    CCS or hundred call seconds
A unit of c all traffic . Call traffic for a fac ility is scanned every 100 second s. If the fac ility is b usy, it is
assumed to have b een busy for the entire sc an interval. There are 3600 sec ond s p er hour. The
Roman numeral for 100 is the c ap ital letter C. The ab b reviation for c all seconds is CS. Therefore,
100 call sec ond s is ab b reviated CCS. If a fac ility is b usy for an entire hour, then it is said to have
been busy for 36 CCS. See also
    Er la n g.
    capability
A req uest or indic ation of an operation. For example,
Third Party Make Call is a req uest for setting

Capability groups denote association types. For example,
Call Control is a typ e of assoc iation that
allows certain func tions (the ones in the cap ab ility g roup) to be p erformed over this typ e of
assoc iation. Also referred to as ad ministration group s or ap p lic ation servic e elements (ASEs).

condition oc c urs. ASAI cause values fall into two c od ing standards: Cod ing Standard 0 inc lud es
any c ause values that are p art of AT&T and CCITT ISDN spec ifications; Coding stand ard 3
inc lud es any other ASAI c ause values. This d ocument uses a notation for c ause value where the
cod ing stand ard for the c ause is g iven first, then a slash, then the c ause value. Example: CS0/100
is cod ing stand ard 0, c ause value 100.
