    1. Behind  p ort c arrier D of the multic arrier PPN:
    a. Install a lig htwave transc eiver on the c onnec tor at slot 1D02.
    NOTE:
    Attenuators may be required for single mode fiber using a 
    300A Lightwave Transc eiver
    b . Connec t 1 end  of the ap p rop riate fib er op tic  c ab le to the lig htwave 
    transc eiver at slot 1D02.
    c.Route the c ab le to the c ab inet’s c ab le tray and  d own, out of the 
    c ab inet, to the EPN stac k.
    d . Carefully attac h the fib er op tic  c ab le (with c ab le ties) to the wall of 
    the c ab le tray at the b uilt-in c ab le tie p ositions.
    2. Behind control cabinet A of EPN stack 3:
    a. Install a lig htwave transc eiver on the c onnec tor at slot 3A01.
    NOTE:
    Attenuators may be required for single mode fiber using a 
    300A Lightwave Transc eiver
    b . Connec t the other end  of the fiber op tic  c able from the PPN to the 
    lig htwave transc eiver at slot 3A01.
    c . Carefully attac h the fib er op tic  c ab le (with c ab le ties) to the rear 
    c overs of the EPN stac k.
    d . Coil the surp lus fib er optic  c ab le and  p lac e it either in the c ab le 
    manag er or on the b ottom shelf (hold ing  the p ower supp ly) of the 
    PPN  c a b i n e t .
    3. Behind control cabinet A of EPN stack 2:
    a. Install a lig htwave transc eiver on the c onnec tor at slot 2A02.
    NOTE:
    Attenuators may be required for single mode fiber using a 
    300A Lightwave Transc eiver
    b . Connec t a fib er op tic  c ab le to the transc eiver just installed .
    c . Route the c ab le d own the outsid e of the rear c overs to the other 
    EPN stack.
    d . Carefully attac h the fib er op tic  c ab le (with c ab le ties) to the rear

    Interconnect Port Networks with Fiber Cabling —
    Critical Reliability Release 8r
    1. Keep  trac k of whic h fib er attac hes to whic h c onnec tor on eac h lig htwave 
    transc eiver. This sec tion p rovid es fig ures showing  typ ic al ways of making  
    these connec tions.
    The c onnec tors on the lightwave transc eivers are lab eled  “ TX”  (transmit) or “ RX”  
    (rec eive), while the fib ers attac hing  to eac h c onnec tor are numb ered  “ 1”  or “ 2.” ’ 
    See Figure 3-13
    .
    Collocated Port Networks
    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 1 c olloc ated  exp ansion p ort network, use 2 
    fib er op tic  c ab les and 4 lig htwave transc eivers to d irec tly c onnec t the networks. 
    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 2 c olloc ated  exp ansion p ort networks, use 6 
    fib er op tic  c ab les and  12 lig htwave transc eivers to d irec tly c onnec t the networks.
    NOTE:
    Based  on floor p lan c onsid erations, the leng th of these c ab les may vary. 
    20-foot (6.1 m) c ab les are normally ad eq uate for a Release 8r with 2 p ort 
    networks.
    For c olloc ated  c ab inets, route the fib er op tic  c ab les d irec tly from the PPN to eac h 
    EPN c ab inet. Sinc e a Release 8r PPN c ab inet is c olloc ated  with a Sing le-Carrier 
    Cab inet stac k, the p referred  routing  is to run the c ab les 
    down the c ab le tray and  
    out the b ottom of the PPN c ab inet. The c ab les are then run to the EPN c ab inet 
    and  up  the outsid e of the rear p anels to the d esired  c arrier level.
    Fiber-Remoted Port Networks
    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 1 fib er-remoted  EPN, use 4 fib er op tic  c ab les, 
    4 lig htwave transc eivers, and  4 lig htguid e interfac e units (p rovid ed  b y the PSC).
    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 2 fib er-remoted  EPN, use 12 fib er optic  
    c ab les, 12 lig htwave transc eivers, and  12 lig htg uid e interfac e units (p rovided  b y 
    the PSC).

    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 1 DS1 CONV-remoted  EPN, this arrang ement 
    req uires:

    nFour DS1 CONV-to-EI c ab les (847245750 and/or 847245768)
    nFour H-600-348 c ab les
    nTwo, 4, 6, or 8 p airs of c hannel servic e units (CSUs)
    nTwo, 4, 6, or 8 p airs of wall-field  c ab les (p rovid ed  with the CSUs)
    n5, 10, or 15 d B attenuators (sing le-mod e fib er only). 
    For a c ritic al reliab ility system with 2 DS1 CONV-remoted  EPNs, this arrangement 
    req uires:
    n12 DS1 CONV c irc uit p ac ks (TN1654)
    n12 DS1 CONV-to-EI c ab les (847245750 and/or 847245768)
    n12 H-600-348 c ab les
    n6, 12, 18, or 24 pairs of CSUs

    Switch-Connected Port Networks
    For 1 to 15 Standard Reliability EPNs.

    transc eiver at slot 1B02.
    f. Attac h the interc arrier c able (with c ab le ties) to the wall of the c ab le 
    tray at the b uilt-in c ab le tie p ositions.
    2. Behind switc h node carrier E of PPN c abinet 1. See Figure 3-14
    :
    a. For eac h EPN, install 1 lig htwave transc eiver on a c ab le c onnec tor 
    with the following  ord er of slots: 1E20, 1E03, 1E19, 1E04, 1E18, 
    1E05, and so forth.
    b . Connec t 1 end  of eac h fiber op tic  c able to eac h lig htwave 
    transc eiver, just installed .
    c . Carefully attac h the fib er optic  c ab les (with c ab le ties) to the wall of 
    the c ab le tray at the b uilt-in c ab le tie p ositions.
    3. Behind  c ontrol c ab inet A of eac h sing le-c arrier EPN:
    a. Install a lig htwave transc eiver on c ab le c onnec tor at slot A01.
    b . Connec t the other end  of the fiber op tic  c able to the lig htwave 
    transc eiver, just installed , at slot A01.
    c . Carefully attac h the fib er op tic  c ab le (with c ab le ties) to the rear 
    c overs of the EPN stac k.
    d . Coil up  the surp lus leng th of fib er op tic  c ab le, and  p lac e the c oil 
    either in the c ab le manag er or on the b ottom shelf (hold ing  the 
    p ower sup p ly) of the PPN c ab inet.
