    .
    Setting the Data Module Operating Mode
    1. Connec t an RS-232 c ab le from the DSA/DNA c omp uter to the d ata 
    mod ule. If you are using  an 8400B+ , c onnec t the DSA/DNA c omp uter to 
    the data module using the supplied adapter cable.
    2. Using  a terminal emulator, c onnec t to the serial p ort to whic h the d ata 
    mod ule is c onnec ted , and  set the emulation to 
    vt100 mod e.
    3. Type AT
     at the p romp t and  p ress 
    En t e r.The d ata mod ule should  return an 
    OK. If it d oes not, b e sure that a stand ard RS-232 or EIA-232 c ab le is 
    connec ted (not a null modem c able).
    4. Set the operating mode as described in the following table.
    5. Disc onnec t the terminal from the d ata mod ule and  rec onnec t the d ata 
    mod ule to the system c ab ling . Ty p e  o f

    8400B+ The red  LED should b e stead y on. If the red  and  g reen LEDs 
    are b linking , the unit is not c ommunic ating  with the DEFINITY 
    ECS. Chec k the wiring  at the MDF, wall jac k, and  the 8400B+ . 
    7400B+ The Power and  TR LEDs should  b e stead y on. If the Power 
    and  Data LEDs are b linking , the unit is not c ommunic ating  with 
    the DEFINITY ECS. Chec k the wiring  at the MDF, wall jac k, 
    and  the 7400B+ . 
    7400A Set the 7400A to DCE mod e. The Power LED must b e stead y 
    on. The DTR, DSR, DCD, RTS, and  CTS setting s must b e 
    hig hlig hted in the d isp lay. If the Power LED is b linking , the 
    d ata mod ule is not c ommunic ating  with the DEFINITY ECS. 
    Chec k the wiring  at the MDF, wall jac k, and  7400A.

    Setting the 7400B+ Options
    1. Set the DIP switc hes for the 7400B+  using  Tab le 3-3. The DIP switc hes are 
    loc ated  insid e the unit. To ac c ess them
    a. Remove the p ower c ord  from the unit.
    b . Remove the c over from the top  rear of the unit.
    c . Set the d ip  switc hes.
    d . Rep lac e the c over.
    e. Connect the power c ord.The unit performs a self test.
    2. If any switc hes were set in step  1, c yc le the p ower to the d ata mod ule so 
    that the firmware c an read  the new switc h setting s.

    !CAUTION:
    It may b e nec essary to reseat c irc uit p ac ks. To p revent d amag e from static  
    elec tric ity, always wear an Elec tromag netic  Comp atib ility (EMC) wrist strap  
    (c omc od e 900698226) when hand ling  all system c omp onents.
    Install Translation Flash Memory Card
    1. Verify the write switc h on the Translation Flash-Memory Card  (Translation 
    Card ) is positioned  d own so the c ard  c an b e written to. See Figure 3-14
    .
    2. Insert the Translation Card  into the TN794 Network Control/Pac ket 
    Interfac e (Net/Pkt) c irc uit p ac k in the d irec tion ind ic ated  b y the arrow on 
    the lab el.
    Power Up AC-Powered System
    1. Set the assoc iated  c irc uit b reakers on the AC p ower panel ON
    .
    NOTE:
    If the system is high or c ritic al reliab ility, p ower-up  the Exp ansion 
    Port Network (EPN) first, then the Proc essor Port Network (PPN). 
    Always p ower up  the c ontrol c ab inet last.
    2. At the rear of eac h c ab inet, set the c irc uit b reaker to ON
    . This starts the 
    system initialization and test. Some red lights may be on but will be turned 
    off b y other p roc ed ures in this c hap ter.

    Screens
    The system is ad ministered  using  sc reens d isp layed  on the terminal. The 
    sc reens are used  to ad d , c hang e, d isp lay, list d ata, and  to remove system and  
    telep hone features. To ac c ess a sc reen, enter a valid system c ommand in 
    resp onse to the command: 
    prompt.
    Commands
    System c ommand s are stand ard word s and phrases instruc ting the system to 
    p erform a spec ific  func tion. The c ommand s are arranged  in a hierarc hy of 
    keyword s; that is, enter one c ommand  to g o to a different level. The c ommand s 
    c ontain three parts: ACTION, OBJECT, and  QUALIFIER.
    nACTION is the first p art of the c ommand . When command:
     ap p ears on the 
    sc reen. The ACTION sp ec ifies the op eration d esired . Examp les inc lude 
    add,
     duplicate,
     change,
     remove,
     display,
     list,
     and save.
    nOBJECT is the sec ond  p art of the c ommand  and  sp ec ifies the p artic ular 
    ob jec t to b e ad ministered . Typ ic al entries are hunt-group,
     coverage 
    path,
     and station.
    nQUALIFIER is the last p art of the c ommand . It is one or more word s or 
    d ig its used  to further id entify or c omp lete the OBJECT. For examp le, 
    hunt 
    g roup 15
     or station 3600, where 15 and  3600 are q ualifiers.
    An examp le of the c ommand  line req uired  to ad d  a station with extension numb er 
    1234 is add station 1234
    . In this examp le, add
     is the ACTION, station
     is the 
    OBJECT, and  1234
     is the QUALIFIER. In the c ommand  line, spac es are req uired  
    b etween the ACTION, OBJECT, and  QUALIFIER.
    To save time, enter enoug h letters for eac h p art of the c ommand to make it 
    uniq ue. For examp le, if you want to enter the c ommand  change 
    system-parameters country-options

    NOTE:
    The c raft log in may not b e allowed  to p erform some of the steps need ed

    Contac t the reg ional CSA (Customer Software Assoc iate) to req uest an “ init”  
    login. The CSA assig ns the Offer Categ ory op tion. This op tion must b e set b efore 
    c ontinuing  with this installation. Limited  c ommand  op tions are availab le until this 
    op tion is set. 
    Log into the System
    1. Verify the sc reen d isp lays Login:

     EN TER.  For sec urity reasons, the p assword is not 
    displayed as it is typed. The system verifies a valid login and password 
    name were entered . If an invalid  log in or p assword  name was entered , the 
    sc reen d isp lays login incorrect:
    In this c ase, repeat the p roc ed ure using  the c orrec t log in and  matc hing  
    password.
    If the system rec og nizes the log in and  p assword  name, the sc reen 
    d isp lays the software version.
    5. Verify the sc reen d isp lay is similar to:
