The following tests must be performed: 1. Make test calls 2. Test 302C Attend ant Console 3. Test Selector Console 4. Test External Ring ing 5. Test Queue Warning Indicator 6. Test Integ rated Announc ement 7. Test Music-on-Hold 8. Test Emerg ency Transfer 9. Test Remote Ac c ess Interfac e (INADS) 10. Test Basic Rate Interfac e (BRI) NOTE: The tests in this c hap ter are p erformed after the eq uip ment has b een wired to the system and after the c ustomer’s data for that eq uip ment has been ad ministered . The following tests are ac c ep tanc e tests or sanity tests and p rovid e some assuranc e the system will p erform p rop erly after installation and ad ministration. Make the first c all b y d ialing a telephone and make the sec ond c all b y dialing a trunk ac c ess c od e and a Listed Direc tory Numb er (LDN). Test 302C Attendant Console Chec k all lamp s are op erational and c all another telep hone in the system. 1. Simultaneously p ress and hold the Ringer Volume up button and the POS BUSY button . This p uts the c onsole in the self-test mod e. NOTE: Releasing the buttons c auses the c onsole to return to normal mod e. 2. Verify all lamp s on d isp lay lig ht and remain lighted . Eac h row of lamp s on the c onsole lights and g oes d ark in seq uenc e from top to b ottom. 3. Press Start . Listen for d ial tone. The g reen lamp assoc iated with idle c all ap p earanc e b utton lig hts. Th e Position Available lamp g oes d ark. 4. Dial numb er assoc iated with a working telep hone. Aud ib le ring ing tone is heard in ear p iec e. 5. Press Release . Aud ib le ring ing tone is silenc ed. The g reen lamp assoc iated with idle c all ap p earanc e b utton g oes dark. Th e Position Available lamp lig hts. Test Selector Console Chec k all selec tor c onsole lamp s are op erational. Make c all to a telep hone in the system. 1. If ring ing d evic e has not b een installed b y c ustomer, c onnec t sp are telep hone to information outlet reserved for ring ing d evice and make test call. Test Queue Warning Indicator Make a test c all to an extension assoc iated with a Uniform Call Distrib ution (UCD) or Direc t Dep artment Calling (DDC) g roup , and verify the q ueue warning indic ator lamp lig hts. If the q ueue warning ind ic ator has not b een installed b y c ustomer, c onnec t a spare telep hone to the information outlet reserved for q ueue warning ind ic ator and make a test c all. Test Integrated Announcement The TN750C Announc ement c irc uit p ac k stores messag es. The messages c an b e rec orded from telep hones on- or off-p remises and have flexib le messag e leng ths. The telephone selec ted as the test telep hone must have a c lass of servic e (COS) with c onsole p ermission enab led . Record Announcement 1. Selec t test telep hone with c onsole p ermission enab led . 2. Dial ac c ess c od e followed b y the integ rated announc ement extension numb er. Dial tone is heard . 3.Dial “ 1.” A short b urst of tone is heard and rec ord ing b egins. Sp eak the announc ement into the telep hone. 4. Dial “ #” or hang up . Rec ord ing stop s and d ial tone is heard . Playback Announcement 1. Dial ac c ess c od e followed b y the integ rated announc ement extension numb er. Dial tone is heard . 2. Dial “ 2.” The announc ement is heard and d ial tone is heard at c ompletion of announc ement. Delete Announcement 1. Dial ac c ess c od e followed b y the integ rated announc ement extension numb er. Dial tone is heard . 2. Dial “ 3.” A c onfirmation tone is heard and announc ement is d eleted .

Test Emergency Transfer Put system in emerg enc y transfer mod e and make c all using emerg enc y transfer telep hone. There may be up to 7 Emerg enc y Transfer units, dep end ing on the system c onfig uration. The switc h is loc ated on the Proc essor c irc uit p ac k(s) in t h e Pro c e ss o r Po r t N e t w o r k (PPN ) c o n t ro l c a r ri e r . Test Remote Access Interface Test the c ommunic ation link b etween the system and the remote interfac e (formerly INADS) and verify the alarm notific ation p roc ess. Make a remote test from the remote interfac e to the DEFINITY System and a loc al test from the DEFINITY System to the remote interfac e. In some c ountries, this remote ac c ess interfac e is not allowed . Contac t your Luc ent Tec hnolog ies rep resentative. Remote Test 1. Call outsid e p ersonnel who will b e ac c essing the system remotely to p erform ad ministration, maintenanc e, and testing . 2. Ask remote p ersonnel to c all system and log in and d isp lay System Parameters Maintenanc e sc reen. The log in must b e suc c essful. NOTE: Produc t Id entific ation on the System Parameters sc reen must matc h the Prod uc t Id entific ation ad ministered b y the loc al tec hnic ian. 3. Remote p ersonnel enters test inads-link c ommand , terminates login, and d isc onnec ts. 4. Remote p ersonnel then c hec k the ap p rop riate troub le tic ket. The troub le tic ket should show INADS,n,MINOR in the desc rip tion field to ind ic ate a minor off-b oard alarm was rep orted to the remote p ersonnel. There may b e more text in the d esc rip tion field if other resolved alarms were rep orted . 5. Remote p ersonnel makes sec ond c all and log in to system and c hec ks the error log to verify no p rob lems. See DEFINITY Enterprise Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8si, for error log and error c od e information. 6. Remote ac c ess p ersonnel terminate log in and d isc onnec ts.

Log in and enter test inads-link c ommand . 2. Req uest remote ac c ess p ersonnel to verify a troub le tic ket was c reated . 3. Chec k error log to verify no prob lems. 4. Log off the system. Test Basic Rate Interface Chec k for normal voic e telephone func tion (d ial tone, ab ility to make and rec eive c alls). Chec k for the c orrec t Servic e Profile Id entifier (SPID) on a d isp lay telep hone and the manag ement terminal. Test C-LAN Board Perform the following tests of the C-LAN b oard (Refer to DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Maintenanc e for R8si for test p roc ed ure details): nControl Channel Loop-Around Test – This non-d estruc tive test fails if the c irc uit p ac k does not return to a sane state after b eing reset. This test q ueries the c irc uit p ac k for its c od e and vintag e, and verifies its rec ord s. nPacket Interface Test – This non-d estruc tive test c hec ks the pac ket b us interfac e c irc uitry on the CLAN c irc uit p ac k. Test failure ind ic ates faulty circuit pack. nCongestion Query Test – This non-d estruc tive test q ueries the numb er of used b uffers to determine if the CLAN c irc uit pac k is c ong ested . Normal c all hand ling resumes when the CLAN c irc uit pac k has rec overed from c ong estion. nLink Status Test – This non-d estruc tive test d etermines the state of the c all c ontrol sig naling link for Control LANs. If the sig naling link is p hysic ally c onnec ted , the test send s a test frame over the link and c hec ks for a resp onse. The test passes only if b oth the sig naling link is c onnec ted and the test frame is suc c essfully transmitted.
