DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-199 Wideband Trunk Group Summary Report 3 % ATBPerc entag e All Trunks Busy. The p erc entage of time all trunks in the trunk g roup were simultaneously in use d uring the measurement interval. NOTE: In use means that the trunks are b usy — either serving c alls or b ec ause they are busied -out b y maintenanc e. Suggested Actions: 1. If the group d irec tion is outg oing or two-way, a hig h numb er in the % ATB field and nothing in the Grp Ovfl ind ic ates everything is func tioning normally. However, a more typ ic al sc enario is a hig h numb er in this field and a hig h numb er in the Grp Ovfl field . This indic ates a p ossib le p roblem that nec essitates further analysis. Unless this trunk g roup is the last p referenc e in the p attern, overflow is to the next c hoic e trunk g roup, and the numb er in the Grp Ovfl field is of no great sig nific anc e. Otherwise, the ob vious c hoic e is to ad d more trunks to the trunk g roup . 2. If the group d irec tion is inc oming , a hig h numb er in this field is b ad . It indic ates some inc oming c alls are p rob ab ly b loc ked . Generally, you want to ad d more trunks, thus lowering the % ATB and d ec reasing the numb er of c alls blocked. Table 3-54. It p ermits the user to ad minister whic h trunk g roup s are to b e rep orted for the hourly rep ort. (Measurements on ad ministered trunk g roups are c ollec ted to list them on the wid eb and summary and hourly rep orts.) A maximum of 10 trunks c an b e stud ied on the G3c si and G3si. On the G3r, the maximum is 30. If no selec tions are mad e, no trunk g roup s are stud ied hourly. Command To d isp lay the Wid eb and Trunk Group Measurement Selec tion sc reen: 1. Type display meas-selection wideband-trunk-group [print/schedule] and p ress RETURN. Options: The print and schedule op tions are availab le for the d isp lay c ommand only. Enter the wid eb and trunk g roup numb er to b e measured and p ress EN TER. Wid eband trunk g roup numb ers d o not have to be in numeric al ord er. If the wid eband trunk g roup numb er you want is not listed , add the wid eband trunk g roup numb er (if there is sp ac e availab le), or rep lac e an existing wid eb and trunk group numb er you no long er need . Press RETU RN until the c ursor is p lac ed on the unwanted wid eb and trunk g roup number and enter the new wid eb and trunk g roup numb er, or p ress C L EAR FI EL D and enter the new wid eb and trunk g roup numb er.

DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-206 Wideband Trunk Group Measurement Selection 3 Wideband Trunk Group Summary Report The Wid eband Trunk Group Summary Rep ort provid es d ata essential for monitoring trunk g roups sup p orting wid eb and servic e to assure they p rovid e the exp ec ted level of servic e. The rep ort is mod eled after the Trunk Group Summary Rep ort b ut only trunk g roup s ad ministered to p rovid e wid eb and servic e are rep orted . Other trunk g roup s d o not ap p ear on the rep ort. If a trunk g roup is ad ministered to p rovid e wid eb and servic e b ut had no wid eb and traffic d uring the measurement period , then zeros are shown on the rep ort. The yesterd ay-p eak and tod ay-p eak rep orts list the wid eb and c all ac tivity for the p eak wid eb and traffic hour. That is, the measurements shown are those that oc c urred d uring the hour in whic h the Total Usag e for wid eband servic e for that trunk group was hig hest. This is not nec essarily the same p eak hour as the p eak hour for total usag e as shown on the overall Trunk Group Summary Rep ort. Note that on the Wid eb and Trunk Group Summary Report, the measurements for d ifferent trunk g roup s are not nec essarily time-c oinc id ent with eac h other. !CAUTION: The yesterd ay-p eak and tod ay-p eak rep orts c annot b e used to d etermine narrowb and usag e exc ept in c ases where the p eak traffic hour for total usag e (shown on the overall rep ort) is the same as the p eak hour for wid eband usag e (shown on this rep ort) for a p artic ular trunk g roup in the same measurement p eriod . In this c ase alone, narrowband measurements for that trunk group may b e d etermined by sub trac ting the wid eb and measurements from the measurements shown on the overall rep ort for the same trunk group. !CAUTION: For trunk group s where the p eak hour is d ifferent on the overall summary rep ort from that shown on the wideb and summary rep ort, the narrowb and usag e must b e d etermined b y using the measurements on the Wid eb and Trunk Group Hourly Rep ort. In ad d ition, if there were c alls b loc ked at that time, the group should be studied using both the overall and wideband hourly reports to determine whether wideband calls were blocked.
DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-207 Wideband Trunk Group Measurement Selection 3 Wideband Trunk Group Hourly Report The Wid eband Trunk Group Hourly Rep ort shows the wid eb and c all ac tivity for eac h hour in the c urrent 24-hour p eriod . A separate rep ort is g enerated for eac h measured wideband trunk group. For trunk group s having mixed wid eb and and narrowb and traffic , it is b est to ad minister the trunk g roup to app ear on b oth the overall and wid eb and hourly trunk g roup rep orts. In this way a c omp lete p ic ture of usag e and b loc kag es is p ossib le. For these trunk g roup s, d irec t c omparisons c an b e mad e between measurements for the same hour on the overall and wideb and rep orts. For examp le, if the hour b eg inning at 1:00 p.m. is examined for the same trunk g roup on both the overall hourly rep ort and on the wid eb and hourly rep ort, the narrowb and usag e measurements may b e d etermined b y sub trac ting the wid eband d ata from the overall data. This c an be d one for eac h hour in the 24-hour p eriod . Note that some measurements, suc h as trunks-out-servic e and all-trunks-b usy, are id entic al for the same hour on b oth the wid eb and and the overall rep orts for the same trunk group. Performance Considerations Althoug h the DEFINITY ECS sup p orts wid eb and transmission for from 2 to 30 c hannels, the most c ommon transmissions are at the H c hannel rates: When c onsid ering how many trunks to p ut in a trunk g roup that sup p orts wid eband c all ac tivity, rememb er: nEvery wid eb and c all must b e c arried on a sing le DS1 interfac e. That is, when the b and wid th on one interfac e is insuffic ient for the c all, another interfac e must b e found that c an ac c ommod ate the entire c all. The b and wid th for the c all c annot b e sp read over 2 or more interfac es. The c hanc es for find ing enoug h b andwid th on a sing le interfac e are far less than find ing the b and wid th on several interfac es. nSo m e f a r e n d sw it c h e s ( f o r e x a m p le , t h e 4 ESS) re q u i re t h e b a n d w id t h f o r a c all b e c ontig uous. That is, not only must the c all be c arried over a sing le interfac e, b ut the c hannels over whic h the c all is c arried must b e c onsec utively numb ered . The c hanc es for find ing c ontig uous b and wid th are far less than for find ing the band wid th on a sing le interfac e alone.
