b loc k.

    15.Install the front trim p late on the “ B”  c arrier.
    16. Install the new p ower units into the “ B”  c arrier. The 631DA1 or 644A is 
    installed  on the left sid e, while the 631DB1 or 645B and  the 649A are 
    installed  on the rig ht side.
    17. Connec t the white p ower c ord s to the p ower units. The p ower c ord s are 
    eq uip p ed  with p lug s that are run throug h the slots in the front of eac h 
    carrier.
    Install Circuit Packs
    1. Install a new UN330B Dup lic ation Interfac e c irc uit p ac k into c arrier “ A.”  
    Use the d ec al as a g uid e.
    2. Install the new R8r c ontrol c irc uit p ac ks into c arrier “ B.”  Use the new d ec al 
    (provid ed  with the eq uipment) as a g uid e.
    3. Install the new TN570B Exp ansion Interfac e c irc uit p ac ks into eac h p ort 
    network, and  (if not d up lic ating  a switc h nod e c arrier) interc onnec t the 
    p ort networks with the fib er op tic  c ab les.
    4. For a c ritic al reliab ility R8r system, install a new TN771D Maintenanc e/Test 
    c irc uit p ac k into an availab le p ort slot of eac h EPN (if not alread y p resent).
    5. Install c irc uit p ac k b lanks in slots not eq uip p ed  with c irc uit p ac ks.

    Relocate Port Carrier B
    Refer to Add a Switch Node Carrier (High or Critical Reliability) to reloc ate the 
    removed port carrier.
    Connect Management Terminal or PC
    1.Behind  c ontrol c arrier “ A,”  disc onnec t the manag ement terminal or PC 
    c ab le from the “ TERM”  c onnec tor, and  rec onnec t the c ab le to the “ DOT”  
    (dup lic ation op tion terminal) c onnec tor.
    Reseat DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    1. Reseat the LAN Gateway assemb ly into its b ac kp lane c onnec tors. 
    Reseat DEFINITY AUDIX System
    1 . I f  a  D EFI N I TY AU D I X Sys t e m  re si d e s  in  t h e  PPN  o r  a n  EPN  (w h e re  PPN  
    p ort c arrier “ B”  was reloc ated ), reseat the AUDIX assemb ly to its 
    b ac kp lane c onnec tors.
    Power Up System
    1. At an EPN (where PPN p ort c arrier “ B”  was reloc ated ), set the main c irc uit 
    breaker to ON.
    2. At the PPN, set the main c irc uit b reaker to ON.
    3. The system p erforms a level 4 reb ooting  proc ess, load ing  the system 
    p rog ram and  d efault or c urrent translations from the disk. Reb ooting  takes 
    5 to 11 minutes.
    NOTE:
    Ig nore alarms for now.
    4. Typ e the reset system 4 
    and press 
    En t e r to c op y the translations from 
    removab le media to memory.
    5. Clear any alarms.
    6. Type save translation [both] 
    and press 
    En te r  if translation c hang es were 
    mad e in Step  8.
    7. Type restore disk [both] full
     and  press 
    En t e r to c op y the translations from 
    removab le media to d isk.
    8. Verify that the EMERGENCY TRANSFER CONTROL switc h is set to AUTO. 
    This restores the system to the normal operating  mode.

    Restart DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    1. Log  onto the DEFINITY LAN Gateway.
    2. When the main menu ap p ears, selec t 
    Maintenanc e.
    3. Select 
    Reset System from the Maintenanc e menu.
    4. Select 
    Restart System from the Reset System menu.
    Enable SPE Duplication
    1. If not also d up lic ating  switc h node c arriers, refer to Duplic ation-Related  
    Sys t e m  Pa r a m e t e r s  in  
    DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server 
    Release 8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e
    , to enab le Switc h Proc essing  Element 
    (SPE) duplication.
    Enable PNC Duplication
    1. For a c ritic al-reliab ility R8r system, type change system-parameters 
    customer-options
     and press 
    En te r. Use this sc reen to enable the Port 
    Network Connec tivity (PNC) dup lic ation op tion. 
    Resolve Alarms and Enable Alarm Origination
    1. Examine the alarm log . Resolve any alarms using  DEFINITY Enterp rise 
    Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8r
    . 
    2. If the Alarm Origination Activated
     field  ad ministration is alread y 
    set to y
    , b e sure to enab le Alarm Orig ination. Otherwise you d o not need  to 
    enab le Alarm Orig ination (p roc eed  to the next sec tion).
    3. Type change system-parameters maintenance
     and press 
    En t e r.
    Th e  Alarm Origination Activated
     field  was c hang ed to Alarm 
    Origination to OSS Numbers
     to sup p ort more than 1 OSS.
    4. Type first-only
     in this field  to enab le Alarm Orig ination (to the first OSS, 
    whic h should be INADS). 
    Be sure to enter y
     in b oth Cleared Alarm Notification
     and  
    Restart Notification
     fields. Press 
    En t e r.
    5. Type save translation spe-a disk
     and p ress

