DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-189 Trunk Group Call-By-Call Measurements Report 3 Ovf TGOverflow Trunk Group. The numb er of outg oing c alls that req uested the sp ec ified servic e/feature, on the ISDN-PRI CBC trunk group, but are not carried because the calls arrived to find no id le trunk members availab le. NOTE: There are three overflow field s, eac h with a d ifferent p riority. They are: overflow trunk g roup (Ovf TG ) (priority 1), overflow maximum (Ovf Max ) (p riority 2), and overflow servic es/features (Ovf S/F ) (p riority 3). If more than one of the overflow c ond itions is met, only the field that rep resents the c ond ition with the hig hest p riority is inc remented . Ovf S/F Overflow Servic es/Features. The numb er of c alls that req uested the sp ec ified servic e/feature b ut d enied b ec ause the c alls arrived und er the following c ond itions: nThe spec ified servic e/feature is at or ab ove its minimum c hannel alloc ation and b elow its maximum alloc ation. nThere are id le c hannels availab le in the trunk group , b ut they are reserved to meet the minimum c hannel alloc ation for other servic es/features. Suggested Actions: 1.Investigate the p ossib ility of raising the “ Min Chn” req uirements for this servic e/feature. 2. Investigate the p ossib ility of inc reasing the number of memb ers for the trunk g roup . 3. Determine whether or not the “ Min Chn” assig nments for the other services/features are appropriate. For example, if the c olumn “ % TBM” d isp lays a hig h numb er for one or more of the other servic e/features, then you c an lower the minimums (for one or more of the other servic es/features). This makes more trunks availab le for this servic e/feature. Table 3-52. Trunk Group Call-By-Call Measurements Report — Continued Field Description Continued on next page
DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-190 Trunk Group Call-By-Call Measurements Report 3 Ovf MaxOverflow maximum. The numb er of c alls not c arried b ec ause the c alls orig inated at a time when the servic e/feature alread y used -up its allotted maximum numb er of c hannels. In this c ase, the trunk g roup may still have trunk memb ers available for the other servic es/features. Suggested Actions: 1. Investigate the p ossib ility of raising the numb er ad ministered in the Max Chn field . This is only p ossib le p rovid ed the free p ool is not exc eed ed . To d etermine whether or not you have more trunks availab le for a S/F calculate the following: For example, use the above equations with the data in the formula as follows: 2. Consid er ad d ing more trunks to the trunk g roup and inc rease the maximum for the id entified servic e/feature. % TBM Percentage of Trunks Below Minimum. The p erc entag e of time d uring the p olling interval that the numb er of c hannels in use by the sp ec ified servic e/feature is b elow the sp ec ified minimum. Suggested Action: Lower the “ Min Chn” sinc e this may b e the c ause for the “ Ovf S/F” . NOTE: If the % TBM field is hig h, then you are reserving more trunk memb ers than will b e used. Determine if another servic e/feature need s more trunks and , if so, lower the “ Min Chn” for this servic e/feature. Table 3-52. The p erc entag e of time (0 to 100%) d uring the measurement interval that the sp ec ified servic e/feature c ould not get a c hannel b ec ause of at least one of the following reasons: nAll trunks in the ISDN-PRI CBC trunk g roup are b usy on a c all or b usied -out b y maintenanc e. nThis servic e/feature is ab ove its minimum; and all availab le trunks are reserved for other features/servic es b elow their minimums. nThe sp ec ified feature or servic e is at its maximum numb er of c hannels. Suggested Actions: 1. A number in the Ovf TG field ind ic ates the p hysic al maximum numb er of trunks is exhausted . Unless the trunk g roup is the last p referenc e in the routing p attern, overflow is to the next trunk g roup . Otherwise, the ob vious c hoic e is to ad d more trunks to the trunk g roup . 2. If the Ovf S/F field ind ic ates a p rob lem (for examp le, a sig nific ant number), refer to Suggested Actions in the Ovf S/F description. 