    Save Translations
    1. Log  in at the manag ement terminal.
    2. If the system is hig h- or c ritic al-reliab ility, typ e status spe
     and press 
    En te r  
    to verify that the stand b y SPE is refreshed  and  that the stand b y d isk is in 
    servic e.
    3. Type save translation [spe-a 
    or both] disk
     and press 
    En t e r. This 
    c ommand  instruc ts the system to take all translation information in 
    memory and  write it to the d isk(s).
    4. If the MCC p ort network c ontains a TN750 Announc ement c irc uit p ac k, 
    type display announcements
     and press 
    En t e r.
    If administered  rec ord ed  announc ements are listed , typ e list 
    configuration software-version
     and  p ress 
    En t e r. Chec k sc reen 2 to find  
    out when the announc ements were last saved .
    Save the c urrent announc ements b y typ ing  save announcements
     and 
    p ressing  
    En t e r.
    5. Type backup disk [spe-a 
    or both]
     and  p ress 
    En te r. This c ommand  
    instruc ts the system to b ac kup  the c urrent information on disk to the 
    system tap e(s).
    6. Up d ate b ac kup  tape(s), if required .
    Shut Down DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    If a DEFINITY LAN Gateway system resid es in the c ontrol c ab inet to b e 
    up g rad ed , p rep are to shut d own the DEFINITY LAN Gateway assemb ly and  
    allow the disk to c omp letely sp in d own. 
    !CAUTION:
    Make sure that you save the system p arameters if you p lan to reuse the 
    c urrent system.
    !WARNING:
    Neg lec ting  to shut d own a DEFINITY LAN Gateway assemb ly b efore 
    p owering  d own the system c ab inet where it resides c an d amage the LAN 
    Gateway d isk.
    1. Unseat the LAN Gateway assemb ly from its b ac kp lane c onnec tors in the 
    carrier.
    2. Log  onto the DEFINITY LAN Gateway. See the
     DEFINITY Communic ations 
    System Generic  3 Installation, Ad ministration and  Maintenanc e of 
    CallVisor ASAI over the DEFINITY LAN Gateway
    .
    3. When the main menu ap p ears, selec t 
    Maintenanc e.
    4. Select 
    Reset System from the Maintenanc e menu.
    5. Select 
    Sh u t d o w n from the Res et Sy ste m menu.

    Shut Down DEFINITY AUDIX System
    1. If a DEFINITY AUDIX resides in the MCC p ort network to b e up g rad ed , 
    shut d own the AUDIX assemb ly and  allow the d isk to c ompletely sp in 
    d own. Refer to ‘‘DEFINITY AUDIX Power Procedures’’ on page 6-141
    .
    !WARNING:
    Neg lec ting  to shut d own an AUDIX assembly b efore p owering  d own 
    the system c ab inet where it resides c an damag e the AUDIX d isk.
    2. Unseat the AUDIX assemb ly from its b ac kp lane c onnec tors.
    Power Down MCC Port Network
    1. At the MCC p ort network, set the main c irc uit b reaker to OFF.
    Install Port Carrier
    1. Open the rear d oors.
    2. Remove the b lank p ort c arrier p anel by pushing  outward  on panel from the 
    rear of the c ab inet until the p anel c lears the 4 retaining p ins on the c ab inet 
    frame. See Figure 6-49
    .
    3. Use a sc rewd river to loosen and  remove the 4 retaining  p ins from the 
    c ab inet frame.
    4. Alig n the c arrier throug h the front of the system c ab inet with the 4 p ilot 
    holes on c ab inet frame.
    NOTE:
    Support the carrier by the molded-in support pins above the top 
    mounting  holes.
    5. Insert self-tapp ing  sc rews in the p ilot holes and  tighten.
    6. Attac h the mag netic ally-held nomenc lature panel to front of c arrier.
    7. At the rear, install 8 g round ing  jump ers from the adjac ent b ac kp lane to the 
    new c arrier b ac kp lane wiring  (Figure 6-50
     and  Figure 6-51).
    8. Connec t a 9-p in D sub miniature p lug  on rig ht sid e of c ab inet to P1 
    c onnec tor on c arrier. If nec essary, c ut the tie wrap  holding  the interc ab inet 
    c ab le to the up rig ht in the area of the c arrier b eing  installed.
    9. Connec t the TDM/LAN c ab le to the newly installed  p ort c arrier. See Figure 
    6-52, Figure 6-53, Figure 6-54, or Figure 6-55 and Table 6-11.

