Maintenance 9-2OPERATION GUIDE Cleaning Clean the machine regularly to ensure optimum output quality. CAUTION: For safety, always unplug the power cord before cleaning the machine. Original Cover / Glass Platen Wipe the backside of the original cover, the inside of the document processor and the glass platen with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol or mild detergent. Maintenance OPERATION GUIDE9-3 9 Slit Glass/Dual scanning area If black streaks or dirt appears in copies when using the optional document processor, clean the slit glass with the supplied cleaning cloth. The message Clean the slit glass. may be displayed if the slit glass requires cleaning. When using the document processor to allow dual scanning, clean the dual scanning unit also. IMPORTANT: Wipe the slit gla sses with the dry accessory cloth. Do not use water,soap or solvents for cleaning. 1Remove the cloth from the cleaning cloth compartment. 2Open the document processor and wipe the slit glass (a). 3Wipe the white guide (b) on the document processor. 4When using the document processor to allow dual scanning, open the top cover of the document processor. Hold 1.Open the document processor. 2.Clean the surface of the slit glass located on the left side with the supplied dry cloth. 3.Close the document processor and press [End]. Maintenance OPERATION GUIDE9-5 9 2Remove cleaning brush (blue colored). 3Pull up and open left cover 1. 4As shown in the figure, clean dirt from the separator by moving the brush from side to side along the separator. 5Put away the cleaning brush, press the specified position of the front cover and left cover 1 to close. Maintenance 9-6OPERATION GUIDE Transfer Roller 1 Open the front cover. 2Remove the cleaning brush (blue colored). 3Pull up and open left cover 1. 4As shown in the figure, clean dirt from the transfer roller by moving the brush from side to side along the roller while rotating the roller by turning the gear at the left end of the roller. Maintenance 9-8OPERATION GUIDE Toner Container and Waste Toner Box Replacement When the touch panel displays Add toner, replace the toner. Every time you replace the toner container, be sure to clean the parts as instructed below. Dirty parts may deteriorate output quality. CAUTION: Do not attempt to incinerate the toner contai ner or the waste toner box. Dangerous sparks may cause burns. Toner Container Replacement 1 Open the front cover. 2Turn the toner container release lever to the vertical position. 3Pull out the old toner container as far as it will go. Maintenance OPERATION GUIDE9-9 9 4Remove the old toner container by pulling it out by the handle. 5Place the used toner container in the provided plastic disposal bag. Hold the new toner container in both hands and shake it from side to side several times. 6Hold the new toner container in both hands and gently push it in. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals
Maintenance 9-10OPERATION GUIDE 7Turn the toner container release lever to the horizontal position. Use the same procedure to replace the other color toner containers. 8Close the front cover. NOTE: Return the exhausted toner container and waste toner box to your dealer or service representative. The collected toner container and waste toner box will be recycled or disposed in accordance with the relevant regulations Waste Toner Box Replacement 1 Open the front cover. 2Press the release button (1) and pull out the waste toner tray (2).
