    Program Mode Entry (Ke y Statio n)

    Programming  is  always done at  this type of station regardless of the class 
    of s ervice or wh ich s ta tion ha s b ee n as signed  the  atte ndant(s) .
    To  enter the program  mode:
    1 . Pr es s t he O N/ OF F but ton  ( opt iona l). L ED l igh ts  a nd in te rc om di al  tone  
    is  he ard.
    2. On  the dial pad, press  [
    6][6][3][2][2] [6] (de fault pas sword ). A 
    conf irmation  ton e is  hea rd.
    3 . The  O N/ OF F bu tt on LE D i s  li t.  Th e s yst em  is  r ead y t o pr ogra m.
    Program Mode Entry (Data Terminal or PC)
    A  PC t er mi nal  conne cte d t o t he  RS- 23 2 C po rt  on  the  MPB, or  r em ote ly 
    through  the 2400 baud modem  (Tr iad 3) or op tional 2400 ba ud mod em 
    on Tr iad 1/ 2,  is  us ed  for  dat aba se  pr ogr ammi ng.  When  usi ng a  da ta 
    term ina l  (AS CII  or  PC cap able  of emula ting  an ASC II terminal) on- site or 
    loc a ll y, t o p rog ram  t he s yst em :
    1. Press  on the terminal.
    2 . Ent er  t he  pas swor d [de faul t =3 22 6 VOD AVI] , an d pr es s < Ent er >  aga in.  
    Proper entry  of the pa ssword res ults  in  the Adm> prompt. Proceed 
    with programming referring  to Fi g ur e 1- 1: Da t a Termi nal  Pr og ra m 
    Codes Cr oss Refer ence f o r te rmi nal  c ha rac t e rs th at re pr ese nt  t he key 
    set bu ttons.  By entering  [?]  from the terminal, a Help screen displays.
    Whe n e nte ri ng  the  sy st em  re mo t el y vi a  a P C,  ac c e ss  to   the  mo d em  is  
    accomplis hed  by a ccess ing  Port 499 throu gh a d irect ringing a ssignment 
    or through DISA or by being transferred to Port 499.

    Initialization
    The system  has  been pre-programmed with certain features  called 
    def aul t  dat a (r e fer  t o Table 1-1: Feature Def ault Values). T hes e  fea tur es  ar e 
    loa ded  in to  memor y w hen  the  s yst em  is  i nit ia li z ed.
    Use the  following procedures  to  return the system database  to  default 
    val ues :
    1 . Place  Swi t ch #8  on  th e MPB i n t he  O N pos it i on.
    2. Turn  the power off  and  on to initialize the system database to the 
    default.
    3. Once database is initialized, place Switch  #8 in the  OFF position to 
    protect the database.

    Database  Uplo ad/D ownload  Ro utine
    The Da ta bas e U ploa d/Download  Routine  (FLAS H 86)  provid es  a 
    maintenance facility which permits the user to download the database to 
    a PC , whe n a  sof twa re  chang e i s  made  or  whe n t he  sys te m ne ed s t o be  
    ini t ial i ze d a nd r ep rogr amm ed.  The  Up loa d/ Downl oad R out i ne  fac i li ta te s 
    the p rogramm ing  of a  datab ase on a n in-hous e  system which is 
    downloaded to a PC and then uploaded to a system  in  the field.
    Th e s ys tem  s ho uld be  ini tial ize d whe n ins tal le d or at an y time  the  
    database has been corrupted.

    After the system maintenance is completed, the file saved in the PC can 
    the n b e u ploa ded  t o t he s yst e m.
    Upload/Download  through Remote Administration
    First, connect one end of an  RS-232C serial cable from the RS-232C 
    connector on the MPB to the desired  Comm  Port on  the PC.

    7. When the Receive XMODEM screen displays, enter path and file name 
    for  database  file, then  press  to begin the  download  routine.
    The download  is complete when a  confirmation tone  is heard  from 
    the comm unications p acka ge  and the ADM>  prompt returns .
    8. Type M and press .

    10. To ex it Procomm  and  return  to the DOS  prom pt,  pres s .
    The  down load  fi le  cont ai ns a  se r ie s of  A SCI I  st r ings  wi th  a che cksum  at  
    the end of the  string.  The checksum is  verified when  the system  receives 
    the string. An error in the  checksum results  in  rejection of the  string.  An 
    er ror  m ess age  i s s ent  t o t he  PC whe n a  st r ing  is  r ece ive d w it h an  er r or.
    If the file  uploaded from the PC  contains:
