Install the p ower units (removed from G2 mod ule c ontrol c arrier) into the “ A” c arrier. Do not interc hang e the p hysic al loc ations of the units. The 631AR1, 631WA1, 631DA1, or 644A install in the left sid e, while the 631BR1, 631WB1, 631DB1, or 645B install in the rig ht sid e. NOTE: In most c ases, the new Release 8 c arrier will c ontain the same p ower sup p lies as in the existing system. However, the new Release 8 carrier may c ontain a 649A Power Unit. If so, use the power units from the G2 power mod ule. 14. If the exp ansion c ontrol c arrier c ontains a 631BR1, 631WB1, or 645B p ower unit, install the p reviously removed TN736 p ower unit in p ort slots “ 18” and “ 19” of the c arrier (ad jac ent to the 631BR1, 631WB1, or 645B). If the system is eq uip p ed for neon messag e waiting , a TN752 or TN755 power unit must be used. NOTE: The TN736 is not required when the 631DB1 or 645B p ower unit is used in the J58890AH c ontrol c arrier or the J58890BB-2 or J58890BB-3 p ort c arriers. It is req uired in the J58890BB-1 p ort c arrier, regard less of whic h 631 power unit is p rovid ed . Use the TN752 or TN755 if the system is eq uip p ed with neon messag e waiting . 15. NOTE: Currently, the TN768 Tone-Cloc k c irc uit p ac k resid es in a p ort slot of the universal mod ule b eing up grad ed . Reloc ate this c irc uit p ac k to the “ TONE CLOCK” slot of c arrier “ A.” Luc ent Tec hnolog ies rec ommend s that you up g rad e to the TN2182 Tone-Cloc k. 2. Install c irc uit p ac k b lanks in slots not eq uip p ed with c irc uit p ac ks. 3. For a directly-connected high reliability Release 8 system with 2 port networks, ensure the PPN and this EPN are b oth eq uip p ed with a TN776 or TN570 Exp ansion Interfac e c irc uit p ac k. For a d irec tly-c onnec ted system with 3 p ort networks, ensure that the PPN and eac h EPN have two TN776 or TN570 c irc uit p ac ks. Interconnect Port Networks — High Reliability Fiber op tic c abling terminated to 9823A lig htwave transc eivers c an interc onnec t PNs up to 4,900 feet (1493 m) ap art. Fib er op tic c ab ling terminated to 9823B lig htwave transc eivers c an interc onnec t PNs up to 25,000 feet (7620 m) ap art. A 300A fib er op tic lig htwave transc eiver c an interc onnec t PNs up to 115,000 feet (21.7 miles, 35 km) apart. NOTE: These d istanc e limits are ap p roximate measurements of the ac tual fib er rig ht-of-way (not of the shortest linear d istanc e) b etween the 2 end points. NOTE: It is imp ortant to lab el every c ab le that you install. NOTE: Keep trac k of whic h fib er attac hes to whic h c onnec tor on eac h lig htwave transc eiver. This sec tion p rovides fig ures offering the sug gested way of making these c onnec tions. The c onnec tors on the lig htwave transc eivers are lab eled either “ TX” (transmit) or “ RX” (rec eive), while the fib ers attac hing to eac h c onnec tor are numb ered either “ 1” or “ 2.” A viab le fib er c onnec tion is only mad e when b oth fibers in eac h c ab le (“ 1” and “ 2” ) route from the “ TX” c onnec tor of a p ort network to the “ RX” c onnec tor of its ad jac ent p ort network. See Figure 5-16. NOTE: When finished , refer to Appendix A, ‘‘Fiber Link Administration’’ to ad minister the fiber links.
DEFINITY Enterprise Communications Server Release 8.2 Upgrades and Additions for R8r 555-233-115 Issue 1 April 2000 Multicarrier G2 Universal Module to R8r EPN 5-56 High Reliability 5 Collocated Port Networks For a hig h reliab ility system with 1 c olloc ated exp ansion p ort network, use 1 fib er op tic c ab le and 2 lig htwave transc eivers to d irec tly c onnec t the networks. For a high reliab ility system with 2 c olloc ated exp ansion p ort networks, use 3 fib er op tic c ab les and 6 lig htwave transc eivers to d irec tly c onnec t the networks. NOTE: Based on floor p lan c onsid erations, the leng th of these fib er c ab les may vary. 20 foot (6.1 m) c ab les are normally ad eq uate for a Release 8 with 2 port networks. For collocated cabinets, the fiber optic cables should be routed directly from the PPN t o t h e EPN c ab inet. If a “ DEFINITY style” PPN c abinet is c olloc ated with another “ DEFINITY style” EPN c ab inet, the p referred routing is to run the c ab les up the c ab le tray and out the top of the PPN c ab inet. The c ab les are then run to the other c ab inet, throug h the top of the c ab inet, and d own the c able tray to the desired carrier level. NOTE: Refer to DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Installation and Test for Multic arrier Cabinets , for ad d itional g uidelines ab out fib er routing . If a “ DEFINITY style” PPN c ab inet is c olloc ated with either a small c ab inet, med ium c ab inet, or sing le-c arrier c ab inet stac k, the p referred routing is to run the cables down the c ab le tray and out the bottom of the PPN c ab inet. The c ab les are then run to the EPN c ab inet and up the outsid e of the rear panels to the desired carrier level. Fiber-Remoted Port Networks For a high reliab ility system with 1 fib er-remoted exp ansion p ort network, 2 fib er op tic c ab les, 2 lig htwave transc eivers, and 2 lig htg uid e interc onnec t units (provided by the PSC) are required. For a hig h reliab ility system with 2 fib er-remoted exp ansion p ort networks, 6 fib er op tic c ab les, 6 lig htwave transc eivers, and 6 lig htg uid e interc onnec t units (provided by the PSC) are required. For fib er-remoted c ab inets, route the c ab les down the c ab le tray and out the b ottom of the c ab inet to the c ross-c onnec t field where the lightg uide interc onnec t units are loc ated . In either c ase, use c ab le ties to sec ure the c ab le ag ainst the walls of the c ab le tray at the c ab le tie p ositions b uilt into the trays.
