    							1000 - Trunk Programming
    1002 - Trunk Groups
    506Chapter 2: ProgrammingDS1000/2000 Software Manual
    1002 - Trunk Groups
    Description
Use Program 1002 - Trunk Groups to assign trunks (1-48 in DS2000, 1-6 in DS1000) to trunk
groups (0-8). This program also lets you assign the priority of trunks within each group. When a
user seizes a trunk group, the system selects the lowest order trunk in the group first. If the lowest
order trunk is busy or out of service, the system searches sequentially by order number (e.g., from
order 01 to order 02) for the first available trunk.
When entering data, software version 02.01.07 and higher provide the following additional entry
options. These options make it easier to enter data and help prevent inadvertent entry errors.
    Pressing
    HOLD validates and registers entries.
When you are done entering data for a Trunk Group, you must press HOLD. When you press HOLD:
The system compares the Trunk Group you just programmed against all other Trunk Groups.
If a trunk exists in more than one group, the system retains it in the last Trunk Group you pro-
grammed and deletes it from all other groups. For example, if group 1 has trunks
    1 2 3 4, and
you program group 2 with trunks
4 5 6, the system will automatically change group 1 to
    trunks
    1 2 3.
The system checks the Trunk Group you just programmed for duplicate entries. If you have
entered a trunk more than once into the group, the system retains the first entry you made. It dis-
cards all other duplicate entries. For example, if you enter trunks
    1 2 3 1 4, the system stores 1
    2 3 4
. You’ll see “DUPLICATE TRK ERASED” if the system deletes any duplicate entries.
    Pressing CONF cancels program entry.
While programming a Trunk Group, press CONF to exit the group and return to the TRUNK
GROUP prompt. Any changes you made to the group before pressing
    CONF are not saved.
    Pressing
    CHECK restores previous entries.
While programming a Trunk Group, press CHECK to restore the group to its previously saved
data and return to the ORDR n: TRK NUM prompt. You might want to do this if you lose
track of what you are programming in a group and want to start over.
    Pressing
    CLEAR deletes entries.
While programming a Trunk Group, press CLEAR to erase the entries from the current posi-
tion to the end of the group. For example, in the default program if you press
    CLEAR at the
ORDER 2:TRK NUM?5 prompt, you’ll only retain the ORDER 1:TRK NUM?6 entry. All
other entries for the group are erased. DS2000 Fixed SlotAvailable.

    1002 - Trunk Groups
    DS1000/2000 Software Manual Chapter 2: Programming507
In DS2000, trunks must be on installed PCBs.
You can only enter a trunk into a Trunk Group it the PCB for that trunk has been properly
installed in 9902 - Slot Assignment.
In addition, if you program a trunk into a group and later on use 9902 - Slot Assignment to
remove that trunk’s PCB, the system automatically removes the trunk from the group.
