    About This Document
xiv How This Document Is Organized
    How This Document Is Organized
The features listed in this d oc ument are p resented in alp hab etic al order b y
feature name. Eac h feature sec tion is d ivid ed into the following major head ing s:
nDesc rip tion — Defines the feature and id entifies the servic e it p erforms for
the user or the func tion it serves for the system.
nPoints to Rememb er — Id entifies fac tors to ac c ount for when the feature is
    used .
nAp p lic ations — Id entifies sp ec ific c ustomer need s that this DEFINITY
    AUDIX feature can address.
nConsid erations — Exp and s on p oints to rememb er where nec essary (only
    p resent in some features).
    nRe q u i r e m e n t s — Id entifies hard ware, software, and switc h items that eac h
feature req uires to func tion p rop erly.
nFeature Operation — Lists the c ommon step -b y-step p roc ed ures need ed
    to use the feature.
nInterac tions with Other Features — Lists and d iscusses the interac tion
b etween this feature and b oth switc h features and other DEFINITY AUDIX
    features.
This d oc ument is not b ased on a sp ec ific d efinition of a feature. A sub jec tive
estimate was mad e of the usefulness of eac h asp ec t of the DEFINITY AUDIX
system to the aud ienc es of this b ook. Conseq uently, some feature d esc rip tions
are c onc ep tual d isc ussions of b road func tions (Voic e Mail, Voic e Mailb ox), while
others p oint out smaller, uniq ue features (Dial Ahead/Throug h, Priority Outc alling )
that might otherwise be overlooked. Some features are thus actually sub-features
of others. This inc onsistenc y of sc op e is minor, well-d oc umented where
ap p rop riate, and sub ord inate to the utility of having all asp ec ts of the system at
the fing ertip s of the read er.
    NOTE:
The most imp ortant distinc tion to b e mad e b etween features is whether
they are available in the c ontrol link (CL) or d isp lay set (DS) mod es of
switc h integ ration. The vast majority of the features are availab le in both
mod es. Those that ap p ly to only one mod e are d esig nated as suc h in the
title and head er of eac h feature d esc rip tion.
The following features are availab le only in CL mod e:
    nLeave Word Calling
    nTransfer Into AUDIX
nTransfer Out of AUDIX — Enhanc ed
The following features are availab le only in DS mod e:
    nCall Sc reening
