The system stop s all c alls and the c ursor returns to the DEFINITY AUDIX login p romp t. 5. Log on as c ust. 6. Enter remove mo-disk 7. Take the MO disk for automated b ac kup s out of the MO d isk d rive. 8. Insert a new MO d isk for voic e b ac kup s. 9. Enter add mo-disk initialize 10. Enter a new name for the MO disk in the Volume Name field and press (Enter). NOTE: You may need to use two MO d isks during this p roc ed ure. Name the first d isk “ xyz1” where xyz rep resents the name you want to use for the backup. 11. Press (Enter) ag ain to c onfirm. The system will overwrite all c ontents of the MO d isk. The system saves the new name and the c ursor returns to the c ommand line. F3 F3 F3

To run the save announc ements p roc ed ure, g o to step 16. To run the save nig htly p roc ed ure, skip ping the save weekly and save announc ements p roc ed ures, go to step 18. NOTE: Although the weekly and announc ements b ac kup s are op tional, you must run the nig htly b ac kup to run the voic e b ac kup . 13. The b ac kup b egins and the c ursor returns to the c ommand line. The nig htly b ac kup takes a few minutes to several hours, d ep ending on the numb er of voic ed names saved on the system. Chec k the status of the b ac kup p eriod ic ally using the status mo-disk c ommand . You c an also use the display admin c ommand to c lear the ad m “ A” on the status line. 15. To run the announc ements b ac kup , g o to step 16. To run the nig htly b ac kup , skip p ing the announc ements b ac kup , g o to step 18. NOTE: Your last b ac kup may b e the nig htly b ac kup or the weekly b ac kup , d ep end ing on whether you c hose to run the weekly b ac kup . F3

The b ac kup b egins and the c ursor returns to the c ommand line. The voic e bac kup may take a few minutes to several hours, d ep end ing on the total size of the voic e files saved on the system. Check the status periodically using the status mo-disk c ommand or the display admin c ommand . NOTE: The DEFINITY AUDIX system will asses the storag e sp ac e that is left on the op tic al d isk b efore the voic e b ac kup b egins. If the disk d oes not have room to store all the voic e messag es on the system, the system will post an error messag e within ab out five minutes. 22. If you rec eive an error messag e, g o to step 23. If you do not rec eive an error message, go to step 30. 23. Enter remove mo-disk 24. Remove the MO d isk you used for the nig htly b ac kup and other manual backups. 25. Enter ad d mo-disk initialize 26. Insert a b lank MO d isk. 27. Enter a new name for the MO disk in the Volume Name field and press (Enter). F3 F3

Name the sec ond disk so that its name c orresp onds to first d isk. For examp le, if the name of the first disk is “ xyz1,” name the sec ond d isk “xyz2.” 28. Press (Enter) ag ain to c onfirm. All c ontents of the MO disk will b e overwritten. The system saves the new name and the c ursor returns to the c ommand line. 29. Enter save voice The voic e bac kup may take a few minutes to several hours, d ep end ing on the numb er total size of the voic e files saved on the system. Check the status periodically using the status mo-disk c ommand or the display admin c ommand . NOTE: If you rec eive an error messag e saying that the b ac kup failed , your total voice files are too larg e to save on a MO d isk. Ask sub sc rib ers to d elete old or unnec essary messag es. Then try this p roc ed ure ag ain, starting from St e p 1 . 30. When the system c omp letes the voic e b ac kup , enter remove mo-disk 31. Remove the MO d isk for the voic e b ac kup from the MO d isk d rive. 32. Insert the orig inal MO d isk for automated b ac kup s. 33. Interactions with Switch Features Save Voic e has no d irec t relation to switc h features. While the DEFINITY AUDIX system is in the OA&M state, the system’s voic e p ort will b usy out on the switc h, b ut when the system ad ministrator resets the system to its AUDIX state, the voice p orts will ag ain b ec ome availab le. Interactions with Other DEFINITY AUDIX Features The Save Voic e feature d oes not d irec tly interac t with sp ec ific DEFINITY AUDIX features. However, using the Save Voic e feature in the system’s OA&M state will rend er the system inac c essib le to sub sc rib ers and c allers as long as the b ac kup is running. The Save Voic e feature is also affec ted b y the DEFINITY AUDIX system’s c onfig uration and use in the following ways: n Bac kup s may take several minutes to several hours, d ep end ing on the amount of d ata and the leng th of voic e messag es on the system. nOne 640 Meg ab yte MO d isk will hold a maximum of 75 hours of voic e storag e. If your DEFINITY AUDIX system hold s more than 75 hours of voic e messag es, coord inate your voice b ac kup s with sub sc rib ers. Lucent Tec hnolog ies rec ommend s that you ask sub sc rib ers to delete any unnec essary messages from their voic e mailb oxes b efore you run the Save Voic e p roc ed ure.
