    to INADS
    1. Get the DOSS order number of the upgrade from the project manager and 
    ask the reg ional Customer Software Ad ministration to c omp lete the step s 
    in the shad ed  b ox. See ‘‘Where to Call for Tec hnic al Sup p ort’’ on p ag e -xx
     
    for telep hone numb ers.
    NOTE:
    As p art of the system reg istration p roc ess, the INADS Datab ase 
    Ad ministrator enab les Alarm Orig ination.
    2. When ad ministration is c omp leted , log  in as craft
     at the Login:
     prompt.
    init login administration:
    1. Log in as init
    .
    2. Type change system-parameters customer-options
     and press 
    En te r 
    to verify that the c ustomer op tions are p roperly set.
    3. Go to sc reen 6, QSIG Op tional Features, and  set the Basic Call 
    Setup

     if the customer was using Supplementary Services 
    Protoc ol b  or d  on an ISDN-PRI trunk g roup  b efore the up g rad e.
    4. Type change system-parameters offer-options

    5. If the Activate Offer

    Save Translations
    1. Type save translation
     and press En te r to g et up g rad ed  translations onto 
    d isk. If the translations were c orrup ted  d uring  the up g rad e, the following  
    error message displays when logging in:

    Upgrade Cabinets
    An existing  universal mod ule c ab inet is always up g rad ed  to an EPN. 
    Required Hardware
    The eq uip ment in Table 5-14 must be on-site before the upgrade begins. To 
    plac e a claim for missing equipment, as part of the Streamlined Implementation 
    p roc ess, c all “ 1-800-772-5409”  or the numb er p rovided  b y your Luc ent 
    Tec hnolog ies rep resentative.

    Check Link Status

    Disable TTI
    !CAUTION:
    If you d o not d isab le the TTI, the translations c an b e c orrup ted .
    1. Make sure the ISDN is in servic e. If not, attempt to b usy out and release 
    the ISDN D-c hannel/link. This will b ring  the ISDN trunks b ac k into servic e.
    2. Type change system-parameters features
     and press 
    En t e r. 
    3. On the sec ond  sc reen, set the Enabled?
     field  to n
     to p revent the TTI 
    feature from ac tivating .
    Power Down G2 System
    At the power d istribution unit, set the main c irc uit b reaker to OFF.
    Install Power-Failure Transfer Ground Wire
    !CAUTION:
    To avoid  c ontaminating  sing le-p oint g round , d o not c onnec t the g round  wire 
    while the system is p owered  up .
    1. Connec t 1 end  of a 10 AWG (#25) (2.6 mm2) wire either to pin 49 of the 
    c onnec ting b loc k or to p in 49 of the CAP (c ab le ac c ess p anel) assoc iated 
    with the p ower-failure transfer p anel.
    2. Route the op p osite end  of the wire to an ap p roved  g round  sourc e and  
    c onnec t.

    Disconnect Cables
    1. With the c ab le retainer in front of you and  the p art numb er visib le (4B or 
    4C), loc ate the slot that is almost vertic al. This slot is ad jac ent to the p art 
    numb er. Insert a flat b lad e sc rewd river with a 1/4-inc h b lad e into the slot 
    and  twist. The retainer will snap  op en easily. Remove the c ab le.
    2. Disconnect previously labeled c ables assoc iated with the carrier to be 
    removed .
    3.Behind  a “ DEFINITY style”  c ab inet, remove the b ac k d oors from the 
    c ab inet.
    4. Behind  a p reviously up graded  c ab inet, remove all of the b ac k panels. 
    (Two d ifferent typ es of sc rews hold  the b ac k p anels to the c ab inet. The 
    #10 sc rews c an b e removed  with a sc rewd river or a 1/4-inc h soc ket. The 
    #12 screws c an be removed with a sc rewdriver or a 5/16-inch soc ket.)
    Remove Circuit Packs from Module Control
    Carriers A and B
    1. To ensure that p ower units in the “ A”  and  “ B”  c arriers are p rop erly 
    replaced, label each power unit with its slot number.
    2. Disc onnec t the p ower c ords from the p ower units in the “ A”  and  “ B”  
    carriers.
    3. Remove all c irc uit p ac ks and  p ower units from c arrier “ A.”  Store the c irc uit 
    p ac ks in the static -p roof p ac kag ing .
    4. Remove all c irc uit p ac ks from c arrier “ B.”  Store the c irc uit p ac ks in the 
    static -proof p ac kag ing .
    5. Remove the c irc uit p ac k b lanks from slots that d o not c ontain c irc uit 
    p acks.
    6. Remove the front trim p late from the “ B”  c arrier b y p ulling  it straig ht off. 
    Then remove the front trim p late from the “ A”  c arrier.
    Remove CURL from Module Control Carrier A
    Remove the CFY1 c urrent limiter (CURL) from the p in-field  b loc k marked  “ CURL”  
    on the “ A”  c arrier. The CURL will b e reused  in the DEFINITY ECS Release 8 EPN.
    NOTE:
    Note the p osition of the c omp onents on the left side of the CURL.
    NOTE:
    Verify that the CURL meets the minimum usab le vintag e req uirements.

