These rep orts ind ic ate how many sub sc rib ers are using the DEFINITY AUDIX system, when they use it, and how intensively. The system ad ministrator c an d efine rep ort c riteria to help man- age system resourc es and d etermine when ad d itional hard - ware or ad ministrative c hang es are nec essary. Wh o h a s i t: This is a system ad ministration feature; it is not used b y sub scrib ers. Wh o c o n t r o l s i t: The system administrator d efines rep ort c riteria using traffic sc reens (for more information on defining report criteria, see the DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 — Screens Reference, 585-300-213. Wh o c a n a c c e s s it: Normally, the system administrator is the only p erson who uses the system Traffic Rep or ts. nTraffic d ata c ollec tion is ac tivated using the System-Parameters Features sc reen. nMonitoring the failed log ins, exter- nal field on the List Measurements Feature sc reen may p rovid e an indic ation that illeg al log ins to the system are b eing attemp ted . If the numb er in this field is hig h, it may indic ate that someone outsid e your system is rep eated ly attemp ting to gain ac c ess to the system without having a legitimate login. nSystem Clock chang es will imp ac t d ata c ollec tion. DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 Traffic Reports 302 Applications Applications The Traffic Rep orts feature is p rimarily used for the following tasks: nEvaluating ac tual system use as c omp ared to p rojec ted use nPred ic ting future eq uipment req uirements By g enerating p eriod ic rep orts of ac tual system use, the system ad ministrator c an measure port ac tivity and c alc ulate the level of servic e that sub sc rib ers are rec eiving . This information c an b e used to d etermine when up g rad es to the system or c hang es in sub sc rib ers’ c lasses of servic e are req uired . Requirements The Traffic Rep orts feature has no req uirements other than those of the DEFINITY AUDIX system itself. Feature Operation The system ad ministrator must ac c ess the traffic sc reens to d isp lay rec ords of traffic d ata c ollec ted over a p artic ular p eriod of time (d aily, hourly, or monthly). The ad ministrator retrieves the sc reens via the ad ministration terminal. For more information on the traffic sc reens, see DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 — Sc reens Referenc e , 585-300-213. Data from all traffic sc reens c an b e c op ied to a p ersonal c omp uter (PC) using ADAP. This d ata c an then b e manip ulated b y d BASE III PLUS p rog rams. NOTE: Only the information c ontained within the field s on eac h sc reen is c op ied to the PC; the sc reens and field names are not c op ied (this allows the d ata to b e stored in d BASE III PLUS format). Interactions with Switch Features These Traffic Rep orts are exc lusively a DEFINITY AUDIX feature and have no d irec t interac tions with any switc h features. However, the system ad ministrator should monitor the numb er of c alls d irec ted to eac h DEFINITY AUDIX p ort from the switc h using the List Measurements sc reen. If any p ort shows zero c alls, that port should be checked. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Traffic Rep orts feature interac ts with other DEFINITY AUDIX features as follows: nAMIS Analog Networking: AMIS Analog Networking ac tivities (c omb ined with Messag e Delivery ac tivities) are g enerated using the Sp ec ial Features Daily Traffic , Sp ec ial Features Hourly Traffic , Subsc rib er Daily Traffic , and Sub sc rib er Monthly Traffic sc reens. nADAP: The system ad ministrator c an transfer the d ata c ontained in all traffic rep ort sc reens to a PC using ADAP. The d ata is stored on the PC in d BASE III PLUS format and c an b e displayed and manip ulated using d BASE III PLUS p rog rams. nAutomated Attend ant: Bec ause Automated Attend ants ap p ear as DEFINITY AUDIX sub sc rib ers, their use is monitored through the sub sc rib er traffic sc reens. This information is esp ec ially useful on small systems where the numb er of p orts d ed ic ated to Automated Attend ants may need to b e kep t at a minimum. (The List Attendants sc reen shows all Automated Attend ants in the system and their extensions.) nCall Answer: Statistic s that illustrate how sub sc rib ers g enerally use the Call Answer feature are c ollec ted using the Spec ial Features Daily Traffic and Sp ec ial Features Hourly Traffic sc reens. nMessag e Delivery: AMIS Analog Networking ac tivities (c omb ined with Messag e Delivery ac tivities) are g enerated using the Sp ec ial Features Daily Traffic , Spec ial Features Hourly Traffic , Sub sc rib er Daily Traffic , and Sub sc rib er Monthly Traffic sc reens. nOutc alling: The system ad ministrator c an monitor system resourc es used b y the Outc alling feature with the Sp ec ial Features Daily Traffic and Sp ec ial Features Hourly Traffic sc reens.

