    NOTE:
    With a 7400A or 7400B+ data mod ule, use a 4-wire d ig ital line c irc uit p ac k.
    With the 8400B+ d ata mod ule, use a 2-wire d igital line c irc uit p ac k.
    In p lac e of a 7400B+ d ata mod ule, you c an use a 7400A d ata mod ule. If
you do, set the 7400A to DCE Mod e.
    2. Wire the d ig ital line c irc uit p ac k to the wall jac k as follows:
nFor a 7400B+ , wire to the sec ond and third pair of the wall jac k.
nFor an 8400B+ , wire to the first p air of the wall jac k.
Setting the Data Module to DCE Mode
    1. Cyc le the p ower to the d ata mod ule. The unit p erforms a self test and
    displays its operating mode.
    2. Observe the d isp lay.
    a. If the d isp lay reads DCE mod e, p roc eed to the next sec tion.
b . If the d isp lay reads DTE mod e, c omp lete the following step s:
    1. Remove the p ower c ord from the unit.
    2. Remove the c over from the top rear of the unit.
    3. Remove the mod e selec t c irc uit b oard and turn it around .
    4. Rep lac e the c over.
    5. Connect the power c ord.The unit performs a self test.
    NOTE:
The p ower LED must b e stead y on. If the p ower LED is b linking, the d ata
mod ule is not c ommunic ating with the DEFINITY ECS. Chec k the wiring at
the MDF, wall jac ks, and d ata mod ule.
Adding a Data Module to the Switch
    1. Add the data module to the switch by entering add data-module
     number
    or add data-module next
    .
    2. In the Type:
