    All Installations
    1. When the system reset is finished, type status port-network 2
     and press
En t e r. The Port Network Status sc reen ap p ears. Verify that PNC Ac tive is
“ up ” and that the Servic e State is “ in.”
    2. A Span LED, on the front of the DS1 Converter circuit pack, must be off for
eac h inac tive fac ility administered . For examp le, if Fac ility A and Fac ility B
are unad ministered , then the top 2 Sp an LEDs on the c irc uit p ac k must b e
off. If the yellow LEDs are on, then p rob lems were enc ountered d uring the
unad ministration of hard ware. Sp an LEDs assoc iated with ad ministered
fac ilities (C and D, in this examp le) should b e on.
    Removing the Hardware
    1. Be sure that you have unad ministered the trunks, attend ant c onsoles,
voic e terminals, and d ata mod ules assoc iated with the p ort c irc uit pac ks
in the EPN c ab inet.
    2. Remove the fib er op tic c ab les from the fib er transc eivers at b oth end s of
the fib er sp an. Carefully c oil the fib er op tic c ables. Avoid b end ing c ab les
    to a rad ius smaller than 1.5 inc hes (3.8 c m).
    3. Remove the fib er transc eivers from the DS1 and /or DS1 c onverter c irc uit
p ac ks at b oth end s of eac h fib er sp an.
    4. Remove the 25-p air c ab les from the c onnec tor p anel on eac h c arrier of
    the EPN.
    5. Type remove cabinet

En t e r. This removes the EPN
    c ab inet ad ministration.
    6. Remove the p ower c ord s from the p ower units in eac h c arrier in the EPN
and remove the AC power c ord or DC p ower wires.
    7. Chec k the ground ing sc heme for the c ab inets. Perform the following :
    a. If any c ab inet ground wires c onnec t in
    series b etween the EPN
c ab inet and any other c ab inet, remove the wires from the EPN
c ab inet and c onnec t them to the next c abinet in the g round p lane.
    !CAUTION:
Never leave c ab inets ungrounded . When a ground wire is
removed from a series-c onnec ted c abinet, the g round p lane
b ec omes op en with respec t to all sub seq uent c ab inets.
b . If any c abinet g round wires c onnec t in parallel to other c ab inets, or
c onnec t d irec tly to the AC p ower panel g round or other ap proved
g round , remove the wire from eac h end of the g round sp an.
    8. Carefully remove the EPN c ab inet. The c ab inet may weig h as muc h as

    Add DCS Interface
Systems in a Distrib uted Communic ations System (DCS) network are
interc onnec ted b y b oth tie trunks (for voic e c ommunic ations) and d ata links (for
c ontrol and transp arent feature information). These d ata links, also c alled DCS
sig naling links, supp ort the feature transp arenc y.
Various sub sets (dep end ing on the sp ec ific c onfig uration) of DS1 Interfac e
c irc uit p ac ks (inc lud ing TN464F, TN767E, and TN760E) p rovide the
voic e-c ommunic ations interfac e.
Meanwhile, the d ata link interfac e (b etween the p roc essor and the p hysic al
    sig naling link) is p rovid ed b y (or throug h) a TN799 Control-LAN c irc uit p ac k. In
some c onfig urations, the TN799 passes the sig naling information over a sep arate
    10BaseT TCP/IP network (usually via a hub ). For use with 10BaseT, c onnec t the
ap p rop riate p ins of the I/O field to the hub . For p inouts and d iagrams, refer to the
installation manual for your c ab inet typ e. In other c onfigurations, the TN799
c irc uit p ac k c arries sig naling over p oint-to-p oint p rotoc ol (PPP) for subseq uent
inc lusion (via the switc hing fab ric ) in the same DS1 b it stream as the DCS voic e
    transmissions.
    A TN780 Tone-Cloc k c irc uit p ac k (installed in the PPN) c an interfac e external

    Add IP Interface Assembly
DEFINITY ECS IP Solutions allows you to send voic e and fax from the DEFINITY
ECS throug h an Internet p rotoc ol (IP) network to other DEFINITY ECSs having
this feature or to other H.323 V2 c omp liant end p oints. It is imp lemented using the
TN802/B IP Interfac e, whic h is a Wind ows NT server resid ing on the IP Interfac e
Assemb ly insid e the DEFINITY ECS.
The IP Interfac e is an assemb ly c omp osed of a TN802B c irc uit b oard, a
p roc essor c ard , and DSP resourc e c ard . For ord ering p urp oses, the assemb ly is
id entified as a J58890MA-1 L30, b ut for simp lic ity, we refer to it in this b ook as the
    TN802B IP Interfac e.
The TN802B IP Interfac e op erates in two mod es: IP Trunk, availab le with Release
7 or later, and Med ia Proc essor (Med Pro), availab le with Release 8. The IP Trunk
mod e is Internet Telep hone Server—Enterp rise (ITS-E) c omp atib le, and the
Med Pro mod e is H.323 V2 c omp atib le. The TN802B IP Interfac e is b ac kward s
c omp atib le and d efaults to IP Trunk mod e.You must ad minister it to use it in
    Med Pro mod e.
For more information on the IP Interfac e c ap ab ilities and limitations, refer to the
DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Overview.
The following sec tions d esc rib e the proc ess for
    nInstalling in Media Processor Mode
    nInstalling in IP Trunk Mode
    nUpgrading a TN802 V3 (or later) to a TN802B (MedPro mode)
    !WARNING:
When c onnec ted remotely via p c ANYWHERE, only use the p c ANYWHERE
Restart Host Computer b utton on the toolb ar to restart Wind ows NT.
    Installing in Media Processor Mode
To operate in Med Pro mod e, you must install the TN802B IP Interfac e and , if the
system d oes not have one, you must also install and administer a TN799B
     C-LAN
c irc uit p ac k. For C-LAN administration, refer to
    DEFINITY Enterprise
Communic ations Server Ad ministration for Network Connec tivity.
If you have existing TN802 IP Interfac e c irc uit p ac ks, you c an up g rad e them
    either b y rep lac ing the c irc uit p ac k with a TN802B or b y d ownload ing the
TN802B firmware onto the c irc uit p ac ks (see ‘‘Upgrade to TN802B (R8)’’ on page
