B230/B237/D042 5-318 SM Most of the SPs in this group are prefixed with a letter that indicates the mode of operation (the mode of operation is referred to as an “application”). Before reading the Group 8 Service Table, make sure that you understand what these prefixes mean. Prefixes What it means T: To t a l : ( G r a n d To t a l ) . Grand total of the items c ounted for all applications (C, F, P, etc.).. C: Copy application. F: Fax application. P: Print application. S: Scan application. Totals (pages, jobs, etc.) executed for each application when the job was not stored on the document server. L: Local storage (document server) Totals (jobs, pages, etc.) for the document server. The L: counters work differently case by case. Sometimes, they count jobs/pages stored on the document server; this c an be in document server mode (from the document server window), or from another mode, such as from a printer driver or by pressing the Store File button in the Copy mode window. Sometimes, they include occasions when the user uses a file that is already on the document server. Each counter will be discussed case by case. O: Other applications (external network applications, for example) Refers to network applicat ions such as Web Image Monitor. Utilities developed with the SDK (Software Development Kit) will also be counted with this group in the future. The Group 8 SP codes are limited to 17 charac ters, forced by the necessity of displaying them on the small LCDs of printers and faxes t hat also use these SPs. Read over the list of abbreviations below and refer to it again if you see the name of an SP that you do not understand. Key for Abbreviations

Jobs executed by the customer engineer using the SP modes are not counted. ƒ When using secure printing (when a password is required to start the print job), the job is counted at the time when ei ther “Delete Data” or “Specify Output” is specified. ƒ A job is counted as a fax job when the job is stored for sending. ƒ When a fax is received to fax memory, the F: counter increments but the L: counter does not (the document server is not used). ƒ A fax broadcast counts as one job for the F: counter (the fax destinations in the broadcast are not counted separately). ƒ A fax broadcast is counted only after all the faxes have been sent to their destinations. If one transmission generates an error, then the broadcast will not be counted until the transmission has been completed. ƒ A printed fax report counts as one job for the F: counter. ƒ The F: counter does not distinguish between fax sending or receiving. ƒ When a copy job on the document server is printed, SP8022 also increments, and when a print job stored on the document serv er is printed, SP8024 also increments. ƒ When an original is both copied and stor ed on the document server, the C: and L: counters both increment. ƒ When a print job is stored on the document server, only the L: counter increments. ƒ When the user presses the Document Server button to store the job on the document server, only the L: counter increments. ƒ When the user enters document server m ode and prints data stored on the document server, only the L: counter increments. ƒ When an image received from Palm 2 is received and stored, the L: counter increments. ƒ When the customer prints a report (user code list, for example), the O: counter increments.
