Ovf TGOverflow Trunk Group. The numb er of outg oing c alls that
req uested the sp ec ified servic e/feature, on the ISDN-PRI
CBC trunk group, but are not carried because the calls
arrived to find no id le trunk members availab le.
    NOTE:
There are three overflow field s, eac h with a d ifferent
p riority. They are: overflow trunk g roup (Ovf TG
    )
(priority 1), overflow maximum (Ovf Max
    ) (p riority 2),
and overflow servic es/features (Ovf S/F
    ) (p riority 3). If
more than one of the overflow c ond itions is met, only
the field that rep resents the c ond ition with the hig hest
p riority is inc remented .
    Ovf S/F
Overflow Servic es/Features. The numb er of c alls that
req uested the sp ec ified servic e/feature b ut d enied b ec ause
the c alls arrived und er the following c ond itions:
nThe spec ified servic e/feature is at or ab ove its minimum
c hannel alloc ation and b elow its maximum alloc ation.
nThere are id le c hannels availab le in the trunk group , b ut
they are reserved to meet the minimum c hannel alloc ation
    for other servic es/features.
    Suggested Actions:
1.Investigate the p ossib ility of raising the “ Min Chn”
req uirements for this servic e/feature.
    2. Investigate the p ossib ility of inc reasing the number of
memb ers for the trunk g roup .
    3. Determine whether or not the “ Min Chn” assig nments for
the other services/features are appropriate. For example,
if the c olumn “ % TBM” d isp lays a hig h numb er for one or
more of the other servic e/features, then you c an lower the
minimums (for one or more of the other servic es/features).
This makes more trunks availab le for this servic e/feature.

used -up its allotted maximum numb er of c hannels. In this
c ase, the trunk g roup may still have trunk memb ers available
    for the other servic es/features.
    Suggested Actions:
    1. Investigate the p ossib ility of raising the numb er
ad ministered in the Max Chn field . This is only p ossib le
p rovid ed the free p ool is not exc eed ed . To d etermine
whether or not you have more trunks availab le for a S/F
    calculate the following:
For example, use the above equations with the data in the
    formula as follows:
    2. Consid er ad d ing more trunks to the trunk g roup and
inc rease the maximum for the id entified servic e/feature.
    % TBM
Percentage of Trunks Below Minimum. The p erc entag e of
time d uring the p olling interval that the numb er of c hannels in
use by the sp ec ified servic e/feature is b elow the sp ec ified
    minimum.
    Suggested Action:
Lower the “ Min Chn” sinc e this may b e
    the c ause for the “ Ovf S/F” .
    NOTE:
If the % TBM field is hig h, then you are reserving more
trunk memb ers than will b e used. Determine if another
servic e/feature need s more trunks and , if so, lower the
“ Min Chn” for this servic e/feature.

    b elow their minimums.
nThe sp ec ified feature or servic e is at its maximum numb er

    Suggested Actions:
    1. A number in the Ovf TG field ind ic ates the p hysic al
maximum numb er of trunks is exhausted . Unless the
trunk g roup is the last p referenc e in the routing p attern,
overflow is to the next trunk g roup . Otherwise, the
ob vious c hoic e is to ad d more trunks to the trunk g roup .
    2. If the Ovf S/F field ind ic ates a p rob lem (for examp le, a

     in the
    Ovf S/F description.

Peak hour and b usy hour are synonymous. With c onventional
traffic theory data analysis, there are two method s for
d etermining the p eak hour. One is the time-c onsistent p eak
hour, meaning hourly usag e values are averag ed ac ross d ays
for eac h hour of the d ay. The other is the b ounc ing p eak hour,
meaning the hig hest usag e is selec ted for eac h d ay without
regard to the averag e ac ross d ays. For the b ounc ing p eak

d uring the time-c onsistent busy hour. These traffic rep orts and

b ounc ing p eak hour method . Note that if the total usag e for the