    NOTE:
    The INADS Datab ase Ad ministrator enab les Alarm Orig ination as p art of 
    the registration p roc ess.
    !WARNING:
    If you d o not enab le Alarm Orig ination when the c ustomer has p urc hased  a 
    servic es c ontrac t, the switc h will not rep ort any alarm to the TSC 
    automatic ally, c ausing the TSC to b e unab le to fulfill the servic es c ontrac t.

    Add a Switch Node Carrier (Standard 
    Reliability)
    To upgrade to a standard reliability R8r with Center Stage Switch (CSS), a switch 
    nod e c arrier is ad d ed  either to an emp ty “ E”  c arrier p osition of an existing  
    multic arrier p ort network or to the “ D”  c arrier position.
    NOTE:
    To avoid  moving a p ort c arrier, the p referred  p rac tic e is to plac e the new 
    switch nod e c arrier in an emp ty c arrier p osition.
    Service Interruption
    1. Sinc e the ad d ition of the switc h node c arrier req uires a servic e 
    interrup tion, notify the c ustomer in ad vanc e as to when the ad d ition will 
    take p lac e.
    Verify System Status
    1. Before p roc eed ing , examine the system for alarms and  c orrec t all 
    p rob lems. The system must b e alarm-free.
    Disable Alarm Origination
    1. Type change system-parameters maintenance
     and press En t e r.
    2. Make a note of the Alarm Origination Activated
     field  
    ad ministration. If the feature is enab led , typ e n
     in this field  to disab le 
    Alarm Orig ination. 
    !WARNING:
    If you d o not d isab le Alarm Orig ination b efore making  c hang es to the 
    switc h, the switc h may g enerate alarms, resulting  in unnec essary 
    troub le tic kets. Reduc ing  red und ant and  unnec essary troub le 
    tic kets.
    NOTE:
    For some releases of the software, d isab le Cleared Alarm 
    Notification
     and Restart Notification
     field s b efore

    Save Translations
    1. Log  in at the manag ement terminal.
    2. Type save translation disk
     and press 
    En te r. This instruc ts the system to 
    take all translation information in memory and  write it to the d isk.
    3. If the system c ontains a TN750/B Announc ement c irc uit p ac k, type 
    display announcements
     and  p ress 
    En t e r.
    4. If administered  rec ord ed  announc ements are listed , typ e list 
    configuration software-version
     and  p ress 
    En t e r. Chec k sc reen 2 to find  
    out when the announc ements were last saved . Save the c urrent 
    announc ements b y typ ing  save announcements disk
     and pressing 
    En t e r.
    5. Type backup disk
     and  p ress 
    En t e r. This instruc ts the system to b ac kup  the 
    c urrent information on d isk to the system tap e(s).
    6. Up d ate b ac kup  tape(s), if required .
    Shut Down DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    If a DEFINITY LAN Gateway system resid es in the c ontrol c ab inet to b e 
    up g rad ed , p rep are to shut d own the DEFINITY LAN Gateway assemb ly and  
    allow the disk to c omp letely sp in d own. 
    !CAUTION:
    Make sure that you save the system p arameters if you p lan to reuse the 
    c urrent system.
    !WARNING:
    Neg lec ting  to shut d own a DEFINITY LAN Gateway assemb ly b efore 
    p owering  d own the system c ab inet where it resides c an d amage the LAN 
    Gateway d isk.
    1. Log  onto the DEFINITY LAN Gateway. See the DEFINITY Communic ations 
    System Generic  3 Installation, Ad ministration and  Maintenanc e of 
    CallVisor ASAI over the DEFINITY LAN Gateway
    .
    2. When the main menu ap p ears, selec t 
    Maintenanc e.
    3. Select 
    Reset System from the Maintenanc e menu.
    4. Select 
    Sh u t d o w n from the Res et Sy ste m menu.
    5. Unseat the LAN Gateway assemb ly from its b ac kp lane c onnec tors.