    Remove Module Control Carriers A and B
    1.Remove the TDM/LAN c ab le from b etween the “ A”  and  “ B”  c arriers. See 
    Figure 5-23
    . This c ab le will b e reused .
    2. Disc onnec t 1 end  of the TDM/LAN c ab le (b etween the “ A”  and  “ D”  
    c arriers) from the “ A”  c arrier. Leave the other end  c onnec ted  to the “ D”  
    c arrier, and  move the c ab le into a p osition so that it will not interfere with 
    removing  the “ A”  c arrier.
    NOTE:
    Note the p osition of the TDM/LAN c ab le b efore d isc onnec ting .
    3. Disc onnec t 1 end  of the TDM/LAN c ab le (b etween the “ B”  and  “ C”  
    c arriers) from the “ B”  c arrier. Leave the other end  c onnec ted  to the “ C”  
    c arrier, and  move the c ab le into a p osition so that it will not interfere with 
    removing  the “ B”  c arrier.
    !CAUTION:
    When removing the TDM/LAN c ab les from a previously up g rad ed  
    c arrier, b e c areful that none of the short p iec es of shrink tub ing c ome 
    off the 4 c orner p ins of the p in-field  b loc k. Otherwise, when the new 
    eq uip ment is c onnec ted, -48 volts c ould  short to g round .
    4. Remove and  retain the 8 g round strap s from b etween the “ A”  and  “ B”  
    carriers. See Figure 5-24
    .
    5. Disconnect 1 end of the 8 ground straps from between the “A” and “D”  
    c arriers. These strap s will rec onnec t to the new “ A”  c arrier.
    6. Disconnect 1 end of the 8 ground straps from between the “B” and “C”  
    c arriers. These strap s will rec onnec t to the new “ B”  c arrier.
    7. Disc onnec t the “ P1”  (small 9-pin) c onnec tor and  the “ P2”  (larg e 38-p in) 
    c onnec tor from the “ A”  c arrier. See Figure 5-25
    . Move the c ab les into a 
    p osition where they will not interfere with removing  the c arrier.
    8. Slid e the latc h up , and  d isc onnec t the “ P1”  (small 9-p in) c onnec tor from 
    the “ B”  c arrier. Move the c ab le into a p osition where it will not interfere with 
    removing  the c arrier.
    9. Disc onnec t and  remove the ICC c ab les. See Figure 5-23
    . They will not b e 
    reused.
    10. Remove the fan trim p late by p ulling  it straig ht off.
    11. Clean or rep lac e the air filter (403326820) if nec essary.
    12. In front of c arrier, remove the 4 sc rews (top  2 first) hold ing  the “ B”  c arrier 
    to the c ab inet frame. Use a long -hand le sc rewd river or 5/16-inc h soc ket 
    with a 10-inc h extension.
    13. Behind  the c arrier, remove the 2 sc rews hold ing  the “ B”  c arrier’s rear 
    c onnec tor p anel to the c ab inet frame.

    14. Slid e the c arrier forward  1 to 2 inc hes; then, from the b ac k, b e sure that no 
    c ab les or wiring  harnesses are c aug ht on the c ab inet/c arrier framework.
    !CAUTION:
    Cab les and  wiring harnesses c an be d amag ed  if they c atc h on the 
    framework and  if too muc h pressure is ap p lied  in removing  the 
    carrier.
    15. Remove the c arrier b y slid ing  it out the front of the c ab inet.
    16.Rep eat Step s 12 through 15 for the “ A”  c arrier.
    17. On p ort c arrier J58890BB-1, c onnec t the TDM c ab le or the TDM 
    terminator to Slot 02. On p ort c arriers J58890BB-2 and  J58890BB-3, 
    c onnec t the TDM c ab les or the TDM terminator to Slot 01. If the port 
    c arrier has J58890BB-1 
    and J58890BB-2 p rinted on it, treat it as a 
    J58890BB-1.
