Layout
Locate Information Outlets
The customer or marketing representative must provide floor plans showing the 
information outlet loc ations and  typ es (flush- or surfac e-mounted ) req uired . The 
floor plans must also show a c omplete overview of all c onduit and cabling 
fac ilities in the b uild ing.
Locate Satellites and Sites
Use the following  information when determining  site, satellite, or adap ter 
loc ations.
a. Keep  the numb er of loc ations to a minimum.
b . To minimize the station wiring d istanc es, c entrally loc ate the 
sites/satellites, or ad ap ters among  the information outlets.
c . Site/satellite loc ations must b e easily ac c essib le and  c ontain AC-p owered  
rec ep tac les.
Adapter Requirements
One 258A/BR2580A ad ap ter is req uired for eac h 25-pair station c ab le c ontaining  
4-p air station c irc uits. One 356A ad ap ter is req uired  for eac h 25-p air station 
c ab le c ontaining  3-p air station c irc uits.
Hardware Requirements
Hard ware req uirements are the same as for the eq uip ment room.
Sizing 4-Pair Station Cables
Use the sc ale of the floor p lan to d etermine the ap p roximate leng th of the station 
c ab les req uired  p er the stand ard SYSTIMAX wiring  c onc epts.

Sizing 25-Pair and Multiple 25-Pair Station 
Cables
Use the sc ale of the floor p lan to d etermine the ap p roximate leng th of eac h 
25-p air station c ab le. The c ables must b e selec ted and  p rop erly sized  to make 
maximum use of the hard ware at the equip ment room or satellite loc ation.
Use 25-p air B25A c ab les to c onnec t ad ap ters d irec tly to the MDF or satellite 
loc ation. Stag g ered -fing er c ab les, eq uip ped  with fac tory-installed  25-pair 
c onnec tors at b oth end s, should  b e used  when multip le 25-p air c ab les are used  
b etween the eq uip ment room or satellite loc ation and  the ad ap ters. B25A c ab les 
are req uired at the eq uip ment room or satellite loc ation to c onnec t the 
stag g ered-fing er c ab les to the 110-typ e terminal bloc ks.
Use the following  information to d etermine the c ab le size (c ab le p airs) req uired  
for either 3-p air or 4-p air c irc uits. Note the leng th and  size on the floor p lan to aid  
in the ord ering  and installation of the station c ab les.
3-Pair Station Cable Circuits
To d etermine the size of station c ab les c ontaining  3-p air c irc uits, multip ly the 
numb er of 3-pair c irc uits req uired  at the satellite loc ation b y 3.5. Then, using  the 
minimum size c ab le req uirement, round  up  the c ab le size req uirement to the next 
highest available c ab le b und le size. This will p rovid e add itional p airs for g rowth 
and  c omp ensate for every twenty-fifth p air in a c ab le that is not used .
4-Pair Station Cable Circuits
To d etermine the size of station c ab les c ontaining  4-p air c irc uits, find  out how 
many information outlets are served  b y the eq uip ment room MDF or satellite 
loc ation MDF. Multiply the numb er of information outlets by 4. Then, using  the 
minimum size c ab le req uirement, round  up  the c ab le size req uirement to the next 
highest available c ab le b und le size.
NOTE:
This formula may not c omp ensate for the unused  twenty-fifth p air in all 
c ases. If not, it must b e allowed  for.