This is usually done if the c aller wishes to leave a c onfid ential messag e. Requirements The following req uirements are nec essary for the Transfer Into AUDIX feature to work p rop erly: nThe switc h ad ministrator must assig n a Transfer Into AUDIX d ial ac c ess c od e. Note that the d ial ac c ess c od e should b e ad ministered the same for all switc hes in a DCS Network. nA c overing extension (usually a sec retary or rec eptionist) must be assig ned to the sub sc rib er’s c all-c overag e path. nThe DEFINITY AUDIX system must b e in the sub sc rib er’s c all-c overag e p ath for this feature to work. Feature Operation The sec tion desc rib es how the Transfer Into AUDIX feature works and p rovid es p roc ed ures for using it. Transfer Into AUDIX Feature The Transfer Into AUDIX feature may b e used whenever a c all is p lac ed to a DEFINITY AUDIX sub sc rib er and the c all is red irec ted to a c overing attend ant. The Call Forward ing , Call Pic kup, and Call Coverag e switc h features c an all red irec t c alls from the DEFINITY AUDIX subsc rib er’s extension to a c overing attend ant. When a c aller reac hes a c overing attend ant, the attend ant c an red irec t the c all to the DEFINITY AUDIX system. NOTE: This feature resid es on the switc h, not on the DEFINITY AUDIX system. System 75 R1V3 Issue 1.4 and later and DEFINITY Generic G3V2g .04.5.0.099., and later switc h software releases sup port the Transfer Into AUDIX feature. To transfer a c all into the DEFINITY AUDIX system, the c overing attend ant should d o the following : 1. Press either the switc hhook, Rec all button, or Transfer b utton (d ep end ing on the p hone). 2. Enter the loc al Transfer Into AUDIX d ial ac c ess c od e (assig ned b y the switc h ad ministrator for that switc h).

The sub sc rib er’s normal Call Answer g reeting g reets the c alling p arty. The attend ant c an then remain on the c all, or p ress the Release b utton to drop out of the c onferenc ed c all. nCall Coverag e/Call Forward ing /Call Pic kup: Any of these features c an red irec t c alls from the sub sc rib er’s extension to a c overing attend ant. nDCS Transp arenc y: If one or more DEFINITY AUDIX systems are in a DCS c luster, the Transfer Into AUDIX feature d ial ac c ess c od e should b e ad ministered the same for all switc hes in the DCS Network. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Transfer Into AUDIX feature interac ts with other DEFINITY AUDIX features as follows: nADAP: Calls that are transferred to sub sc rib er mailb oxes g enerate Call Answer d ata on the ap p rop riate traffic sc reens. This d ata c an b e transferred to a p ersonal c omp uter (in d BASE III PLUS format) using ADAP. nCall Answer: When a c aller is transferred to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox, the Call Answer feature is ac tivated and p lays the sub sc rib er’s g reeting . nFull Mailb ox Answer Mod e: If a c aller is transferred to a subsc rib er’s voic e mailb ox and the mailb ox is full, the c aller will hear a messag e stating that no messag es c an b e left for that sub sc rib er.
DEFINITY AUDIX System Release 4.0 Feature Descriptions 585-300-206 Issue 5 May 1999 Transfer Into AUDIX (CL Mode Only) 308 Interactions with Other Features nMultiling ual: If the Multiling ual feature is ac tivated for a sub sc rib er and an attend ant transfers a c all to the sub sc rib er’s mailbox, the DEFINITY AUDIX system treats the c all as if it were a c all answer c all and the c aller hears whatever g reetings are ac tive for the sub sc rib er. nMultiple Personal Greeting s: If a c aller is transferred to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox and the sub sc rib er is using the Multip le Personal Greeting s feature, the c aller will hear the g reeting sc hed uled for this typ e of c all (internal, external, prime-time, out-of-hours, b usy, or no answer). nName Record by Subscriber: If a c aller is transferred to a sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox and the sub sc rib er is using the Name Rec ord By Sub sc rib er feature, the c aller will hear the sub sc riber voic e his/her own name d uring the g reeting . nTr a f f i c R e p o r t s: Calls that are transferred to sub sc rib er mailb oxes g enerate Call Answer d ata on the app rop riate traffic sc reens. nVoice Mailb ox: Callers who are transferred into the DEFINITY AUDIX system are sent to the intend ed sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox. If the c aller rec ord s a Call Answer messag e for the sub sc rib er, it is stored in the sub sc rib er’s voic e mailb ox.

This is usually done if the c aller wishes to leave c onfidential or tec hnic al information. Requirements Transfer Into Mailbox uses a transfer port. An extension is d esig nated as the “ transfer into AUDIX extension.” NOTE: This extension must have the name AUDIX TRANSFER ad ministered on the switc h. It must b e administered to b e c overed unc ond itionally to the DEFINITY AUDIX hunt g roup. Feature Operation The Transfer Into Mailb ox feature is used whenever a c all is p lac ed to a DEFINITY AUDIX sub sc rib er and the c all is ultimately red irec ted to a DEFINITY AUDIX mailb ox. When a c aller is transferred to a c overing attend ant, suc h as a sec retary, the attend ant c an red irec t the c all to the mailb ox of the originally c alled p arty. Any sub sc rib er c an transfer a c all to a voic e mailb ox; it need not b e a c overing attend ant. The following diag ram and p roc ed ures d esc rib e a c ommon sc enario.
