Microphone Mute DS1000/2000 Software ManualChapter 1: Features253 Microphone Mute Description Microphone Mute lets a keyset user turn off their phone’s Handsfree microphone at any time. Once activated, Microphone Mute prevents the caller from hearing Handsfree conversations in the user’s work area. The user can turn off the Handsfree or handset microphone while their tele- phone is idle, busy on a call, in DND or while a call is ringing. The microphone stays off until the user turns it back on. While an extension has their microphone muted, the calling party hears a single beep when the called extension’s mic is muted. Conditions A system reset or power failure cancels all Microphone Mutes system wide. Default Setting Enabled. Programming List None Other Related Features Handsfree and Handsfree Answerback (page 190) Use Microphone Mute to temporarily turn off the Handsfree microphone. Modem Cut-Through DS1000/2000 Software ManualChapter 1: Features255 Modem Cut-Through Description The unique DS1000 Modem Cut-Through feature allows a modem connected to the system’s ana- log modem port to achieve maximum throughput speeds on outside calls. In addition, a single line set plugged into the modem is a fully functinoal internal analog extension. this same single ine set is also the system’s power-failure telephone. It directly connexcts to an outside line if there is a commercial power failure. With Modem Cut-Though, the system can automatically switch an outgoing call from the modem plugged into the PFT/MDM jack directly to trunk 1 or trunk 2. This effectively bypasses the sys- tem, allowing modem calls to achieve maximum modem connect speeds. Modem Cut-Through can also bypass the system on an incoming call to the extension plugged into the PFT/MDM jack (extension 316). To have your modem directly answer incoming calls on trunk 1 or 2, make the trunk a DIL to the PFT/MDM extension. Turn to Direct Inward Line on page 118 for more. Modem Setup When using Modem Cut-Through, the modem’s dial string for outgoing calls must contain the codes to access trunk 1 or trunk 2. There are several methods you can use: Line Dial-up (#9 followed by the trunk number 01-06) Turn to Central Office Calls, Placing on page 93 for the programming required to enable Line Dial-up. Direct Trunk Access (4 plus the trunk number 01-06) Turn to Direct Trunk Access on page 139 for the programming required to enable Direct Trunk Access. Trunk Group Routing (9 or 90-98) Turn to Trunk Group Routing on page 398 for the programming required to enable Trunk Group Routing. Conditions If you have a modem or power failure telephone connected to the PFT/MDM port, do not con- nect a Voice Mail port to extension 316. This is because extension 316 is in parallel with the PFT/MDM port. If you are going to use Modem Cut-Through, be sure your telco provides loop supervision for trunks 1 and 2. Default Setting Modem Cut-Through is always available, if connected.DS2000 Fixed Slot Not available. DS2000 U Slot DS1000 Available. Maximize modem throughput speeds and obtain power failure cu-through on the same port.
Modem Cut-Through 256Chapter 1: FeaturesDS1000/2000 Software Manual Programming List Program 0401 - Intercom Inter-digit (page 456) The system uses this interval for an extension going into the talk state, which affects the Modem Cut-Though timing. Setting this timer too short or too long could effect DTMF receiver usage and create blocking. Normally, you should leave this timer at its default value (6 seconds). Some applications may require that it be shortened, but it is recommended that it not be lengthened. Program 0402 - PBX/Centrex Flash (page 460) When a call is recieved or placed on trunk 1 or trunk 2, the system waits this interval plus 100 mS) to determine if a system extension or the PFT/MDM port is connected to the call. If the PFT/MDM port is on the call, the system connects the port directly to the trunk. Other Related Features Voice Mail (page 414) If you have a modem or power failure telephone connected to the PFT/MDM port, do not con- nect a Voice Mail port to extension 316. This is because extension 316 is in parallel with the PFT/MDM port. Feature Operation Operation is automatic if: Your modem is properly installed and connected to the PFT/MDM jack. The system programming provides a dialing method to access trunks 1 and/or 2. The codes to access trunks 1 or 2 are in the modem’s dial string.
Monitor / Silent Monitor DS1000/2000 Software ManualChapter 1: Features257 Monitor / Silent Monitor Description Monitor lets an extension user listen to the conversation at a busy extension. To implement Monitor, an extension user just calls a busy extension and dials the Monitor code. The busy extension and their caller have no indication of the intusion. There are no tones heard and there is no visual indi- cation that monitoring is occuring. For example, Monitor could help the superisor of a service department. The department supervisor could listen to the questions that callers ask without dis- turbing the service call. Conditions Monitor uses a system Conference circuit. See Conference on page 111 for more. Default Setting Disabled Programming Guide DS2000 Fixed Slot Available. Music on Hold 260Chapter 1: FeaturesDS1000/2000 Software Manual Music on Hold Description Music on Hold (MOH) plays music to calls on Hold, parked calls, and transferred calls. The music lets the caller know that their calls is waiting, not forgotten. Without Music on Hold, the system provides silence to these types of calls. Music on Hold is available from three sources: two internal beep tones and an external source connected to the CPU music input terminals. The external source typically connects to a customer-provided music source (such as a CD player or FM receiver). Music on Hold requires a customer-provided music source. This source is also used by Back- ground Music. In DS2000, you connect the music source to the CPU’s 8-pin mod jack. In DS1000, you connect the music source to the Main Equipment Cabinet AUDIO jack. The music source you use must be compatible with the following specifications: For more on connecting a customer-provided music source, refer to the system’s Hardware Manual. With Music on Hold enabled, transferred callers can optionally listen to ringback or MOH while their call waits at the transfer destination. Note: In accordance with U.S. copyright law, a license may be required from the America Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) or other similar organizations, if radio, television broadcasts or music other than material not in the public domain are transmitted through the Music on Hold feature of telecommunications systems. NEC America, Inc. hereby disclaims any liability arising out of the failure to obtain such a license. Conditions None Default Setting External MOH enabled.DS2000 Fixed Slot Available.
