    Option Switch Settings
    Some of the interfac e units used  b etween the system and other typ es of 
    eq uip ment require spec ific  op tion switc h settings for eac h ap p lic ation. This 
    sec tion lists the setting s req uired for d ata mod ules, mod ems, printers, and  so 
    forth. Refer to the user’s g uid e for eac h typ e of eq uip ment for information on how 
    to loc ate and  set the option switc hes. 
    Data Module Option Switch Settings
    DCS Switch Settings
    The Distributed  Communic ations System (DCS) for a system is sometimes 
    c onnec ted  to the system throug h the TN790B Proc essor Interfac e c irc uit p ac k or 
    a TN794 Network Control/Pac ket Interfac e (Net/Pkt) c irc uit p ac k. The first c irc uit 
    c an b e c onnec ted direc tly to the DCS throug h the p roc essor interfac e (PI) 
    c onnec tor on the rear of the c ontrol c arrier.
    Any of the remaining three c irc uits on the proc essor interfac e used  to sup p ort the 
    Distrib uted  Communic ations System (DCS) must b e c onnec ted  throug h a d ata 
    mod ule serving  as the interfac e link. The op tion setting s for a 7400A Data Mod ule 
    are shown in Ta b l e  A - 1
    . Refer to Fi g u re  A - 1 for the loc ation of the switc hes.
    NOTE:
    The options for the 7400A and  7400C Data Mod ules are set from the front 
    p anel interfac e. For the 7400A, refer to

    The op tion setting s shown in Ta b l e  A - 2 are for the Answer Only interfac e and  are 
    set from the front panel interfac e. Set only the d esired  sp eed  of the 7400D. All 
    other d efault settings c an b e used .
    Refer to “ Set 7400 D”  Op tions on p ag e B-4 to set the sp eed . 
    NOTE:
    It is rec ommended  that CI and  CH b e set to ON, and  DCD and  DSR b e set 
    to normal. This allows log in information to b e d isp layed  on the sc reen 
    without having  to send  a c arriage return c harac ter.

    The following step s are an examp le of how to c hang e the d efault setting  of 9600 
    to the c ustom setting  of 19200.
    NOTE:
    If the link is b etween a Release 8r and  a CMS, set the 7400D to 19200. If 
    the link is b etween any other system and  a CMS, leave the sp eed  of the 
    7400D set at 9600.

    Add Pooled Modem
    Mod em Pooling  sup p orts 2 types of c onversion resourc es: integrated  and  
    combined. 
    The integrated type requires a TN758 Pooled Modem circuit pack for each 2 
    c onversion resourc es p rovid ed.
    The c omb ined  typ e requires a p ort on a TN754B Dig ital Line c irc uit p ac k and  a 
    p ort on either an 8-p ort TN742, TN769; a 16-p ort TN746B; or a 24-port TN793/B, 
    TN2793/B Analog  Line c irc uit p ac k for eac h c onversion resourc e p rovid ed.
    The p ooled  mod em req uires a Luc ent WP90110 L7
     power supply. Although an 
    integ rated  c onversion resourc e c an use either the L5 or L7, the c ombined only 
    works with an L7.
    !CAUTION:
    The L5 and  L7 p ower supp lies look id entic al. Chec k the list numb er on the 
    power supply before installing.
    1. Determine the p ort assig nment of the c irc uit p ac ks to b e ad d ed  (if 
    req uired ).

    Printer Option Settings
    Printers c an b e used  with a manag ement terminal as journal p rinters for the 
    hosp itality feature and  also as an outp ut devic e for Call Detail Rec ord ing  (CDR). 
    A 572 printer c an func tion as a CDR d evic e, system p rinter, or journal p rinter. 
    The op tions are set with func tion keys rather than DIP switc hes. Fig ure A -2
     shows 
    the arrang ement of the func tion keys on the p rinter c ontrol p anel.
