DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 Exit AUDIX 132 Applications Applications There are three primary applications of this feature: nTo d rop the system from the line so the c aller c an make other c alls. This is p artic ularly help ful when the c aller is using a p ay p hone and /or c alling c ard to g et or leave messages. nTo d rop the system from the line when sc reening c alls (listening to c allers leave c all answer messag es). See the C a ll Sc re e n i n g ( D S M o d e O n ly ) feature for more information. nTo ensure the system is not rec ord ing a c onversation after c alling a sub sc rib er who has p ic ked up the c all after it has b een forward ed to the system. See the Call Sc reening (DS Mod e Only) feature for more information. Requirements There are no req uirements of this feature other than those of the DEFINITY AUDIX system itself. Feature Operation Callers or sub sc rib ers c an enter at any time to d iseng ag e the DEFINITY AUDIX system. Interactions with Other Features This sec tion id entifies the interac tions of the Exit AUDIX feature with switc h features and other DEFINITY AUDIX features. Interactions with Switch Features This feature d oes not interac t with the switc h d irec tly. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Exit AUDIX feature interac ts with all other DEFINITY AUDIX features in that it c an b e invoked at any time to exit the system. **X
Full Mailbox Answer Mode 133 DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 DescriptionPoints to Remember Administration Screens The Full Mailb ox Answer Mod e feature provid es the c aller with alternative op tions for c omp leting a c all when the rec ip i- ent’s mailb ox is full. If the rec ip ient has a p ersonal g reeting ac tivated , the c aller hears the g reeting followed b y announc ements stating that a message c annot b e left and listing other op tions. If the rec ip ient is using the system g reeting , the c aller hears only the announc ements. If the Multiling ual feature is ac tive and Call Answer Lang uag e Choic e is y (yes) for the sub sc rib er, the c aller hears the g reeting in the sub sc rib er’s p rimary announc ement set. The c aller rec eives the normal Call Answer op tions: Transfer, Wait, Help , Exit, and Operator (or c overing extension). If the c aller d oesn’t resp ond within an ad ministered time p eriod , the system forward s the c all to (1) the p ersonal c overing extension, if there is one, or (2) the system c overing exten- sion, if there is one. If neither extension is availab le, the sys- tem p lays a messag e warning the c aller to resp ond or be d isc onnec ted. If there is no further resp onse, the system end s the c all. Wh o h a s i t :The feature is availab le to all sub sc rib ers with the Call Answer feature. Who c ontrols it:The system administrator assig ns c overing extensions for the entire system or for individ ual sub scrib ers. Sub scrib ers control whether or not the c aller first hears a p ersonal g reeting before g etting the list of op tions. Wh o c a n a c c e s s it :Anyone c an ac c ess the feature b y d ialing an extension that has a full mailb ox. nBefore leaving for an extend ed p eriod, rec ip ients should set up a c overing extension and inform c allers of it via the p ersonal g reet- ing . nIf the full mailb ox answer is trig - g ered exc essively, system ad min- istrators should resp ond b y enlarg ing mailb oxes. System administrators should continually tailor mailb ox sp ac e to sub sc rib - ers as nec essary, using d ata ac q uired from ADAP and the ad min log . DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 Full Mailbox Answer Mode 134 Applications Applications This feature is p rimarily of interest to sales and servic e org anizations that rec eive many outsid e c alls. It is more c ord ial than other systems in that the c all is answered even if the rec ip ient’s mailb ox is full. The most c ommon sc enario is that of a salesp erson on vac ation. When the salesp erson’s mailb ox is filled , c lients who c all that extension are g rac efully allowed to c omp lete the c all to another extension. The c overing extension may even b e served b y an automated attend ant that offers further options to the c aller. Requirements For the Full Mailb ox Answer Mod e feature to work fully, offering all options to the c aller, the Call Transfer feature must b e ac tive on the System-Parameters Features sc reen. If c all transfer is not ac tive, the c aller is only offered the exit op tion. In ord er for the c aller to b e offered the op tion of transferring to a c overing extension, the following req uirements must b e met: nThe system-wid e c overing extension must b e assig ned on the System-Parameters Features sc reen. nInd ivid ual sub sc rib ers must have c all answer p ermission (and , op tionally, the c overing extension defined ) on the Sub sc rib er or Class of Servic e sc reen. Ind ivid ual c overing extensions overrid e the system-wide c overing extension. The system-wid e c overing extension is used when ind ivid ual c overing extensions are not d efined .

