Outsid e c allers who reac h the system throug h the Call Answer feature may also use these c ommand s if they are familiar with the system and have a touc h-tone telep hone. Sub sc ribers with the Call Answer feature may wish to inc lud e op tions suc h as (Transfer) or (Esc ap e to Attend ant) in their p ersonal g reeting s to assist outsid e c allers. These op tions must b e ad ministered on the system to work. Table 5. AUDIX General Commands Command Function Description Available at all levels : Help Plays a help menu listing all availab le op tions at that point. Re s t a r tInterrupts what you’re d oing and returns you to the Ac tivity Menu. In CL-mode, allows subsc ribers who have reac hed the DEFINITY AUDIX system throug h the Call Answer feature to ac c ess their own mailb oxes b y entering the c ommand . This is esp ec ially useful for long -d istanc e c alls. Wait Causes the system to p ause if you need more time before entering the next command. You can reac tivate b y p ressing (for help ) or any valid c ommand . This value is set b y the system ad ministrator (0 to 999 sec ond s). The d efault ad d ressing mod e for Call Transfer is b y extension. To d ial an AUDIX sub sc rib er b y name, first p ress , then typ e the name (last name first), and p ress . If the system req uests more letters, ad d them at the p oint where you left off. Names or Numbers Direc toryAc c esses the names-and -numbers d irec tory for all AUDIX sub sc rib ers. To find a sub sc rib er’s extension, type the name (last-name-first) and p ress . The system announc es the sub sc rib er’s name and extension numb er. If the system req uests more letters, ad d them from the p oint where you left off. (For names, the letter Q is on the 7 key, and Z is on the 9 key.) To find out a name for an extension, press (for Alternate Ad d ressing ) to switc h mod es, then enter the extension and . To exit the d irec tory, press . Available at all levels : Esc ap e Transfers out of the system to a p re-administered attend ant (suc h as a sec retary). If no attendant is d efined , the c all will not transfer. Exit Causes the system to hang up without d isc onnec ting , useful if you are using a c alling c ard and wish to make another c all. Available at the Ac tivity Menu : Relog in Log s off the c urrent session and p lays a g reeting messag e, allowing another sub sc riber to log on after you without red ialing . Available in Call Answer : Esc ap e Use this c ommand instead of or after leaving a c all answer messag e to transfer to the c alled p arty’s secretary or other attendant. Private After ap p roving your messag e, p ress to make the messag e p rivate. This ensures that the messag e won’t be forwarded. Table 5. Sw it c h Lang uag esUse this c ommand if the c all answer g reeting tells you to p ress to switc h to the alternate lang uag e, and you wish to hear the g reeting in the alternate lang uag e. Exit Causes the system to hang up without d isc onnec ting . This is useful if someone interc epts your c all after you start to leave a messag e, and you want to ensure that the c onversation is not b eing record ed . Available when listening to or c reating messag es : End or Skip End s an informational string (suc h as a name, p assword , or extension number), or skip s over a messag e or entry. Ap p rove End s a func tion, allowing you to g o to the next step . Listen After the system p lays the messag e head er, p ress to listen to the messag e. If you are c urrently listening to the messag e, you c an p ress to rep lay the messag e from the b eg inning . Rewind Causes the system to rewind a message or header. Play Plays the c urrent message or header. For example, if you have just listened to a messag e and want to hear the head er ag ain (from the b eg inning ), simp ly p ress (Rewind ) and (Play). Available when listening to or c reating messag es : Delete Erases a messag e, head er, or entry. Und elete Restores a messag e, head er, or entry immed iately after it was erased . Table 5. The system c an only rewind messag es, not head ers. If the messag e is not open (you’ve only heard the head er), the system p lays it back from the beginning.