    Shut Down DEFINITY AUDIX System
    1. Shut down the AUDIX assemb ly and  allow the d isk to c omp letely sp in 
    d own. Refer to ‘‘DEFINITY AUDIX Power Procedures’’ on page 6-141
    .
    !WARNING:
    Neg lec ting  to shut d own an AUDIX assembly b efore p owering  d own 
    the system c ab inet where it resides c an damag e the AUDIX d isk.
    2. Unseat the AUDIX assemb ly from its b ac kp lane c onnec tors.
    Power Down Cabinet
    1. At the c ab inet that is rec eiving  the new switc h nod e c arrier, set the main 
    c irc uit b reaker to OFF.
    Remove Doors 
    1. Remove the front and  rear d oors from the c ab inet where the switc h nod e 
    c arrier will b e installed .
    Disconnect Ground Cables
    Skip these steps if a switch node carrier is being added to an empty carrier 
    p osition.
    1. Lab el the g round  c ab les assoc iated  with the p ort c arrier to b e removed .
    2. Disc onnec t the g round  c ab les from the top  of the port c arrier to b e 
    removed . Allow the c ab les to hang  d own for now.
    Remove Circuit Packs from Port Carrier D
    Skip these steps if a switch node carrier is being added to an empty carrier 
    p osition.
    1.To ensure that circuit packs and power units in the “D”  carrier are properly 
    rep lac ed , lab el eac h c omp onent with its slot numb er.
    2. Disc onnec t the p ower c ords from the p ower units in the “ D”  c arrier.
    3. Remove all c irc uit p ac ks and p ower units from c arrier “ D.”  Store the c irc uit 
    p ac ks in static -p roof p ac kag ing .
    4. Remove the c irc uit p ac k b lanks from slots that d o not c ontain c irc uit 
    p acks.
    5. Remove the front trim p late from the “ D”  c arrier b y p ulling  it straig ht off.

    Remove Port Carrier D
    Skip these steps if a switch node carrier is being added to an empty carrier 
    p osition.
    NOTE:
    Note the p osition of the TDM/LAN c ab les b efore d isc onnec ting .
    1.If a switc h node c arrier is b eing  installed  in the “ D”  p osition of an EPN, 
    remove the TDM/LAN c ab le from b etween the “ D”  and  “ A”  c arriers.
    For other EPNs or the PPN, d isc onnec t 1 end  of the TDM/LAN c ab le 
    (between the “D” and “A” carriers) from the “D” carrier.
    2. Remove the ZAHF4 TDM/LAN b us terminator from slot “ 21”  of the “ D”  
    carrier.
    3. Disc onnec t 1 end  of the 8 g round  strap s (b etween the “ D”  and  “ E”  
    carriers) from the “ D” c arrier (See Figure 6-33
    ). These strap s will b e 
    rec onnec ted  to the new “ D”  c arrier.
    4. Disc onnec t the 8 g round  straps from the D c arrier (between the “ D”  and  
    “ A”  c arriers or the D c arrier and  the enhanc ed  fan unit—see Figure 6-33
    ). 
    Rec onnec t the 8 g round  strap s to the D c arrier.
    5. Disc onnec t the “ P1”  (small 9-p in) c onnec tor from the “ D”  c arrier. Move the 
    c ab le into a p osition where it will not interfere with removing  the c arrier.
    6. Remove the 4 sc rews (top  2 first) hold ing  the “ D”  c arrier to the c ab inet 
    frame. Use a long -hand le sc rewd river or 5/16-inc h soc ket with a 10-inc h 
    extension.
    7. Behind  the “ D”  c arrier in a “ DEFINITY style”  c ab inet, remove the 2 sc rews 
    hold ing the “ D”  c arrier to the c abinet frame.

    framework and  if too muc h pressure is ap p lied  in removing  the 
    carrier.
