9900 - System Utilities, Part 2 9902 - Slot Assignment DS1000/2000 Software Manual Chapter 2: Programming563 Telephone Programming Instructions Using Program 9902: Slot Assignment Step 1: Review the Default Configuration 1.1 Check the default configuration to see if it meets the site requirements. If it does, you won’t have to make any of the changes in the following steps. Step 2: Map Out Your Installation 2.1 If you need to reconfigure your PCBs, use the table below to determine in which slots you want to install your PCBs. Be sure to assign the extension numbers. Note that the 16DSTU in slot 1 is a permanent assignment and cannot be changed. Step 3: Install the Common Equipment. 3.1 Following the instructions in your system’s Hardware Manual, install your common equipment, system power supplies and CPU PCB. You should also plug a 16DSTU PCB into slot 1. (This is a permanent system assignment.) Step 4: Turn on your system. 4.1 Once your system starts up, connect a display telephone assigned to the 16DSTU PCB in slot 1. Step 5: Clear Out Existing Slot Control Programming If the default setup does not meet the site requirements, you may have to delete some existing slot programming: 5.1 Enter ICM + #*#* + 372000 to enter the programming mode. 5.2 Dial 9902 + HOLD to enter program 9902: Slot Control. 5.3 Press HOLD again. You see the programmed slot information for slot 2, or EMPTY SLOT if there is no assignment. 5.4 Press VOL or VOL to check the current assignments for slots 2-8. (Note that slot 1 is permanently assigned as a 16DSTU PCB. You cannot change this assignment.) 5.5 Access the slot you want to change and press HOLD. You see REMOVE CARD (Y/N)? 5.6 Press N to return to step 5.4 without deleting, or press Y to remove the assignment. You see: SLOT DATA WILL BE LOST! ABORT (Y/N)? 5.7 Press N. Step 6: Programming (Adding) an Empty Slot During programming, you may see the following error messages: 6.1 Enter the programming mode and dial 9902 + HOLD to enter program 9902: Slot Con- trol. 6.2 Press HOLD then VOL or VOL until you select the empty slot you want to program (2-8). 6.3 Press HOLD. You see ADD CARD (Y/N). 6.4 Press N + HOLD to return to step 6.2 without adding a PCB, or press Y to enter a new PCB assignment. 6.5 Press ICM, then VOL or VOL to scroll through the available circuit types for the slot selected. OR Enter one of the circuit types from the table below. 6.6 When the circuit type you want displays, press HOLD. You see: FIRST EXTENSION. 6.7 Enter the first extension number for the PCB. Refer to the chart in Step 2: Map Out Your Installation above. (For example, if you have a second DSTU in slot 2, and you want the extension numbers to flow consecutively from slot 1, enter 316.) If you make an entry mis- take, use LND to backspace over (erase) the incorrect entry and then enter the correct digits. 6.8 Press HOLD. You see SLOT CONFIG CHANGED! 6.10 Press HOLD twice + VOL or VOL to select another slot to program (2-8), or press CONF to exit program 9902.9902 Error Message Description ERR! NO SLOT CHANGE Occurs if you are trying to assign an extension range that already exists. Also occurs if your assignment will exceed the system maximums (e.g., assigning a 7th 16DSTU). SLOT 1 IS FIXED! You are trying to change the assignment for slot 1, which is fixed for a 16DSTU PCB. SLOT IN USE! You have attempted to delete the slot that supports the extension from which you are programming. Enter this: For this PCB circuit type 0 Empty Slot 1 8 DSTU 2 16 DSTU 3 4 ASTU 4 8 ASTU 5 4 ASTU with Message Waiting (currently not available) 6 8 ASTU with Message Waiting (currently not available) 7 4 ATRU (loop start) 8 8 ATRU (loop start) 9 Empty Slot
9900 - System Utilities, Part 2 9902 - Slot Assignment DS1000/2000 Software Manual Chapter 2: Programming565 Step 7: Verify Your Slot Entries Use the following steps to check your 9902: Slot Control programmed entries. 7.1 Enter the programming mode and dial 9902 + HOLD to enter program 9902: Slot Con- trol. 7.2 Press HOLD then VOL Up or VOL Down until you select the slot you want to check (1- 8). 7.4 Once you’ve selected the slot you want to check, press V. The display shows the number of circuits currently displayed and the extension numbers assigned to the circuits. For exam- ple, if you plugged your first 8ATRU into slot 8, you would see: SLOT:8 CIRCUIT:1-5 401 402 403 404 405 7.5 Press V to check any additional circuits on the PCB, press CONF + HOLD to return to step 7.2, or press CONF twice to exit program 9902. Step 8: Plug in Your PCBs. Plug in your PCBs according to the installation map (step 2) and your slot programming (step 6).