3. If the Ovf Max field ind ic ates a p rob lem (for examp le, a sig nific ant number), refer to Suggested Actions in the Ovf Max d escrip tion. NOTE: If the ISDN-PRI CBC trunk g roup is ad ministered to support wideband switching, the title WIDEBAND Sup p ort ap p ears in the rep ort title. Table 3-52. The ratio of outg oing c alls not c arried for a sp ec ified servic e/feature to the outg oing c alls offered by the servic e/feature. For an ISDN-PRI CBC trunk g roup without a q ueue, the c alls not c arried are those c alls that find all fac ilities b usy for the sp ec ified servic e/feature. For an ISDN-PRI CBC trunk g roup with a q ueue, the c alls not c arried are q ueue ab and ons p lus those c alls that find all fac ilities for the sp ec ified servic e/feature b usy and c annot b e q ueued b ec ause the q ueue is full. Suggested Actions: 1. Look at the % ATB c olumn and id entify any servic e/feature with a hig h value. Follow the Suggested Actions in the % ATB d esc rip tion. 2. You c an inc rease the leng th of the q ueue rather than ad d ing more trunks. Sub seq uently, you should monitor the Queue Ab and onments field to insure it stays within reasonab le limits. 3. If c ond itions are suc h that Item 1 ab ove is not ap p rop riate, you may find it nec essary to ad d more trunks. Table 3-52. DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-197 Wideband Trunk Group Summary Report 3 Table 3-54. Wideband Trunk Group Summary Report Field Description Peak Hour for Wideband Usage for All Trunk GroupsThe hour d uring the sp ec ified d ay with the hig hest total wid eb and c all usag e, when summed over all trunk group s. Peak hour and b usy hour are synonymous. With c onventional traffic theory data analysis, there are two method s for d etermining the p eak hour. One is the time-c onsistent p eak hour, meaning hourly usag e values are averag ed ac ross d ays for eac h hour of the d ay. The other is the b ounc ing p eak hour, meaning the hig hest usag e is selec ted for eac h d ay without regard to the averag e ac ross d ays. For the b ounc ing p eak hour, the hig hest load on a g iven d ay may or may not oc c ur d uring the time-c onsistent busy hour. These traffic rep orts and ac c omp anying trunk g roup d ata worksheet only use the b ounc ing p eak hour method . Note that if the total usag e for the c urrent hour eq uals the total usag e for the p revious p eak hour, the p eak hour is the hour with the g reatest numb er of total seizures. Grp No. Group Numb er. A numb er that id entifies eac h trunk g roup assoc iated with the d isp layed d ata. Group numb ers are d isp layed in numeric al ord er, b eg inning with the lowest ad ministered number and c ontinuing to the hig hest ad ministered number. Grp Size Group Size. The numb er of ad ministered trunks in the trunk group. Grp Dir Trunk Group Direc tion. Id entifies whether the trunk g roup is inc oming (inc ), outgoing (out ), or two-way (two ). Service Type Se rv i c e Typ e. The ad ministered Servic e Typ e for the trunk group. Valid entries are accunet, i800, inwats, lds, mega800, megacom, multiquest, operator, other, outwats-bnd, public-ntwrk, sdn, sub-operator, and wats-max-bnd. Meas Hour Measurement Hour. The hour (using 24-hour c loc k) in whic h the measurements are taken. For the last-hour rep ort, it is the last hour of measurement (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour is identic al; b ut not nec essarily the same as the ind ic ated p eak hour for the d ay). For the today-peak rep ort, the measurement hour is the p eak hour for eac h trunk g roup thus far tod ay (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour c ould b e d ifferent). For the yesterday-peak rep ort, the measurement hour is the peak hour for eac h trunk g roup yesterd ay (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour c ould b e d ifferent). Continued on next page

This measurement d oes not inc lud e unauthorized c alls d enied servic e on the trunk g roup (d ue to restric tions). The number of wid eb and c alls eq uals the numb er of ac tual c alls, reg ard less of the numb er of trunks involved in the c all. Out Serv Out of Servic e. The number of trunks in the trunk g roup out of servic e (listed as maintenanc e b usy) at the time the d ata is collected. Suggested Action: If the trunks are removed from servic e b y the switc h, then the ap p rop riate maintenanc e p ersonnel should be notified . The ob jec tive is to keep all memb ers of a trunk g roup “ in servic e.” Generally, you should not make ad justments to the trunk g roup b ec ause of “ Out of Servic e” trunks, but should g et those trunks returned to servic e.
