Notice The Canadian Department of Communications’label identifies certified equipment. This certifi- cation means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, opera-tional and safety requirements. This Depart- ment does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’s satisfaction. Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected tothe facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be in- stalled using an acceptable method of connec-tion. In some cases, the company’s inside wiring associated with single line individual service may be extended by means of a certi- fied connector assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be aware that com-pliance with the above condition may not pre- vent degradation of service in some situations. Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facilitydesignated by the supplier. Any repairs or al- terations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the tele- communications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal me- tallic water pipe system, if present, are con- nected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas. ICAUTION//Users should not attempt to make such connections /themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric, ! inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.I B.Explanation of Load Number The Load Number (LN) assigned to each termi-nal device denotes the percentage of the total load to be connected to a telephone loop whichis used by the device to prevent overloading. The termination on a loop may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the re- quirement that the total of the load numbers of all the devices does not exceed 100. C. Maintenance LimitationsMaintenance on the Starplus Digital Key Tele- phone System is to be performed only by the manufacturer or its authorized agent. The user may not make any changes and/or repairs ex- cept as specifically noted in this manual. If unauthorized alterations or repairs are made, any remaining warranty and the software li- cense for the system will be voided. D.Notice of ComplianceThe Starplus Digital Key Telephone System complies with Class A or Class B limits of the Canadian Radio Interference Regulations. In accordance with FCC Standard 15 (Subpart J),the following information must be supplied to the end user:CAUTION 1 “This equipment generates and uses RF energy and if not /Installed and used. in accordance with the Instruction j Manual, may cause interference to Radio-Communications.’ lt has been tested and found to, compfy with the llmits.for aj Class A or Class. B computing device, pursuant to SubpartI J or Part.15 of the.PCC.Pules, which aredesigned to provide/ reasonable protection against such interference, whenj operated in a. commercial environment. Operation of this iequipment in a. residential, area is likely to cause 1 interference, in which case the user, at his own expense, will be required to.take whatever measures may be requiredi to correct the interference.” E. OPX Circuit The Starplus Digital Key Telephone System may be equipped with Single Line Adapters (OPX) modules which provide a 48V FCC reg- istered 2500-type single line off-premise exten- sion interface port.l A DOC registered interface such as a CA1 1is also required to connect to the public network. 100.4 UUCSA SAFETY COMPLIANCE The Starplus Digital Key Telephone System has metall safety requirements and was found be in compli- ance with the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1459 Second Edition and Canadian Standards Associa- tion (CSA) C22.2, No. 225 Standard. The StarplusDigital Key Telephone System is authorized to bear the UL and CSA marks.-- 100-2Issue 1, March 1994
