    Programming
    The System and Key Station features and programming of theSTARPL US®DH S -L™
    Systems are listed and desc ribed in this c hapter. A n abbreviated feature index is
    provided in
    Table 3-11: Feature Access Codes, full-feature descriptions are provided
    alphabetically following

    System Access- - System res ources a re accessed u sin g directory numbers to dial acces s
    the res ource (s ta tion num berin g, H unt Group numb ering, e tc.) .

    Soft Button / Display-- Thr e e L CD int er ac t iv e Soft B ut to ns a re pos it ion ed bene at h t he
    display on the Executive Key Telephone. These buttons are used during feature operation
    for in tera ctive display prom pt menus. For orienta tion p urpos es , the Sof t Bu ttons may be
    re fe rr ed to as the l ef t, c ent er a nd r i ght So ft B u t t o ns.
    The following is an example of the LCD display at an idle Executive Key Telephone. The
    Soft Butto ns are immediately below the bottom line of the display oriented at left, center
    and ri ght pos it ion s.

    Soft Button Prompts

    press the store [save] button to confirm entry and continue with the next prompt item.
    chg: Press the change [chg] button to modify the curre nt prompted item . If the data/
    mes sag e to b e cha nged is ge nerated by the sy stem itse lf, the cu rrent p rogramming item
    wil l be r epl ace d by new dat a (tog gle d b et wee n YE S a nd NO , or cycle d t hr ough s eve ra l
    dat a/ me ssa ges ) whe n t he use r pre ss es th e [ch g] but t on.
    ne x t:Rep eate d de press ions of the [n ext] bu tton will p re se nt the ne xt se le ction or the
    next programmable item within the current category.
    back:Repeated depressions of the [back] button operate similarly to the [next] button
    where th e p revious p rogramm ing category is selected, or the prev ious programming
    item within the current category is selected.
    show: Press the display [show] button to enter into detailed item feature programming
    of a sp ecific ca tegory, o r to d is pla y current progra mmed content of the fea ture.
    clear: The [cl ea r] b utt on can be use d at any ti me in s yst em pr ogra mmin g. De pr es si ng t his
    button aborts a ny programming in p rogre ss and re turns the E xecutiv e Ke y T elep hone to
    an idle state.
    Programming
    Us in g a P C
    TheDHS- Lsoftware allows the se rvice te chnician to progra m theDHS-Lsystem using an
    external, PC -ba sed, D OS sof twa re programming tool. T he DOS s oftware tool stream lines
    programming and allows for database printout and reserve storage. Operation of the PC
    Programm ing s oftware is not covered in this text. Tho se unf amiliar with PC op eration an d
    the D OS en vironme nt should re ly on the following (a ll e ncompas sing) b uilt-in Datab ase
    Ad m in ist r at io n fac i li ty .
    Programming Tip
    Th e mom ent th e [ ch g] b utton is p res s ed a nd the va lue d is play ed , that op era tion b eco mes
    functi ona l (this is true fo r any d ataba se fiel d whe re th e [chg ] b utton se le cts fro m the
    ava ilab le d ata fie ld v alue s ).
    In other areasof programming where data is entered fromthe dial pad, the [save] Soft
    Butto n must be p ressed t o sa ve t hat e nte red d ata.

    Three LCD interactive soft buttons are instrumental in the database programming
    pr ocess . Pr ogr ammi ng mu st be pe rfo rme d a t an E xecutiv e model k ey te le phone .
    Opera tion
    To ma ke cha nges in the cus tom er databa se, you must e nte r D atabas e Pr ogra mmi ng fr om
    an idle Executive (display model) Key Telephone. (Any Executive Key Telephone
    connected to any station port will se rv e a s the programming e ntry te rm inal).
    To enter the pr ogra mmi ng mod e:
    1. From an idle station, pres s the [FE AT ] b utton. The display cha nge s as s ee n be low :
    2. Dial [#] + [
    ✳] on the keypad. The display prompts for the database password. The
    default password is ######## (8 #s).
    3. When the center Soft Button [next] is pressed, the next sequential programming
    ca tegory is d is pla yed.

    If the left Soft Button [back] is pressed, the last programming category is displayed.

    The two Soft Buttons (left and center) [back] and [next] can be pressed repeatedly to
