Terminal ProgrammingThe body of this Section 400 is devoted to programming the DBS 824 system through a key phoneHowever, the DBS 824 can also be programmed remotely via the Terminal Programming modeUsing this method, commands can be entered on a remote PC or terminal and sent to the system via modemor a local PC or terminal can be connected directly to the DBS 824’s Maintenance port (CN2) on the Serial Interface Unit You can enter the Terminal Programming mode using any of the following three methodsl Direct ConnectionUse a local PC or terminal and a communications package to connect directly to the DBS 824 serial port l DISA Dial into the system through a DISA trunk lOperator Transfer Dial into the system through a regular trunk, then have the operator enter the Remote Programming ID Code This appendix gives an overview of these programming methods Terminal Programming Through a Direct ConnectionTo program the system through a PC or terminal connected to the DBS 824 s CN2 serial port 1Make certain the cables are configured and connected as described in Section 300~Installation2 Make certain the DBS 824 is in the Maintenance modeDial the following codes from the attendant port ON/OFF ##!I3 3Enter your terminal communications program and make sure your PC or terminal’s data communications settings match those of the DBS 824 4From your terminal communications program (terminal emulation in a PC communications package), type the following command #/99 xxxx(where “xxxx” is the site’s password, system default is “9999”) 5After the DBS 824 displays the “Remote Programming” banner screen on the computer, type P then press ENTER 6Follow the directions on the screen to access the desired program Issued 3/l/95DBS 824-10-400B-l
