DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 Installation, Upgrades, and Additions for Compact Modular Cabinets 555-233-118 Issue 1 April 2000 Adding or Removing Hardware 4-9 Add Multiple Integrated Recorded Announcement 4 Replace a TN750/B with a TN750C or Move all Announcements from a TN750/B to a TN750C Use this p roc ed ure to replac e a TN750/B c irc uit p ac k with a TN750C c irc uit p ac k or to move every announc ement from a TN750/B to a TN750C. !CAUTION: Do not c op y or restore announc ements from a TN750C to a TN750 or TN750B c irc uit p ac k, as this may c orrupt the announc ement d ata. 1. Save announc ements from the TN750/B to the translation c ard . 2. Insert the TN750C into a vac ant slot of a c arrier. 3. Type add data-module next and press En t e r to ad minister a new d ata mod ule on the TN750C. 4. Type announcement in the Type field . 5. Typ e the loc ation in the Board field and press En te r. 6. Type restore announcements for the TN750C. Wait until announc ements c op y from voic e RAM to flash memory (yellow LED on the TN750C stop s flashing ). This may take ab out 10 minutes. 7. Type busyout board and press En t e r for the TN750/B. 8. Type change integrated announcements and press En te r. This mod ifies the translations for the TN750/B to referenc e the TN750C c irc uit pac k. 9. Verify prop er p layb ac k of the announc ements from the TN750C. 10. Typ e release board and p ress En te r for the TN750/B. 11. Remove the TN750/B c irc uit p ac k if it is no long er nec essary. Add TN750C Circuit Packs 1. Insert the TN750C into a vac ant slot in a c arrier and ad minister a new d ata mod ule on the TN750C, as d esc rib ed in DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e. 2. To ad minister new announc ements to that TN750C slot, type change announcements and press En t e r. 3. Rec ord the announc ements, as d esc ribed in DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e. Wait until the announc ements c op y from voic e RAM to the onb oard flash memory (the yellow LED on the TN750C starts and then stops flashing ). This takes ab out 10 minutes.

Type change announcements and press En t e r to c hang e the c irc uit pac k loc ations of a p artic ular announc ement. (You may also c hang e the c omp ression rate at this time.) 2. Move the announc ement, as desc rib ed in DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Ad ministrator’s Guid e. Add ISDN — PRI North American 1. Install a TN767E (or later) DS1 or a TN464F DS1/E1 c irc uit pac k for a sig naling link and up to 23 ISDN — PRI Trunk Group members. 2. Install a Tone-Cloc k c irc uit p ac k to p rovid e sync hronization for the DS1 circuit pack. If using a TN464F, then p ac ket b us sup p ort has not b een ad d ed , req uiring more than 8 PRI signaling groups. See ‘‘Add Packet Bus Support’’ on page 4-11 for adding circuit packs for packet bus support. International 1. Install a TN464C (or later) DS1/E1 c irc uit p ac k for the assig nment of the 2 sig naling c hannels and up to 30 ISDN — PRI Trunk Group memb ers. Eac h E1 sp an p rovid es 32 p orts. 2. Type save translation and press En te r. This instruc ts the system to take all translation information in memory and write it to the translation c ard s. 2. Up d ate b ac kup c ard s, if nec essary. Add Packet Bus Support Disable Alarm Origination 1. Type change system-parameters maintenance and press En t e r. 2. Choose the p ort b and wid ths or use the d efault and sub mit the form. 4. Verify the bus brid ge LED is lit on the TN799 C-LAN c irc uit p ac k. This indic ates that the p ac ket b us is enab led. Test the Packet Bus and C-LAN Circuit Pack 1. Type test packet port-network 1 long and p ress En t e r. Get the DOSS order number of the upgrade from the project manager and ask the reg ional Customer Software Ad ministration to c omp lete the step s in the shad ed b ox. See ‘‘Where to Call for Tec hnic al Sup p ort’’ on p ag e -xix for telep hone numb ers. NOTE: As p art of the system reg istration p roc ess, the INADS Datab ase Ad ministrator enab les Alarm Orig ination. 2. When ad ministration is c omp leted , log in as craft at the Login: prompt. These d ata links, also c alled DCS sig naling links, supp ort the feature transp arenc y. Various sub sets (dep end ing on the sp ec ific c onfig uration) of DS1 Interfac e c irc uit p ac ks (inc lud ing TN464C, TN767C, and TN760) p rovid e the voic e-c ommunic ations interfac e. Meanwhile, the d ata link interfac e (b etween the p roc essor and the p hysic al sig naling link) is p rovid ed b y (or throug h) a TN799 Control-LAN c irc uit p ac k. In some c onfig urations, the TN799 passes the sig naling information over a sep arate 10BaseT TCP/IP network (usually via a hub ). For use with 10BaseT, c onnec t the ap p rop riate p ins of the I/O field to the hub , or use a 259A c onnec tor and DW8 c ab le to c onnec t d irec tly to the d ata-network eq uip ment. For p inouts and d iag rams, refer to the installation manual. In other c onfig urations, the TN799 c irc uit p ac k c arries sig naling over p oint-to-p oint p rotoc ol (PPP) for subseq uent inc lusion (via the switc hing fab ric ) in the same DS1 b it stream as the DSC voic e transmissions.
