9-4 Expansion Key Service Unit (EKSU) The BKSU al so h as the se st and ard fe at ure s: †1 Program Module Unit (PMU) that provides system software †1 DTMF Receiver (for DISA applications) †2 Pr ogr amma ble r el ays wit h d r y cont act s r at ed at 2 4V DC, 1 amp †1ExternalPagePort †Battery Backu p for System Database †1 Music In put (MOH/BGM) The BKSU main b oard can accep t the following modules : †1 M is ce l lan eous Se r vi ce Uni t (M I SU) t hat p rovi de s t wo 9 -p in RS2 32 C ports and second music source circuitry †1 Mod em U nit (MODU, 9600 ba ud modem) f or rem ote administration †1 4- c ir c uit D TM F Re c ei ve r ( DTM F -A ) pr ovi des 4 DT M F r ec e ive rs (S LT ) †1 3x8 CKIB or 3x8 CSIB (one CKIB installed in every BKSU standard) A numbe r 12 AWG coppe r wire should b e used to ground b etwee n the gro und s ource and the BKS U (25 fe et ma ximum ). Atta ch this wire to the ground lug on the lower right side of the BKSU. Expansion Key Service Unit (EKSU) TheTr iad-SExpansion Key Service Unit (EKSU) is a wall-mountable cabinet that hou ses the circuitry to sup port two 3x8 b oard s. The EKS U mounts d irectly abov e the BKSU . The EKSU has cables that connect power and digital communications form the EKSU to the BKSU. The E KSU ca n provide six ad ditional CO lines and s ix teen station growth tha t ta kes t he syst e m t o i t’s maximum configuration of twelve CO lines and 32 s ta ti o ns. The E KSU contains one expa nsion interface board (EIB) which includ es powe r suppl y and conn ect or int er fa ce b uses . A n umbe r 1 2 AWG cop per wire should be used to groun d between the groun d source a nd the BKS U (25 feet maximum). Attach this wire to the ground lug on the right side of the E K SU.

TheCOlineinterfacesarebroughtoutontherightsideoftheBKSU/EKSU utilizing RJ11 connectors. The digital station interfaces are brought out utilizin g a 50-p in amphe nol conne ctor on the left s ide of th e BKS U/EKSU. The station interface for stations 100-107 also provides the wiring int e rfa c e f or the ad dit i onal fe at ure s t hat r eq uir e inp ut/ out put connections. The se fe ature s a re mus ic s ource s, re lay conne ctions , an d external p age conne ctions. 3 C O Lin e an d 8 Sin gle Li ne Stati on Board (CSIB) This board p rovide s three loop s ta rt CO lin e interface s a nd e ig ht Single Line T elep hone inte rfa ces. T hese interface s s upport 2500 touch ton e te le phone i nst r ument s and/or voi ce mai l int er face s. Thi s boar d ca n be ins ta ll ed in the BKS U or EKSU . A maxi mum of thr ee CS IBs m ay be in stall e d be twe en the B K S U/E K SU to pro vid e a max imu m o f 2 4 si ngl e li ne int e rfa c es. TheCOlineinterfacesarebroughtoutontherightsideoftheBKSU/EKSU utilizing RJ11 connectors. T he board a lso conta ins a s econd music source to increase the mu sic channels in the system from one to two. The board installs in the BKSU. Mo dem U ni t (M O D U ) This board provides a 9600 baud modem for remote system pr ogra mmi ng. T he mode m i s a ccess ed by dia li ng s ta ti on 499. MessageWaitUnit(MSGU) This board provides message wait lamp capability to the eight attached SLT instrum ents. This board is ins ta lled on the CSIB. Each CS IB m ay ha ve one MSGU installed. DT M F R ece iver Uni t (D T MF- A ) Thi s boar d p rovi de s f our DTM F re cei ve rs for C SI B use an d sho uld be installed any time a CSIB board is installed in the system. The BKSU supp orts one DTMF -A unit. Th e mod em may not al ways con nect at 9600 b ps. If y ou enco unter a si tuati on wh ere you c anno t conn ect a t 9600 bp s, ch ang e yo ur comp uter’s ba ud rate to 4800 b ps.
