Type save translation and press En te r to write all translation information from memory to the d isk, whic h takes ab out 2 minutes. Save Announcements (if necessary) NOTE: The TN750C Announc ement c irc uit p ac k stores announc ements in nonvolatile memory; saving the announc ements is op tional. 1. If the PPN c ontains a TN750/B Announc ement c irc uit p ac k, typ e display announcements and p ress En te r. 2. If administered rec ord ed announc ements are listed , typ e save announcements cabinet carrier slot and press En t e r. For example, 01 D03. This takes ab out 30 minutes. To p revent sc hed uled d aily maintenanc e from interfering with the up d ate or up g rad e, typ e change system-parameters maintenance and p ress En t e r. 2. If sc heduled maintenanc e has b eg un, set the Stop Time field to 1 minute after the c urrent time. or If sc hed uled maintenanc e has not b eg un, set the Start Time field to a time after the upgrade is completed. For example, if you start the upgrade at 8:00 p .m. and the up g rad e takes 90 minutes, set the Start Time field to 21:30. !CAUTION: If you d o not d isab le Alarm Orig ination, the system may g enerate alarms, resulting in unnec essary troub le tic kets. 3. Type neither in the Alarm Origination to OSS Numbers field and p ress En t e r . NOTE: For some software load s, set the Alarm Origination Activated field to n and set the Cleared Alarm Notification and Restart Notification fields to disable or n b efore pressing En t e r. Reconfigure the Tape (G3rV2, V3 R31.0 and Earlier) NOTE: Do not issue the list configuration software command before reconfiguring the removable media. For some software load s, use 3-mem instead of large If stand ard reliab ility: 1. Type configure tape large and press En te r to reconfigure the bac kup removab le med ia for the 2 TN1650B Memory c irc uit pac ks. This c ommand takes ab out 1 minute to c omp lete.

Type configure tape spe-a large and press En t e r to rec onfig ure the removable media in c ontrol c arrier “ A” for 2 TN1650B Memory c irc uit p ac ks. This c ommand takes ab out 1 minute to c omp lete. 2. Type configure tape spe-b large and p ress En te r to rec onfigure the removab le media in c ontrol c arrier “ B” for 2 TN1650B Memory c irc uit p ac ks. This c ommand takes ab out 1 minute to c omp lete. Check Link Status 1. Type display communication-interface links and p ress En te r. Write d own all enab led links. 2. Type status link number and p ress En t e r. Rep eat this step for all links. 3. Write d own whic h links are in servic e. Disable TTI NOTE: Do this step only if the Terminal Translation Initialization (TTI) is enab led . !CAUTION: If you d o not d isab le the TTI, the translations c an b e c orrup ted . Make sure the ISDN is in servic e. If not, try to b usy out and release the ISDN D-c hannel/link to b ring the ISDN trunks b ac k into servic e. 1. Type change system-parameters features and press En t e r. 2. On the sec ond sc reen, set the TTI Enabled? field to n to d e-ac tivate the TTI feature. Check Disk Drive 1. Type list configuration control and press En t e r to c hec k the vintag e of the d isk drive. If the d rive is V4 or later, g o to Check TTI Status . or If the d rive is not V4 or later, g o to Install Disk Drive (if not TN1657 V4 or earlier).

N e v e r re p la c e t h e a c t iv e a n d stand b y d isk drives at the same time. 1. Type busyout host-adapter [a | b ] and press En t e r to p revent other ap p lic ations from ac c essing the d isk or removab le med ia. 2. Remove the existing TN1657 Disk Drive c irc uit p ac k and p lac e it in antistatic material. 3. Insert a new TN1657 c irc uit p ac k into the DISK DRIVE slot. 4. To p rop erly seat the c irc uit p ac k, p ush firmly on the front of the fac ep late until the latc h reac hes the b ottom rail of the c arrier. Then c lose the latc h until it is fully engaged. 5. Type release host-adapter [a | b ] and p ress En te r to release the d isk from the maintenanc e-b usyout c ond ition and p ut it b ac k into servic e. 6. Type reset host-adapter [a | b ] and press En te r to allow the d isk to sp in up . 7. Type status spe and press En t e r to verify that the d isk is now in servic e. NOTE: If the disk fails to return to servic e, rep eat Step s 1, 3, 4, and 5. For hig h or c ritic al reliab ility, rep eat step s 1 throug h 7 on the ac tive c arrier. Restore Disk NOTE: Until this c ommand finishes, the system p rovid es no user feed b ac k on the manag ement terminal sc reen. Do not p ress En t e r while the c ommand exec utes. Doing so c auses the terminal sc reen to c lear as the c ommand finishes; erasing any suc c ess or failure messag es the system may p rovid e. If stand ard reliab ility: 1. Type restore disk full and p ress En te r to c op y the information on the removab le media to d isk, whic h takes ab out 30 minutes. If hig h or c ritic al reliab ility: 1. Type restore disk full both and press En t e r.

