      Press any Class 1 number to open a list of Class 2 SP modes. 
     Press to scroll the show to the previous or next group. 
     Press to scroll to the previous or next 
    display in segments the size of the screen 
    display (page). 
      Press to scroll the show the previous or next line (line by line). 
     Press to move the highlight on the left to 
    the previous or next selection in the list. 
     
    Switching Between SP Mode and Copy Mode for Test Printing 
    1.  In the SP mode, select the test print. Then press Copy Window. 
    2.  Use the copy window (copier mode), to  select the appropriate settings (paper size, 
    etc.) for the test print. 
    3. Press Start 
      to start the test print. 
    4.  Press SP Mode (highlighted) to return to the SP mode screen and repeat from step 1. 
    Selecting the Program Number 
    Program numbers have two or three levels. 
    1.  Refer to the Service Tables to find the  SP that you want to adjust before you begin. 
    2.  Press the Group number on the left side SP Mode window that cont ains the SP that 
    you want to adjust. 
    3.  Use the scrolling buttons in  the center of the SP mode window to show the SP number 
    that you want to open. Then press that number to expand the list. 
    4.  Use the center  touch-panel buttons to scroll to the num ber and title of the item that you 
    want to set and press it. The small entry  box on the right activates and shows the 
    default or the current settings.

    ƒ  Refer to the Service Tables for the range of allowed settings. 
    1.  Do this procedure to enter a setting: 
    ƒ Press 
      to toggle between plus and minus  and use the keypad to enter the 
    appropriate number. The number you enter  writes over the previous setting. 
    ƒ Press 
      to enter the setting. (The value is not registered if you enter a number 
    that is out of range.) 
    ƒ  Press “Yes” when you are prompted to complete the selection. 
    2.  If you need to perform a test print, pre ss Copy Window to open the copy window and 
    select the settings for the test print. Press Start 
      and then press SP Mode 
    (highlighted) in the copy window to return to the SP mode display. 
    3.  Press Exit two times to  return to the copy window when you are finished. 
    Exiting Service Mode 
    Press the Exit key on the touch-panel. 
    Service Mode Lock/Unlock 
    At locations where the machine contains s ensitive data, the customer engineer cannot 
    operate the machine until the Administrator turn s the service mode lock off. This function 
    makes sure that work on the machine is  always done with the permission of the 
    Administrator. 
    1.  If you cannot go into the SP mode, ask the Ad ministrator to log in with the User Tool 
    and then set “Service Mode Lock” to OFF after he or she logs in: 
    User Tools > System Settings > Administrator Tools > Service Mode Lock > OFF 
    ƒ  This unlocks the machine and lets y ou get access to all the SP codes. 
    ƒ  The CE can service the machine and  turn the machine off and on. It is not 
    necessary to ask the Administrator to l og in again each time the machine is turned

    2.  Go into the SP mode and set SP5169 to “1”  if you must use the printer bit switches. 
    3.  After machine servicing is completed:  ƒ  Change SP5169 from “1” to “0”.   
    ƒ  Turn the machine off and on. Tell the  administrator that you have completed 
    servicing the machine. 
    ƒ  The Administrator will then set the “Service Mode Lock” to ON. 
    5.1.3 REMARKS 
    Display on the Control Panel Screen 
    The maximum number of characters which c an show on the control panel screen is limited 
    to 30 characters. For this reason, some of  the SP modes shown on the screen need to be 
    abbreviated. The following are abbreviations  used for the SP modes for which the full 
    description is over 20 characters. 
    Paper Type  
    N: Normal paper 
    MTH: Middle thick paper 
    TH: Thick paper  Paper Feed Station 
     
    P: Paper tray 
    B: By-pass table 
    Color Mode [Color]   
    [K]: Black in B&W mode 
    [Y], [M], or [C]: Yellow, Magent a, or Cyan in Full Color mode 
    [YMC]: Only for Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan 
    [FC]: Full Color mode 
    [FC, K], [FC, Y], [FC, M], or [FC, C]: Bla ck, Yellow, Magenta, or Cyan in full color mode 
    Print Mode 
    S: Simplex 
    D: Duplex  Process Speed
     
    L: Low speed (77 mm/s) 
    M: Middle speed (Not used in this machine)
    H: High speed (138 mm/s) 
     
    Others 
    The following symbols are used in the SP mode tables. 
    FA : Factory setting 
    (Data may be adjusted from the  default setting at the factory. Refer to the factory setting 
    sheets enclosed. You can find it under  the jammed paper removal decal.) 
    DFU : Design/Factory Use only 
    Do not touch these SP  modes in the field.

    A sharp (#) to the right hand side of the mode number column means that the main switch 
    must be turned off and on to effect the setting change. 
    An asterisk (*) to the right hand side of the mode number column means  that this mode is 
    stored in the NVRAM. If you do a RAM clear, this  SP mode will be reset to the default value. 
    “ENG” and “CTL” show which NVRAM contains the data. 
    ƒ  ENG: NVRAM on the BICU board 
    ƒ  CTL: NVRAM on the controller board 
    The settings of each SP mode are explained in th e right-hand column of the SP table in the 
    following way. 
    [Adjustable range / Default setting  / Step ] Alphanumeric 
     
    ƒ  If “Alphanumeric” is written to the right  of the bracket as shown above, the setting 
    of the SP mode shows on the screen using alphanumeric characters instead of 
    only numbers. However, the settings in the bracket in the SP mode table are 
    explained by using only the numbers. 
    SSP: This denotes a “Special Service Program” mode setting.
