If the first five c harac ters sp ecify a valid b oard loc ation, entering d ig its in the 6th and 7th p ositions (for a p ort) will g enerate an error messag e. A port loc ation req uires all seven characters.5 to 7 c haracter p ort ad d ress of the sc reen p ort-network (2 d ig its), carrier (1 letter), slot (2 digits), and port (2 digits). For examp le, 01a0201 sp ecifies a p ort loc ation as follows: p ort-network= 01, c arrier= a, slot= 02, and p ort= 01. The ad ministrator also uses the Chang e Extensions sc reen to c hang e a b loc k of sub sc rib er extensions from one rang e of extensions to another rang e. The ad ministrator must sp ec ify the mac hine on whic h the sub sc rib ers are known to exist, the b eg inning rang e of extensions to be c hang ed , the end ing rang e of extensions to b e c hang ed , and the new b eg inning extension. The Chang e Extensions sc reen is availab le on an AUDIX state. change extensions The following field d esc rip tions inc lud e d ata to b e entered if a c ustomer is switching from a 4-digit dialing plan to a 5-digit dialing plan for the switch in whic h the DEFINITY AUDIX System is loc ated .

The Mac hine Name field would then inc lude the name of the loc al mac hine on whic h the entire b loc k of sub sc rib ers exist. Additional Specifications Before using the Change Extensions sc reen, all voic e and networking p orts should b e b usied -out. The ad ministrator must c hang e the extension length of the mac hine in q uestion, if nec essary. If the mentioned mac hine is the loc al mac hine, the c overing extensions that fall within the rang e sp ec ified will b e c hang ed for all loc al sub sc rib ers. Auto-attend ant b utton d efinitions; voic e and networking p ort ad ministration; system c overing extensions; and any other ad ministration that mentions an extension need to b e c hang ed manually. The Chang e Extension sc reen c hang es only the extension of a sub sc rib er and the c overing extension if nec essary. Sub sc rib ers may have to manually c hang e their outc alling numb ers.
