    Requirements
    Each Central Office (CO), Foreign Exchange (FX), Wide Area 
    Telecommunications Service (WATS), or Personal Central Office Line (PCOL) 
    trunk is connected to 1 port of either an 8-port TN747 or to 1 of an assortment of 
    non-United States CO Trunk circuit packs. 
    Installation
    1. See ‘‘Off-Premises Station Wiring’’ on p ag e 5-32 and  install a CO trunk

    req uired ).

    Add Tie Trunks
    Requirements
    Each tie trunk connects to 1 port of a 4-port TN760 or to an assortment of 
    non-United States tie trunk circuit packs.
    Installation
    1. Determine the p ort assig nment of the trunk from Trunk Group  form
    2. Install a TN760 or a non-United  States tie trunk c irc uit p ac k in the 
    assig ned  c arrier slot (if an add itional c irc uit pac k is req uired ).
    3. For c ustomer-owned  (not leased ) tie-trunk fac ilities (suc h as c amp us 
    environments), TN760 c irc uit p ac ks p rovid e sig naling  c ap ab ilities b eyond  
    those sp ec ified  b y the ind ustry-wid e E & M stand ard . Use Fig ure 5-32
     and  
    Tab le 5-20
     to c hoose the p referred  sig naling  format, set switc hes on the 
    TN760 c irc uit p ac k, and  ad minister the p ort.

    Add DS1 Tie and OPS
    The TN722B DS1 Tie Trunk, TN767C (or later) DS1 Interface, and TN464C DS1 
    Interface circuit packs provide connections to a 1.544 Mbps or 2.08 Mbps DS1 
    facility as 24 independent 64 kbps trunks. When upgrading from a TN722 to a 
    TN767C:
    1. Remove all TN722 trunk memb ers from affec ted  trunk g roup s.
    2. Type remove ds1 PCSS
     (PCSS is the slot containing the TN722).
    3. Remove the TN722 c irc uit p ac k.
    4. Put the TN767C c irc uit p ac k into the same slot.
    5. Wait until the red  LED g oes off. The hard ware tests take 12 to 20 sec ond s 
    to run. When the red  LED g oes off, the tests have c omp leted .
    6. If the red  LED stays on, reseat the b oard and  rep eat this step .
    7. Type add ds1 PCSS
    .
    8. Continue with ap p rop riate p roc ed ures to set up  memb ers of trunk g roups.
    Service Interruption
    Adding DS1 tie-trunk service may require a service interruption; notify the 
    customer in advance as to when the addition will be carried out.
    Disable Scheduled Maintenance and Alarm 
    Origination to INADS
    1. To p revent sc hed uled  d aily maintenanc e from interfering  with the up d ate 
    or up g rad e, typ e change system-parameters maintenance
     and  p ress 
    En t e r.
    2. If sc heduled maintenanc e has b eg un, set the Stop Time
     field  to 1 minute 
    after the c urrent time.
    or
    If sc hed uled  maintenanc e has not
     b eg un, set the Start Time
     field  to a 
    time after the upgrade is completed. For example, if you start the upgrade 
    at 8:00 p .m. and  the up g rad e takes 90 minutes, set the Start Time
     field  
    to 21:30.
    !CAUTION:

    Shut Down DEFINITY AUDIX System
    !WARNING:
    Neg lec ting  to shut d own an AUDIX assemb ly b efore p owering down the 
    system c ab inet where it resides c an d amage the AUDIX d isk.
    1. If a DEFINITY AUDIX resid es in the system to be up g rad ed , shut d own the 
    AUDIX assemb ly and  allow the d isk to c omp letely sp in d own.
    Power Down System
    NOTE:
    Power d own the PPN only if the existing  Tone-Cloc k is b eing  rep lac ed  in a 
    standard  reliab ility system.
    1. At the PPN, set the main c irc uit b reaker to OFF.
    2. At eac h EPN, set the main c irc uit breaker to OFF.
    Add Circuit Packs
    1. Determine the port assignments of the circuit packs to be added.
    2. Install the TN722B DS1 Tie Trunk, the TN767C DS1 Interfac e, or TN464C 
    DS1 Interfac e c irc uit p ac k in assig ned  c arrier slot.
    3. Rep lac e an existing  TN756 Tone Detec tor/Generator c irc uit p ac k with:
    a. TN768, TN780, or a non-United  States TN419B Tone-Cloc k
    b . TN748B or a non-United States TN420B Tone Detec tor
    Install Cables
    Install H600-307 cable from the cabinet to a Channel Service Unit (CSU) and 
    install cables from the CSU to the MDF as required.
    Power Up System
    1. At eac h EPN, set the main c irc uit breaker to ON.
    2. At the PPN, set the main c irc uit b reaker to ON.
    3. The system p erforms the level 4 reb ooting  p roc ess, load ing  the system 
    translations from the translation c ard  or removab le med ia. Reb ooting 
    takes 8 to 11 minutes.
