DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-149 Traffic Summary Report 3 Traffic Summary Report The Traffic Summary Rep ort p rovid es an overview of system p erformanc e. Summarized in the rep ort are p eak hour c all p roc essing and system manag ement oc c up anc y, p eak hour b loc king for TDM time slots on eac h p ort network, p eak hour b loc king for p ort network links and switc h node links, and the p eak hour for the TDM time slots, p ort network links and switc h nod e links c omb ined , p eak hour for the worst attend ant sp eed of servic e, and the p eak for tod ay and yesterd ay for trunk b locking for the worst five trunk g roups. Also inc lud ed are a series of traffic flag s and c ounters p rovided for the last hour of measurement d ata. They inc lud e a time stamp for a major alarm, trunk g roup , wideband trunk group, coverage path, coverage principals, and routing-pattern time stamp s for measurement selec tion mod ific ations. There are, as well, for last hour, totals for Trunks Out of Servic e, CDR hig h water mark and overflow, and total sec urity violations. NOTE: Data in this report is not up d ated on d emand . It is g enerated every hour on the hour and c an be used to id entify p rob lem areas in the system. More d etailed d ata c an b e retrieved from other measurements rep orts, as noted in the field descriptions. When a p otential p rob lem is id entified from this rep ort, other more d etailed rep orts in the susp ec t area are req uired to ad eq uately c harac terize the prob lem. Command To d isp lay the Traffic Summary Rep ort sc reen: 1. Type list measurements summary [print/schedule] and press RETU RN. Options: The print and schedule op tions are availab le for this c ommand .

DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-156 Trunk Group Summary Report 3 Table 3-45. Trunk Group Summary Report Field Description Peak Hour for All Trunk GroupsThe hour d uring the sp ec ified d ay with the larg est total usag e, when summed over all trunk g roup s. Peak hour and busy hour are synonymous. With c onventional traffic theory d ata analysis, there are two method s for d etermining the p eak hour. One is the time-c oinc ident p eak hour, meaning that hourly usag e values are averag ed ac ross d ays for eac h hour of the d ay. The other is the b ounc ing p eak hour, meaning that the hig hest usag e is selec ted for eac h d ay without reg ard to the averag e ac ross d ays. For the b ounc ing p eak hour the hig hest load on a g iven d ay may or may not oc c ur d uring the time-c oinc id ent busy hour. These traffic rep orts and ac c omp anying trunk g roup d ata worksheet only use the b ounc ing p eak hour method . Note that if the total usag e for the c urrent hour eq uals the total usag e for the p revious p eak hour, then the peak hour is the hour with the g reatest numb er of total seizures. Grp No. Group Numb er. A numb er that id entifies eac h trunk g roup assoc iated with the d isp layed d ata. Group numb ers are d isp layed in numeric al ord er, b eg inning with the lowest ad ministered number and c ontinuing to the hig hest ad ministered number. Grp Siz Group Size. The numb er of ad ministered trunks in the trunk group. Continued on next page

For the last-hour rep ort, it is the last hour of measurement (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour is identic al; b ut not nec essarily the same as the ind ic ated p eak hour for the d ay). For the today-peak rep ort, the measurement hour is the p eak hour for eac h trunk g roup thus far tod ay (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour c ould b e d ifferent). For the yesterday-peak rep ort, the measurement hour is the peak hour for eac h trunk g roup yesterd ay (eac h trunk g roup ’s measurement hour c an b e d ifferent). Table 3-45. DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 8.2 Reports Guide 555-233-505 Issue 1 April 2000 Traffic Data Analysis 3-158 Trunk Group Summary Report 3 Total Usage1Total usag e (in CCS) for all trunks in the trunk group . Rep resents the total time the trunks are b usy (with c alls) d uring the one-hour measurement p eriod . Total usag e measures eac h time a trunk is seized for use b y an inc oming c all (whether it is p ic ked up or not) or an out g oing c all (only after d ig its have b een d ialed ). Total SeizeThe numb er of inc oming and outg oing seizures c arried on the trunk g roup . This inc lud es the numb er of times a trunk in the g roup is seized , inc lud ing false starts, d on’t answer, and busy. Inc. Seize Incoming Seize. The numb er of inc oming seizures c arried on the trunk group. Grp Ovf Group Overflow. The numb er of c alls offered to a trunk g roup not c arried or q ueued (if a q ueue is p resent). Calls rejec ted for authorization reasons are not inc lud ed . Que Siz Trunk Group Queue Size. A number (0 to 100) that id entifies the numb er of slots assigned to the trunk g roup q ueue. This numb er represents how many c alls may b e held in q ueue b y the trunk g roup . If 0 is d isp layed , then no q ueue is ad ministered . Henc e, the other q ueue measurements are also 0. Generally, the q ueue size should b e larg er than the trunk g roup size; however, not more than three times as larg e as the trunk g roup size. Call Qued Calls Queued. The total number of c alls that entered the trunk g roup q ueue after find ing all trunks b usy. Que Ovf Queue Overflow. The total numb er of c alls not q ueued b ec ause the q ueue is full. These c alls rec eive a reord er sig nal. Suggested Actions: Generally, this field indic ates the number 0. If this field indic ates a hig h numb er, then either the q ueue size may b e too small, or ad d more trunks to red uc e the numb er of c alls queuing . Table 3-45.