Type status TTI and p ress En te r. Wait until the Percent Complete field shows 100% . Busyout MMI Circuit Packs (H/C only) !CAUTION: Multimed ia-to-voic e station c alls are not p reserved on an up g rade. Failure to b usy-out the TN787 Multimed ia Interfac e (MMI) c irc uit p ac ks results in unusab le TN787 and TN788 Multimed ia Voic e Cond itioner p orts. 1. Type display system-parameters customer-options and press En t e r. On sc reen 2 und er the Multimed ia Call Hand ling (MMCH) op tions, c hec k the Basic and Enhanced fields. 2. If either the Basic or Enhanced field is y , typ e list configuration all and p ress En t e r to loc ate all MMI (TN787) c irc uit p ac ks. 3. If there are MMI c irc uit p ac ks, typ e busyout board cabinet carrier slot and p ress En t e r to remove the c irc uit p ac ks from servic e. Lock the active SPE (H/C only) 1. Type status spe and press En t e r to d etermine whic h c ontrol c arrier is ac tive or ob serve the c ontrol c arrier LEDs. NOTE: For hig h or c ritic al reliab ility systems, we rec ommend that you rep lac e the c irc uit pac ks in the stand b y c arrier first. !CAUTION: When rep lac ing any hardware, b e sure to g round yourself against elec trostatic d isc harg e (ESD) b y wearing a g round ed wrist strap . 2. Move the SPE-SELECT switc hes on b oth Dup lic ation Interfac e (DUPINT) circuit packs, one at a time, to the ac tive c arrier.

Type status port-network 1 and verify that the Tone-Cloc k is in the same c a r r ie r a s t h e a c t i v e SPE a n d t h a t t h e Service State field shows in . NOTE: This takes 1 minute to c omp lete. If the servic e state is inc orrec t, rep eat the c ommand until this c ond ition is met. If the ac tive Tone-Cloc k has not migrated to the ac tive c arrier after 1 minute, then a Tone-Cloc k p rob lem exists. Refer to the TDM-CLK Maintenanc e Ob jec ts sec tion of the DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8r b ook to resolve any p rob lems. Power Down the Processor Carrier !CAUTION: Do not p ower d own the whole c ab inet; it is not nec essary. For stand ard reliab ility, p ower d own the p roc essor c arrier. This c auses a servic e interrup tion. For high or critical reliability, power down the standby carrier. 1. To power down the processor carrier, remove the power plug from the left sid e of the c arrier then remove the p ower p lug from the right side of the carrier. Remove the Circuit Packs NOTE: More detailed information on removing and add ing c irc uit p ac ks is in Chapter 6, ‘‘Adding or Removing Cabinet Hardware’’ . 1. Remove the b lank fac ep late next to the MSSNET slot in the c arrier. 2. Remove the UN332B circuit pack from the carrier and place it in antistatic packing material. 3. Remove the tap e from the tap e d rive. 4. Remove the TN1656 tap e d rive and p lac e it in antistatic p ac king material.

Then c lose the latc h until it is fully engaged. 1. Insert the TN1650B memory c irc uit p ac k in memory slot 3. NOTE: If a hig h or c ritic al reliab ility system, install the TN1650B at the same time as the op tic al d rive. Note that add ing memory to the stand by SPE c a u s e s a n e rro r b e c a u s e t h e m e m o r y n u m b e r b e t w e e n t h e standb y and ac tive c arriers does not matc h. 2. Insert the UN332C c irc uit p ac k into the MSSNET slot. 3. Rep lac e the b lank fac ep late next to the MSSNET c irc uit p ac k. 4. Insert the TN2211 optical drive (Figure 1-1 ) into the rig ht most TAPE DRIVE slot. It only takes up 2 slots. 5. Plac e a b lank fac eplate over the left most TAPE DRIVE slot. Figure 1-1. NOTE: Make sure the formatted removab le med ia is not write-p rotec ted b efore p lac ing it into the op tic al drive (see Figure 1-2). Figure 1-2. Do not touch the disk inside the cartridge. Power Up the Processor Carrier 1. To restore p ower to the p roc essor c arrier, insert the p ower p lug on the right side of the c arrier then insert the p ower p lug on the left sid e of the carrier. If hig h or c ritic al reliab ility: 2 . M o n it o r t h e SPE a s it re b o o t s b y o b se r vi n g t h e L ED s a n d t h e t e r m in a l. I t is p owered up when the YELLOW LED on the Proc essor c irc uit p ac k b links in a stead y state, whic h takes ab out 10 minutes. Unlock the Active SPE (H/C only) 1. Move the SPE SELECT switc hes to the AUTO position one at a time. 2.
