    Commands
    System c ommand s are stand ard word s and phrases instruc ting the system to 
    p erform a spec ific  func tion. The c ommand s are arranged  in a hierarc hy of 
    keyword s; that is, enter 1 c ommand  to go to a d ifferent level. The c ommand s 
    c ontain three parts: ACTION, OBJECT, and  QUALIFIER.
    nACTION is the first p art of the c ommand . When Command:
     ap p ears on the 
    sc reen. The ACTION sp ec ifies the op eration d esired . Examp les inc lude 
    add,
     duplicate,
     change,
     remove,
     display,
     list,
     and save.
    nOBJECT is the sec ond  p art of the c ommand  and  sp ec ifies the p artic ular 
    ob jec t to b e ad ministered . Typ ic al entries are hunt-group,
     coverage 
    path,
     and station.
    nQUALIFIER is the last p art of the c ommand . It is 1 or more word s or d ig its 
    used  to further id entify or c omp lete the OBJECT. For examp le, hunt g roup  
    15 or station 3600, where 15 and  3600 are q ualifiers.
    An examp le of the c ommand  line req uired  to ad d  a station with extension numb er 
    1234 is add station 1234
    . In this examp le, add
     is the ACTION, station
     is the 
    OBJECT, and  1234
     is the QUALIFIER. In the c ommand  line, spac es are req uired  
    b etween the ACTION, OBJECT, and  QUALIFIER.
    To save time, enter enoug h letters for eac h p art of the c ommand to make it 
    uniq ue. For examp le, if you want to enter the c ommand  change 
    system-parameters country-options
    , typ ing  cha sys coun
     is ac c ep tab le. 
    However, typ ing  the entire c ommand  is always b est.
    NOTE:
    The c raft log in may not b e allowed  to p erform some of the step s needed  to 
    initialize the system. If ac c ess is d enied  to some of these p roc ed ures, 
    c ontac t your Luc ent Tec hnologies representative for assistanc e.

    System Administration
    NOTE:
    An “ init”  log in is req uired  to p erform the following . Contac t the reg ional 
    CSA (Customer Software Assoc iate) to assig n the Offer Categ ory op tion. 
    Maintenanc e c ap abilities to initialize the system and  ac c ess to either an 
    internal or external mod em are the only c ommand  op tions availab le until

    Log into the System

    Certain c ountry options need  to b e set to turn red  failure ind ic ation LEDs off.

    5. If all red  LEDs d o not g o off, reseat (unp lug  and  reinsert) any 
    purple-labeled circuit packs displaying red LEDs.
    !CAUTION:
    To avoid  a d isk c rash, never reset the DEFINITY AUDIX System 
    without first shutting  it d own. Shut d own the DEFINITY AUDIX System 
    (and  allow the d isk to c omp letely spin d own) b efore unp lug g ing  the 
    assemb ly. See ‘‘
    DEFINITY AUDIX Power Proc ed ures’’ on p ag e 3-50 
    for the p rop er p roc ed ures.
    6. If the red  LEDs still d o not g o off, refer to D EFI N I TY En t e rp r i se  
    Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8r, or to DEFINITY 
    Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8si.
    NOTE:
    Ig nore the red  alarm ind ic ation LED on the TN767 or TN464 DS1 
    c irc uit pac k until after the DS1 c irc uit p ac k is ad ministered . Alarms 
    will appear in the Alarm Log when power is applied to the system 
    before all equipment connecting to port circuit packs is installed. 
    Normally, some alarms will be logged when power is applied to the 
    system, b ut should  b e resolved  q uic kly. If no eq uip ment is 
    c onnec ted  to the p ort c irc uit p ac ks, alarms assoc iated  with these 
    p orts c an take up  to four hours to log , b ut will c lear automatic ally 
    after all eq uip ment is installed  and  op erating  c orrec tly.

    Circuit Pack Administration
    After the eq uip ment is installed  (inc lud ing  c irc uit p ac ks), the c irc uit pac ks must 
    b e ad ministered . Refer to DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 
    8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e for more information.
    The following information d esc ribes general ad ministration information:
    nUse the Circ uit Pac ks form to ad minister c irc uit p ac ks to c arrier slots. The 
    c irc uit p ac ks must b e installed  (or assig ned  using  the Circ uit Pac ks form) 
    before administering voice terminals, attendant consoles, or trunks.
    nEac h p ag e of the form rep resents 1 c arrier in the c ab inet shown on the 
    c ommand  line. For Release 8si, all c arriers and slots ap p ear even if they 
    are not inc lud ed  in the hard ware.
    nIt is not nec essary to fill in the Circ uit Pac ks form if the c irc uit p ac ks are 
    installed  at the time of ad ministration.
    nRefer to DEFINITY Communic ations System Generic  3 Planning  and 
    Config uration, 555-230-601, for more information ab out c irc uit pac k 
    ad ministration and port assig nment rec ord s.
    nFor initial installation, assig n c irc uit p ac ks to slots using the hard ware 
    configuration layout record from the fac tory or Customer Services
