    System Printer
The system p rinter, rather than the slave p rinter attac hed d irec tly to the
manag ement terminal, is used to sc hed ule rep orts to b e p rinted . However, when
desired and on demand, you may print individual reports using the management
    terminal printer.
The Rep ort Sc hed uler feature uses the system p rinter as its outp ut d evic e. The
hard ware p arameters for the system p rinter must have b een p reviously
    ad ministered .
You use Pag e 4 of the Feature Related System Parameters sc reen to ad minister
the hardware parameters of the system p rinter. To ac c ess this sc reen, use the

    System Printer Data Link Operation
    and Maintenance
Operation and maintenanc e of the system p rinter d ata link is sig nific antly
d ifferent from the CDR and journal p rinter d ata links. For example, the CDR and
journal p rinter d ata links are maintained in a c onstant link up state, while the
system p rinter d ata link is only b roug ht up onc e every 15 minutes p rovid ed there
are rep orts to b e p rinted, or when an immediate rep ort is sc hed uled .
The system p rinter data link has three states that id entify its op erational
c ond ition. The states are: (1) link up , (2) link d own, and (3) maintenanc e
b usy-out. Whenever the c ommunic ation p ath (inc lud ing software p roc esses,
hard ware c ab ling , and p rinter) func tions p rop erly and d ata is exc hang ed
suc c essfully b etween them, the d ata link is d efined as b eing in the link up state.
The link d own state refers to all times exc ep t whenever rep orts are p rinted and
whenever maintenanc e p ersonnel d isab le the link. The maintenanc e b usy-out
state is the result of exec uting the busyout sp-link
     c ommand from the
manag ement terminal. While in the maintenanc e b usy-out state, the switc h
software p roc esses and link retry op erations are d isab led .

It is assumed all c ustomers monitor the op erating status of the system p rinter
and , as nec essary, refill the p ap er b in, relieve any pap er jams, verify the p rinter is
    receiving power, and so on.
    NOTE:
The Basic Call Management System (BCMS) log in c annot exec ute the
    busyout sp-link
c ommand . This is normally only p erformed via the
maintenanc e login. Therefore, as nec essary, all non-maintenanc e
p ersonnel should simp ly flip the p rinter p ower switc h to the OFF p osition to
refill the p aper b in and remove jammed p ap er. Sub seq uently, the
    system-p rinter c an b e restored on-line b y turning the p ower switc h ON.
If the system p rinter link g enerates either a warning alarm or a minor alarm, the
p rob lem should be referred to the p rop er maintenanc e p ersonnel.
    Report Scheduler
The Rep ort Sc hed uler c an b e used with many switc h features. Sp ec ific ally,
    virtually all list

logins c an sc hed ule rep orts.
Whenever a c ommand c ontaining the schedule
op tion is exec uted , it g enerates
    a Job Id . A maximum of 50 d ifferent Job Ids (50 d ifferent rep orts) c an b e
sc hed uled for p rinting . The Rep ort Sc hed uler feature is used to sp ec ify the ac tual
d ay(s) and time of d ay eac h report is p rinted. For a list of measurement
    c ommand s that c an b e sc heduled, refer to Table 1-1
    .
    Print Intervals
For p urp oses of p rinting rep orts, three p rint intervals are availab le:
nImmediate — The report prints immediately.
nScheduled — The rep ort p rints eac h week for the time and d ays
sp ec ified . The d ate, time, and d ay(s) p arameters for the rep ort are set
ad ministratively. To c hang e them, re-ad ministration is req uired .
nDeferred — The rep ort g enerates onc e for the time and d ay spec ified

TimeWithin a g iven hour, rep orts c an b e sc heduled at 15-minute
intervals (that is, xx:00, xx:15, xx:30, or xx:45). The system
    p rinter req uires sig nific ant switch p rocessor resources;
therefore, it is imp ortant rep orts b e sc hed uled for off-p eak
hours. Furthermore, you should not sc hed ule all rep orts for the
same hour and time interval, b ut stag ger them ac ross multip le

If, b ec ause of p rinting volume or other p rob lems, a rep ort is not
p rinted within 4 hours of its sc hed uled time interval, it is not
p rinted until its next sc hed uled time interval. This is a 4-hour
(non-ad ministrable) limit. Immed iate and d eferred job s are
