Interactions with Switch Features The Transfer Into Mailb ox feature interac ts with switc h features as follows: nCall Conferenc e Into AUDIX: An attend ant in a c all-c overag e path may c onferenc e a c all into the DEFINITY AUDIX system b y using the Sp lit-A-Call feature (Sp lit or Start button), then dialing the DEFINITY AUDIX transfer extension numb er. The attendant c an then remain on the c all, or p ress the Release b utton to drop out of the c onferenc ed c all. nCall Coverag e/Call Forward ing /Call Pic kup: This feature c an red irec t c alls from the sub sc rib er’s extension to a c overing attend ant. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Transfer Into Mailb ox feature interac ts with other DEFINITY AUDIX features as follows: nADAP: Calls that are transferred to sub sc rib er mailb oxes g enerate Call Answer d ata on the feature traffic and sub sc rib er traffic sc reens. This d ata can be accessed using ADAP. nCall Answer: When a c aller is transferred to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox, the Call Answer feature is ac tivated and p lays the sub sc rib er’s g reeting . nFull Mailb ox Answer Mod e: If a c aller is transferred to a subsc rib er’s voic e mailb ox and the mailb ox is full, the c aller will hear a messag e stating that no messag es c an b e left for that sub sc rib er. The system will then offer other op tions to the c aller. nMultiling ual: The DEFINITY AUDIX system answers a transferred c all from the AUDIX TRANSFER p ort in the system announc ement set and promp ts the c aller to enter the extension of the d esired sub sc rib er mailb ox. If the Multiling ual feature is ac tivated and all attend ants using this feature c an work with the p romp t to enter the extension in the system announc ement set, then no c hang e is req uired . Otherwise, the system administrator mig ht rerec ord the p rompt to enter the extension in all lang uag es of interest. nMultiple Personal Greeting s: If a c aller is transferred to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox and the sub sc rib er is using the Multip le Personal Greeting s feature, the c aller will hear the g reeting sc hed uled for this typ e of c all (internal, external, out-of-hours, b usy, or no answer).

Wh o h a s i t: Any c aller who reac hes the DEFINITY AUDIX system c an transfer out of the system (if ac tivated ). Who c ontrols it: The system ad ministrator ac tivates the Transfer Out of AUDIX feature for the entire system using the System-Parameters Features sc reen. Transfer restric tions c an b e set to “ d ig its” or “ sub sc rib ers.” nCallers who reach a sub scrib er’s voic e mailb ox via the Call Answer feature may leave a messag e for the sub sc rib er first, then transfer to another extension. nCallers may selec t name ad dress- ing instead of extension numb ers to transfer i (see the Dial-b y-Name feature for more information). nThe caller must use a touch-tone telep hone to transfer out unless the c aller reac hes an Automated Attend ant that has been ad minis- tered to transfer the c all after tim- ing-out. nValid transfer d estinations are extensions on the c alled switc h. This is p artic ularly useful for long-d istanc e c alls, or when the c aller is using a pay p hone. Also, anytime after log g ing in, sub sc rib ers c an transfer to other sub sc rib ers. Considerations The DEFINITY AUDIX system, like all voice messaging and automated attendant systems, is sub jec t to unauthorized long d istanc e c all attemp ts (toll fraud ). But the system ad ministrator c an take step s to minimize the risk. When setting up the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature on the System-Parameters Features sc reen, the system ad ministrator c an make the system more sec ure b y setting the transfer restric tion field to sub sc rib ers. This virtually eliminates the fraud ulent use of c all transfer sinc e the system will verify that the req uested transfer extension is ad ministered . NOTE: If the sub sc rib ers restric tion is used , non-resid ent sub sc rib ers (users with a mailbox but no telep hone on the switc h) should not b e assigned to extension numb ers that start with the same dig it(s) as the switc h trunk access codes (9 for example). !CAUTION: Ac tivating the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature c an leave your system vulnerab le to p ossib le toll fraud . DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic (DS Mode) 317 Feature Operation Feature Operation In disp lay set (DS) integ ration mod e, the DEFINITY AUDIX system uses the Basic Call Transfer switc h feature. Basic Call Transfer uses a switc hhook-flash method to send the transfer c ommand over analog voic e p orts. The DEFINITY AUDIX system goes off-hook, waits for a d ial-tone, d ials the transfer numb er, then waits ag ain for the c onnec tion to c omp lete. If the c alled numb er is b usy, c allers will hear nothing and must hang up (c allers are not automatic ally returned to the