The KSU di mens ions ar e: †Wi dth : 2 1. 6 in. †Height: 18.1 in. †De pt h: 1 5 in. Two la rge slots located on the back of the KSU are d es igned f or wall m ounting via a wall mount bracket. There are two screw slots located o n the bottom, back of the cabinet also for aiding in wall mounting. The cab ine t was de sig ned with conv enien t s ervicing in mind. Once remov ed, all servicea ble comp onents are eas ily access ed (Refer to Figure 2- 1). This includes the backplane, cards, card slots, station and trunk connections, gro und conne ctions, ba ttery con nections , p ower su pply an d fus es . The s ystem’sarchitecture is based on the universal slot concept, which allows a great deal of flexibility when planning the sys te m conf iguration .

T he MPB also c onta ins t he s yst em mem ory and m ai nta ins a c us tome r -r el at ed d at abas e i n s yst em R AM . All call pro ce ss ing and sys te m ma inten ance are p erformed by the MPB. T he MPB use s a st anda rd st ra ight -t hr ough ca ble . Two RS-232 serial DB-9 conn ectors are positione d in the front of the MPB. T he top connector, which is marked DBA, is used for connection to a pers onal compu ter with remote prog ram ming software and with IC LID . T he bottom connector, ma rked S MDR, is used for connecting to a Station Message Detail Recording (SMDR) device.Ta b l e 2 - 1 shows the RS -232 p ort conne ctions . The MISB can accomm odate a n optiona l p iggy back D TMF receiv er for an a dditional eight re ceive rs and eight dial tone dete ctors f or use in configura tions conta ining m any analog telephone p orts. It a ls o has a prop rietary C MOS device which ha ndles th e conf erence clocking fun ction of the system. T he device contains eig ht identical circuits, ea ch capab le of conferencin g up to four parties; it operates on an internal 8. 192 MH z clock and outp uts three frequencies used by the system: 2.048, 4.096, and 8.192 MHz. The MISB ha s a red LED in dica tor that flas hes to ind icate that the ca rd is functional.