    10. Install a 631AR, 631WA1, 631DA1, or 644A p ower unit in the leftmost slot 
    and  a 631BR, 631WB1, 631DB1, 645B, or 649A p ower unit in the 
    rig ht-most slot of installed  p ort c arrier as follows:
    a. Set the c irc uit b reaker on the p ower unit to be ad d ed  to OFF.
    b. Move locking slide on power unit to its leftmost position and open 
    the lever.
    c . Alig n and  slid e the p ower unit into slot in the c arrier until some 
    resistance is felt.
    d . Lift the loc king lever upward  until it latc hes.
    e. Move the loc king  slid e on p ower unit to its rig htmost p osition.
    f. Connec t a p ower c ord  insid e the c ab inet to the outlet on the p ower 
    unit.
    g . Set the c irc uit b reaker on the p ower unit to ON.
    11. Install a TN736 p ower c onverter in the slot next to the 631AR p ower 
    c onverter or a TN752 p ower c onverter in the slot next to the 631WA1 
    p ower c onverter on the left sid e of the c arrier.
    NOTE:
    The TN736 is not required  when the 631DB1 p ower unit is used in 
    the J58890B-2 or J58890B-3 p ort c arriers. It is req uired  in the 
    J58890B-1 p ort c arrier reg ardless of whic h 631 p ower unit is 
    p rovid ed . Use the TN752 or TN755B if the system is eq uip p ed  with 
    neon messag e waiting .
    12. Install the p ort c irc uit p ac ks in the c arrier.
    13. Connec t the AC/DC p ower c ord s loc ated  insid e the c ab inet to the p ower 
    units.
    14. Install the rear p anels around  the p ort c arrier.
    15. Install c ab les from the p ort c arrier to the MDF.
    16. Install the c ab le ac c ess panel, as req uired .
    Reseat DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    1. Reseat the LAN Gateway assemb ly into its b ac kp lane c onnec tors in the 
    carrier.
    Reseat DEFINITY AUDIX System
    1. Reseat the AUDIX assemb ly into its bac kp lane c onnec tors.

    Power Up MCC Port Network
    1. At the MCC p ort network, set the main c irc uit b reaker to ON.
    2. The system p erforms a level 4 reb ooting  proc ess, load ing  the system 
    p rog ram and  d efault translations from the d isk. Reb ooting  takes 5 to 11 
    minutes.
    3.Refer to “ Initialization and  Rec overy”  and  “ LED Interp retation”  c hap ters in 
    DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for 
    R8 r
    , for c irc uit pac k LED ind ic ations and  manag ement terminal d isplays 
    that occ ur during system reboot.
    4. After the system reb oot is finished  and  all troub le c leared , verify that the 
    EMERGENCY TRANSFER CONTROL switc h is set to AUTO. This restores 
    the system to the normal op erating  mod e.
    Restart DEFINITY LAN Gateway System
    1. Log  onto the DEFINITY LAN Gateway. 
    2. When the main menu ap p ears, selec t 
    Maintenanc e.
    3. Select 
    Reset System from the Maintenanc e menu.
    4. Select 
    Restart System from the Reset System menu.
    Enter Added Translations
    1. Enter ad ded  translation d ata as ap p lic ab le using  D EFINITY En terp ris e 
    Communic ations Server Release 8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e
    .
    Resolve Alarms and Enable Alarm Origination
    1. Examine the alarm log . Resolve any alarms using  DEFINITY Enterp rise 
    Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8r
    .
    2. If the Alarm Origination Activated
     field  ad ministration is alread y 
    set to y
    , b e sure to enab le Alarm Orig ination. Otherwise you d o not need  to 
    enab le Alarm Orig ination (p roc eed  to the next sec tion).
    3. Type change system-parameters maintenance
     and press 
    En t e r.
    Th e  Alarm Origination Activated
     field  was c hang ed to Alarm 
    Origination to OSS Numbers

    If you d o not enab le Alarm Orig ination when the c ustomer has 
    purc hased a services contract, the switc h will not report any alarm to 
    the TSC automatic ally, c ausing  the TSC to b e unab le to fulfill the 
    servic es c ontrac t.
    Save Translations