system). NOTE: On many switc hes, you c annot transfer c alls to an attend ant c onsole using either the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature or the Automated Attend ant feature. Chec k your switc h d oc umentation for c all transfer restric tions. The Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature is used whenever a subscriber wants to resp ond to a messag e b y automatic ally p lac ing a return c all or when a c all has b een red irec ted to the system via the Call Answer feature. In the latter c ase, the c aller may either leave a message and then transfer to any extension or transfer immed iately. To transfer to another extension while in the DEFINITY AUDIX system, d o the following : 1. Press to initiate the transfer. 2. Enter the extension numb er (or name) you want to transfer to and p ress . If extension ad d ressing is your d efault mod e, and you want to d ial a sub sc rib er b y name, p ress (for Alternate Ad dressing Mod e) then enter the sub sc rib er’s name (last name first) and p ress . For examp le, to reac h John Dreyer, the c aller would enter . The system will ask you to wait while it p lac es the c all. Interactions with Switch Features The Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature interacts with switch features as follows: nBasic Call Transfer: This typ e of c all transfer is used b y the DEFINITY AUDIX system in DS mode only. It is not g uaranteed to work on multip le switc hes. nHost Comp uter Ac c ess: Comp uter c enters often req uire off-p remises users to enter an external sec urity c od e to log on to a c omp uter. To p revent off-p remises c allers from b yp assing external sec urity with the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature, the switc h Host Comp uter Ac c ess feature should b e set up to c ontrol c omp uter ac c ess throug h trunk g roup s. The station numb er for the c omp uter should always route c allers to the trunk g roup that req uires an external sec urity c od e, sinc e c allers must d ial a numb er to transfer. The trunk g roup (s) used only b y internal c allers should have no station-number steering c od e. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature interac ts with other DEFINITY AUDIX features as follows: nAutomated Attend ant: The Automated Attend ant feature makes use of the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature to transfer c allers b ased on the menu c hoic e they make. nCall Answer: When a c aller is sent to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox via the Call Answer feature, the c aller c an transfer to another extension in the switc h d ial p lan using the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Basic feature. If a c overing extension is ad ministered for the sub sc rib er or a system d efault c overing extension is d efined , the c aller who reac hed the system via the Call Answer feature c an transfer to the c overing extension b y p ressing . nDial-b y-Name: When transferring out of the system, c allers c an use the Dial-By-Name feature to transfer to another DEFINITY AUDIX sub sc rib er’s extension. nOnline Help: Help is available at any time and is ac cessed by pressing . nVoice Mailb ox: If a sub sc rib er listens to a messag e and wants to c all the send er, the sub sc rib er c an p ress to have the DEFINITY AUDIX system plac e the c all automatic ally. 0 *H 10

This is p artic ularly useful for long -d istanc e c alls. Also, anytime after log g ing in, sub sc rib ers c an transfer to other sub sc rib ers. NOTE: Enhanc ed Call Transfer — as op posed to Basic Call Transfer — is an effective way to prohibit callers from transferring out of the DEFINITY AUDIX system and p lac ing unauthorized long -d istanc e c alls from the switch. Considerations The DEFINITY AUDIX system, like all voice messaging and automated attendant systems, is sub jec t to unauthorized long d istanc e c all attemp ts (toll fraud ). But the system ad ministrator c an take step s to minimize the risk. Care also should b e taken to p revent outc alls (Outc alling , Call Delivery, or AMIS Analog Networking ) from g oing to unauthorized loc ations. !CAUTION: Althoug h the Transfer Out of AUDIX — Enhanc ed feature was d esig ned to p revent unauthorized long -d istanc e c alls from the switc h, Luc ent Tec hnolog ies c annot p red ic t p otential ab use from hac kers. There are two Transfer Typ es for Enhanc ed Call Transfer that ap p ly when the c aller p resses 0 to esc ap e to the operator after b eing forward ed to the DEFINITY AUDIX system: nenhanced_no_cover_0 treats the c all as a red irec ted call. The call will not b e sub jec t to c all c overag e or c all forwarding as d efined for the specified destination extension. nenhanced_cover_0 treats the c all as a direct c all p rovid ing c all c overag e and c all forward ing as d efined for the d estination extension. The covering extension person will not see (on the d isp lay set) who the c all was originally sent to.
