    5Select the desired zoom ratio type, and then use the keypad to specify 
    the zoom ratio.
    – To enlarge or reduce the scan at a zoom ratio that is the same hor-
    izontally and vertically, select a zoom ratio for “Zoom with Constant 
    X and Y Ratio”.
    – To enlarge or reduce the X and Y directions at different ratios, touch 
    [X] or [Y] below “Individual Zoom”, and then specify the corre-
    sponding zoom ratios.
    – To change the zoom ratio for one of the Set Zoom buttons, touch 
    [Set Zoom]. Three zoom ratios can be stored. In addition, the “Min-
    imal” zoom ratio can be changed.
    6Touch [OK], and then touch [OK] in the next two screens that appear.

    Density
    Specify the density for scanning.
    1Touch [Scan Setting] in the Scan mode screen.
    2Touch [Density].
    – To select a specific density, touch [Light] or [Dark].
    – Touch [Std.] to select the default setting.
    – To scan with the density most appropriate for the detected density 
    of the document, touch [Auto].
    3Touch [OK], and then touch [OK] in the next screen that appears.

    Original Setting
    Specify the type of document that is loaded, for example, if it contains mixed 
    sizes or is folded in a zigzag.
    To specify the Original Settings
    1Touch [Scan Settings] in the Scan mode screen.
    2Touch [Original Setting].
    ItemDescription
    Mixed Original Select this setting when documents of different sizes are 
    loaded into the ADF. The scan speed is decreased since the 
    size of each page is detected before it is scanned.
    Z-Folded Original Select this setting when the loaded document is folded in a 
    zigzag.
    Original Direction Specifies the orientation of the document. The data is 
    processed so that the top and bottom ends are correctly 
    positioned when the document is scanned.
    Bind Specifies the binding position for punched holes and staples.
    This function adjusts the binding position so that it is not 
    reversed when a double-sided document is scanned.
    Left: A document with a bind on the left side.
    Top: A document with a bind on the top side.
    Right: A document with a bind on the right side.
    Auto: If the length is 11-3/4 in. or less, the binding position is 
    along the long side of the paper. If the length is more than 
    11-3/4 in., the binding position is along the short side of the 
    paper.

    3Specify the original settings.
    – If “Original Direction” is selected, a screen for selecting the direc-
    tion appears. Select the direction, and then touch [OK].
    – To select the default settings, touch [Reset].
    – If “Bind” is selected, a screen for selecting the document binding 
    position appears. Select the binding position, and then touch [OK].

    Book Scanning (Application)
    Select this function when scanning page spreads. The four scanning meth-
    ods listed below are available. In addition, frame erasing and center erasing 
    can be specified.
    Shadows that occur from scanning page spreads can be erased from the 
    scans.

    Note 
    If the width to be erased is specified using the Book Erase functions in 
    the Book Scanning screen, the same value is set for the “Erase” function 
    on the Application screen.
    ItemDescription
    Book Spread Scans a spread as one page.
    Book Separation Scans a spread as separate left and right pages (2 pages).
    Front Cover Scans the first page as a front cover.
    Front and Back Cover The 1st page is scanned as the Front cover, the 2nd page 
    scanned as the Back cover, and those including the 3rd page 
    and the succeeding pages are scanned as the Body of Docu-
    ments.
    ItemDescription
    Erase Erases the perimeter of the document. The width to be erased 
    can also be specified separately for the top, left, right, and 
    bottom sides within the range of 1/16 in. to 2 in.
    Center  Erase Erases the shadow along the center binding. The width can be 
    set within the range of 1/16 in. to 1-3/6 in.

    To use the “Book Scan” function
    1Touch [Scan Settings] in the Scan mode screen.
    2Touch [Application].
    3Touch [Book Scanning].
    4Specify the Book Scanning settings.
    – For details on the “Erase” and “Center Erase” functions, refer to 
    “Frame Erase (Application)” on page 2-67 and “Center Erase (Ap-
    plication)” on page 2-69.
    – Select the Position when [Book Separation], [Front Cover], or [Front 
    and Back Cover] is selected.

    Booklet Pagination (Application)
    The left and right pages of a page spread can be scanned separately.
    To specify Booklet Pagination settings
    1Touch [Scan Settings] in the Scan mode screen.
    2Touch [Application].
    3Touch [Booklet Pagination].
    ItemDescription
    Left Bind Select this setting for documents where the pages are bound 
    on the left side. The left page of the spread will be scanned 
    first, then the right page.
    Right Bind Select this setting for documents where the pages are bound 
    on the right side. The right page of the spread will be scanned 
    first, then the left page.

    Annotations (Application)
    When saving a scanned document, add the preset domain name, sequence 
    number, date, and time, and then save the document in a box.
    1Touch [Scan Settings] in the Scan mode screen.
    2Press [Application].
    3Press [Annotation].
    4Select the saving destination for the annotation user box.
    5Touch [OK] three times.