If the Multiling ual feature is ac tive, these voic e p romp ts may need to b e c hang ed in all lang uag es installed on the DEFINITY AUDIX system. nAutomated Attend ant: Any c overing extension c an b e served b y an Automated Attend ant, whic h p rovid es the c aller with more transfer op tions. nBulletin Board: Any c overing extension c an also b e a Bulletin Board extension. nCall Answer: Full Mailb ox Answer Mod e is a sub feature of Call Answer, in that it is a situation-sp ec ific mod ific ation of the b asic Call Answer feature. See the Call Answer feature for information on how it interac ts with other features. nDirec tory: The system directory is available to c allers who reach a DEFINITY AUDIX mailb ox that is in Full Mailb ox Answer Mod e. nEsc ap e to Attend ant: Esc ap e to Attend ant is used in Full Mailb ox Answering Mod e as one of the op tions offered to a c aller (“ Press zero...”). nExit AUDIX: Exit AUDIX ) is used in Full Mailb ox Answering Mod e as one of the op tions offered to a c aller. nGuest Password: Callers c an transfer into the system and leave a messag e for any sub sc rib er if they know the Guest Password . They c annot leave messag es in a full mailb ox. nMultiling ual: If the Multiling ual feature is ac tive and Call Answer Lang uag e Choic e is y (yes) for the sub sc rib er, the c aller hears the g reeting in the sub sc rib er’s primary announc ement set. If the rec ip ient has a Dual Languag e Personal Greeting ac tivated , c allers will hear the p ersonal g reeting b efore g etting the Full Mailb ox announc ements. nMultiple Personal Greeting s: If the rec ip ient has a Multip le Personal Greeting ac tivated , c allers will hear the stand ard (normal hours, etc .) p ersonal g reeting b efore g etting the Full Mailb ox announc ements. nName Record By Subscriber: If the rec ip ient has rec ord ed a name, that rec ord ing will b e used for the full mailb ox announc ements. nOnline Help: Help ) is inc lud ed in the list of op tions p resented to the caller. nPlayb ac k and Rec ord ing Control: The p laybac k c ontrol b uttons c an b e used on the p ersonal g reeting and system announc ements p layed to the c aller. Note that the system ad ministrator will also rec eive a rep ort in the ad ministration log eac h time the Full Mailb ox Answer Mode feature is used . *T

Guest Password 139 DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 DescriptionPoints to Remember Administration Screens The Guest Password feature allows p eop le who are not DEFINITY AUDIX sub scrib ers to acc ess the system b y d ial- ing the main DEFINITY AUDIX numb er, entering a sub - sc rib er’s extension, and entering the system-wid e Guest Password . These c allers c an leave messag es for that sub - sc rib er b ut c annot listen to other messag es in the mailb ox. The Guest Password may also b e used to leave messag es for subsc ribers who d on’t have c all-c overag e to the DEFINITY AUDIX system or to b yp ass an attend ant in a c ov- erage path to record a message for another subsc riber. Wh o h a s i t: All sub scrib ers who have call answer p ermission d efined in their sub sc rib er p rofile c an receive messages from guests who use the g uest p assword . Wh o c o n t r o l s i t: The system ad ministrator selec ts a 1- to 15-d ig it Guest Password to b e used b y the entire system. This p assword is d efined on the System-Parameters Features sc reen. The system ad ministrator must also verify that the Guest Password is not the same as any subscriber’s password. For more information on ad ministering a Guest Password , s ee D EFINITY AUDIX System — Ad ministration, 585-300-507. Wh o c a n a c c e s s it: Normally, the system ad ministrator is the only p erson who can acc ess or change the Guest Password . nThere is one Guest Password for the entire DEFINITY AUDIX sys- tem. nSinc e the Guest Password should b e p ub lished and read ily avail- ab le to outsid e users, the system ad ministrator is resp onsib le for notifying Guest-Password users if the p assword c hang es. nThe system ad ministrator may wish to initially make the Guest- Password a long number so it d oes not need to be c hang ed or extend ed if the minimum p ass- word length changes. This allows p eop le who are not DEFINITY AUDIX sub sc rib ers, or other sub sc rib ers who wish to b ypass normal c all c overag e (suc h as a sec retary), to leave a messag e d irec tly in a sub sc riber’s mailb ox. These c allers c annot ac c ess any messag es in the called sub sc rib er’s mailb ox. Requirements The following req uirements must b e met for the Guest Password to work p rop erly: nThe Guest Password must b e ad ministered on the System-Parameters Features sc reen. nThe sub sc rib er d ata aud it (Aud it Subsc rib er-Data sc reen) must b e run after the Guest Password has been defined or c hang ed . nInd ivid ual mailb oxes must have either Call Answer, Automated Attend ant, or Bulletin Board p ermission ac tive. nThe c aller using the Guest Password must use a touc h-tone telep hone.
