    Remote Machine
    Th e  M a c h i n e Profile sc reen is used  to ad d , c hang e, d isp lay, or remove a remote 
    DEFINITY AUDIX mac hine for AMIS networking  and  d ig ital networking . The 
    DEFINITY AUDIX knows the d ifferenc e b etween a remote and  loc al mac hine b y 
    the mac hine name g iven to the ind ivid ual mac hine. (Use list Machines
     to see 
    mac hines ad ministered on this AUDIX network.)

    There are two sc reens that c ontain the remote mac hine information. Pag e 2 is 
    nearly the same as pag e 1. The entries are slightly d ifferent for a remote 
    mac hine.

    Dial String String of dig its used  when the 
    DEFINITY AUDIX System d ials the 
    remote mac hine to estab lish a call for 
    networking . For amisap mac hine this 
    is a mand atory inp ut field ; the value is 
    the telephone numb er of the remote 
    mac hine. For amisac and  c alld  
    mac hines an entry in this field  is 
    optional; if a value is entered it 
    sp ecifies the trunk ac c ess c od e of 
    the switch and  will be p rep end ed to 
    the telephone numb er of the remote 
    system that is entered  b y the 
    messag e orig inator. 0 to 29 c haracters c onsisting  of 
    d ig its, “ P” , and /or “ Pan” , inc lud ing  
    the q uotes. The n is a numb er from 
    1 to 9 indic ating  the number of 
    sec ond s to pause. “P” is 
    eq uivalent to “ P1” .
    For AMIS dig ital networking  casual 
    or messag e d elivery mac hines 
    and  d ig ital networking  machines, 
    the total numb er of dig its for this 
    field  p lus the extension leng th 
    must b e <  30 c harac ters.
    Entries in this field  are valid ated  
    when leaving the field . 
    Mod em String Leave b lank. This field  is c urrently not 
    b eing used . Do not confuse this with 
    the remote maintenanc e modem 
    initialization string , whic h is entered  
    on the System Parameters

    Callbac k Numb er The choic e of the callb ac k numb ers 
    whic h are p read ministered  on the 
    analog  network form. 
    For mac hine typ e ‘c alld’ this field  is 
    ig nored .1 to 5 and must reference to a 
    nonb lank c allb ac k numb er excep t 
    d efault c allbac k number 1.
    Data Rate Enter the d ata rate to b e used  for an 
    outg oing network c all to this 
    DEFINITY AUDIX system.
    This d ata rate is used  to selec t a 
    network g roup  for outg oing  c alls, so 
    this should  match a d ata rate 
    administered  for a network g roup  on 
    the Network Group  screen.DCP Mod e 1 =  56000 Kb ps
    DCP Mod e 2 =  9600 or 19200 bps
    DCP Mod e 3 =  64000 Kb ps
    Password Enter the p assword  the remote 
    system must use when estab lishing  a 
    networking  c onnec tion to the local 
    DEFINITY AUDIX system.
    Messag e 
    Transmission 
    Sc h ed u le
    Sta r t  Tim e – Enter the starting  time for 
    a messag e transmission period  to the 
    remote system (suc h as 00:01 for one 
    minute after mid nig ht).
    End  Tim e – Enter the end ing  time for 
    a messag e transmission period  to the 
    remote system suc h as 23:59 for one 
    minute b efore mid nig ht).
    Interval – Enter the interval at whic h 
    the local DEFINITY AUDIX system will 
    c all this remote system (such as 
    00:05 for every 5 minutes). The 
    DEFINITY AUDIX system checks the 
    q ueue at this interval (such as every 5 
    minutes) and  c alls the remote system 
    if something  is in the queue for this 
    remote system.
    It is recommend ed that you set up  
    d ifferent start times and  intervals for 
    eac h remote system so the loc al 
    DEFINITY AUDIX system is not trying 
    to c all all remote systems at the same 
    time.

    Log  Connec t Events Enter y if this loc al DEFINITY AUDIX 
    system will create an entry in the 
    administration log  for eac h network

    failures) to this remote system. This 
    field must b e set to y on the loc al 
    Mac hine Profile sc reen. You may

    many entries in the ad ministration

    Network Turnaround Enter y if a network connec tion that 
    orig inated  from this remote system is 
    allowed  to turn around  after the 
    remote system has sent all of its 
    network d ata to the loc al DEFINITY 
    AUDIX system. The loc al DEFINITY 
    AUDIX system may then return 
    upd ate information, voice mail, and  
    status on the same connection. This 
    feature red uces toll c harg es and  
    inc reases the effic iency of the system 
    in networks with more than 10 
    mac hines.

    The Test Mac hine Results sc reen is used  to test network c onnec tivity for d ig ital 
    networked  mac hines. This sc reen tests the c onnec tivity to the mac hine id entified  
    b y the mac hine ID. The mac hine ID c an either b e the ad ministered  name, or 
    voic e ID of any d ig itally networked  mac hine. If a p ort ID is sp ec ified , that p ort will 
    b e tested  if availab le. Otherwise, the first availab le networking  p ort will b e used 
    to p erform the test.

    Function Keys
    Initially, p ressing  Canc el returns the user to the c ommand line without exec uting  
    the test. Pressing  Enter starts the tests. While the tests are running , p ressing  
    Canc el ab orts the tests and  returns the user to the c ommand  line. Pressing  the 
    Enter key p uts the tests in the b ac kg round  and  returns the user to the c ommand  
    line.
    Th e

    Sample Tasks
    To p erform a d emand  aud it on sub sc rib ers’ mailb oxes: 
    1. Type audit mailboxes
     and  p ress   (Enter). 
    2. Press   (Enter) to execute the audit or press   (Cancel) to exit the 
    sc reen without exec uting  the audit. 
    3. The aud it name and  Result Cod e R, ind ic ating  that the aud it is running , 
    are d isp layed  on the sc reen. You c an wait for the aud it to finish or you c an 
    take one of the following  step s: 
    a. While the aud it is running , p ress   (Canc el) to ab ort the aud it and  
    exit the sc reen. 
    b . While the aud it is running, p ress   (Enter) to p ut the aud it in 
    b ac kg round  mod e and  return to the c ommand  line. Typ e status 
    audit
     to rec onnec t to the sc reen. 
    Additional Specifications
    An audit may take several minutes to run. While an audit is running  and  the aud it 
    sc reen is ac tive, p ressing    (Canc el) ab orts the aud it and  pressing    (Enter) 
    makes the aud it a b ac kg round  p roc ess. While the aud it is running  in the 
    b ac kg round  you c an ac tivate other (nonaud it) sc reens or you c an reac tivate the 
    aud it sc reen b y typ ing status audit
    . 
    If the aud it fails, the take following  step s (in the ord er shown) to c orrec t the 
    problem: 
    1. Resolve any ac tive alarms and  rerun the aud it. 
    2. If the aud it fails ag ain, c ontac t the TSO. 
    3. If the TSO is unavailab le and  the system is not p rovid ing  servic e, restart 
    the system using  the System Restart sc reen and  try the aud it ag ain. If d ata 
    files are missing  the restart will reb uild  them, or the system will request a 
    g eneric  restore if files need ed  b y the aud it d o not exist. Rerun the audit 
    when the restart has c ompleted .