The table below shows the default system passwords. Turn to System Programming List on page 360 for more on the system pass- words. Conditions None Telephone Programming Instructions 1. Enter the programming mode. 2. 9905 + HOLD 3. Enter the level (1-3) for the password you want to change + HOLD. 4. Enter the new password for the level selected (up to 8 digits) + HOLD. 5. Reenter the password you entered in step 4 above + HOLD. 6. Press CONF to return to step 3 and select another password to program. OR Press CONF twice to exit the program. Refer to your Hardware Manual for the specifics. Conditions The following table lists the PC Card Backup Error Messages that you may see when using the instructions below. Telephone Programming Instructions 1. Insert the PC Card into the CPU. Refer to the Hardware Manual for additional information. 2. Be sure the CPU mode switch is set to RUN. 3. Enter the programming mode. 4. 9906 + HOLD 5. Enter Y + HOLD. To quit program 9906 instead, enter N + HOLD. 6. Enter a name for the database you want to save (up to 10 characters long). Refer to Programming Names and Text Messages on page 439 if you need help when entering names. Skip this step if you want to save data in an address that already has a name assigned. 7. When you are done entering the name, press HOLD. DS2000 Fixed Slot Available. DS2000 U Slot DS1000 Not applicable. This error message: Means this: No PCCARD The PC Card is not installed. Install the PC Card and try again. ERASE FAILED The system could not overwrite an existing data base on the PC Card. Repeat the procedure. If you get the message again, try another PC Card. SAVE FAILED The system could not save data to the PC Card. Repeat the procedure. Of you get the error message again, try another PC Card. 9906:DATABASE SAVE START? 9906:DATABASE NAME 9906:DATABASE NAME (name) 9906:DB 00 (time)

If you data bases are stored, you see: 8. The system assigns the name you entered in step 7 to the address you select below: - Press VOL or VOL to scroll through the 12 data base addresses (DB 00 through DB 11) OR - Skip this step to select the currently displayed data base. 9. Press HOLD. Normally, you see: The PC Card Active LED is on during backup. If the address you choose already has data stored in it. you see: - Press N + HOLD to back up to step 5. OR - Press Y + HOLD to proceed. You automatically exit programming when the upload completes. (name) (date) 9906:DB 00 (empty) 9906:SAVING . . . . . . . . . . . 9906:DATABASE SAVE REPLACE DB nn Y/N

Enter the programming mode. 4. 9907 + HOLD 5. Enter Y + HOLD. You see the name and date of the first data base stored. If no data bases are stored, you see: 6. Press VOL or VOL to scroll through the 12 data base addresses (DB 00 through DB 11) and select the one you want to restore. 7. When the data base you want to restore displays, press HOLD. The PC Card Active LED is on during restore. You automatically exit programming when the upload completes. DS2000 Fixed Slot Available. DS2000 U Slot DS1000 Not applicable. This error message: Means this: No PCCARD The PC Card is not installed. Install the PC Card and try again. NO DATABASE There is no data stored in the data base address you selected. Conditions None Telephone Programming Instructions 1. Following the instructions in your Hardware Manual, insert Data Base PC Card (P/N 85880) into the CPU. 2. Be sure the CPU mode switch is set to RUN. 3. Enter the programming mode. 4. 9908 + HOLD 5. To erase all data on the PC Card, enter Y + HOLD and go to the next step. You see: OR To exit the program without erasing the PC Card, enter N + CONF. 6. To erase all data on the PC Card, enter N + HOLD. You see: After about 30 seconds, you see: OR To exit the program without erasing the PC Card, enter Y + HOLD. In software versions prior to 02.00.04, press CONF instead of HOLD. 7. Conditions None Telephone Programming Instructions 1. Enter the programming mode. 2. 9999 + HOLD 3. Enter Y + HOLD to initialize the system. OR Enter N + HOLD to exit the program without initializing. If you enter Y, the system will initialize with the factory-installed default and return to the idle state. DS2000 Fixed Slot Available.
