For more information about installing ad junc ts and p erip heral d evic es, refer to DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Installation for Ad junc ts and Perip herals. Add Circuit Packs When installing additional features or equipment, it may be necessary to install ad d itional c irc uit p ac ks. To see a list of allowab le c irc uit p ac ks, see ‘‘Allowable Circuit Packs for CMC’’ on page 1-31. This is a g eneral p roc ed ure to use when ad d ing features or eq uip ment that req uire ad d ing c irc uit p ac ks. 1. Log onto the system and answer y to the Sup p ress Alarm Orig ination q uestion d uring log in. 2. Install the c irc uit p ac k into the c arrier. 3. Type change circuit-pack . 4. Verify the c irc uit p ac k app ears in the listing . 5. If the c irc uit p ac k c ode is not p resent, typ e the c od e manually in the p rop er slot. 6. Type test board long and press En t e r to test the b oard . 7. Log off the system after the ad dition (and any req uired ad ministration) is complete. Installation 1. Determine the p ort assig nment of the trunk from the trunk g roup sc reen. 2. The TN2313 DS1 Tie Trunk, TN767B (or later) DS1 Interfac e, and TN464C (or later) DS1 Interfac e c irc uit p ac ks p rovide c onnec tions to a 2.048-Mb p s DS1 fac ility (E1) as 32 ind ep end ent 64-kb p s trunks. Service Interruption 1. Sinc e the ad d ition of DS1 tie-trunk servic e may req uire a servic e interrup tion, notify the c ustomer in ad vanc e as to when the ad d ition will oc c ur. 2. Add Speech Synthesis The Sp eec h Synthesizer c irc uit p ac k is req uired when the Voic e Messag e Retrieval, Automatic Wakeup , or Do Not Disturb features are ac tivated . The c irc uit p ac k does not req uire ad ministration. 1. Determine the p ort assig nment of the Sp eec h Synthesizer c irc uit p ac k being added. 2. Install the Sp eec h Synthesizer c irc uit p ac k in the d esig nated c arrier slot. Add Code Calling Access The tones for the Cod e Calling feature are g enerated b y the Tone-Cloc k c irc uit p acks in the port networks. 1. Install an Auxiliary Trunk c irc uit p ac k or a Sp eec h Synthesizer c irc uit p ac k and c onnec t for Loud sp eaker Pag ing . The Cod e Calling Ac c ess feature shares the same p orts as Loudsp eaker Pag ing . An integ rated c onversion requires a Pooled Mod em c irc uit p ac k for eac h 2 c onversion resourc es p rovid ed. A c omb ined c onversion requires a p ort of a TN745B or TN2136 Dig ital Line c irc uit p ac k and a p ort of either an 8-p ort TN742, TN769, a 16-p ort TN746B, or a 24-p ort TN793/B, TN2793/B Analog Line c irc uit p ac k for eac h c onversion resourc e provid ed . The p ooled mod em req uires a Luc ent WP90110 L7 p ower sup p ly. Althoug h integ rated c onversion c an use either the L5 or L7, the c omb ined only works with an L7. !CAUTION: The L5 and L7 p ower sup p lies look id entic al. Chec k the lab el to b e sure you have the L7 b efore installing . Determine the port assignment of the circuit packs to be added (if required). 3. Install the ap p rop riate c irc uit pac ks in assigned c arrier slot (if req uired ). 4. For Paradyne 3800 series mod ems: a. Type AT&F&D2&S4\D3S2=128x7V2S7=60S85=1 and p ress En te r. b. Type ATY0S10=100S78=2M0E0\N1&W and p ress En t e r. 5.For other typ es of mod ems, refer to the vend or’s d oc umentation. Settings for Modem Connected to Data Module 1. Type add data-module next and press En t e r. 2. Type pdm in the Type field . 3. Type x in the Port field. 4. Type dte in the Connected to field and press En te r. 5. Add Multiple Integrated Recorded Announcement TN750C c irc uit p ac ks are req uired if the system has multiple announc ement c irc uit p ac ks. Up to 5 TN750Cs are allowed in a Release 7 or later. The announc ements from a TN750 or TN750B c an b e c op ied to a TN750C. !CAUTION: Do not c op y or restore announc ements from a TN750C to a TN750 or TN750B c irc uit p ac k, as this p roc ess may c orrupt the announc ement d ata. 1. Install the TN750C c irc uit pac k into any p ort slot. NOTE: Only 1 TN750 or TN750B c an reside in the system with a TN750C. The TN750C need not resid e in a c ontrol c arrier for extra p ower hold over. TN750C Announcement Circuit Pack The TN750C c irc uit p ac k c ontains on-b oard flash memory that p rovides internal b ac kup of announc ements. Thus, the TN750C c irc uit p ac k d oes not need the save and restore p roc esses.

The d ifferenc e in op eration is that the TN750C automatic ally restores and rep orts the availab ility of announc ements from its own internal flash memory in 5 minutes, rather than the 40 minutes for the TN750 or TN750B. If a c irc uit p ac k alread y has announc ements in its flash memory, the yellow LED flashes as the announc ements c op y to the voic e RAM. Save and Restore Recorded Announcements !CAUTION: If the yellow LED is flashing , d o not remove the c irc uit p ac k, as this will c orrup t the announc ement d ata. 1. Type save announcements and p ress En t e r. 2. To restore announc ements, typ e restore announcements to and p ress En t e r. After 5 minutes (with no alterations to the announc ements), the TN750C automatic ally c op ies the announc ements from the voic e RAM to the internal flash memory. The yellow LED on the front of the TN750C flashes. You c an only save the announc ement c ontents of 1 c irc uit p ac k at a time. For the c ontents of every c irc uit p ac k, save to sep arate translation c ard s. Lab el eac h translation c ard so that it matc hes the c irc uit p ac k. TN750 and TN750B Announcement Circuit Packs To save the rec ord ed announc ements in the system, typ e save announcements and p ress En t e r. Use these c od es after b usiness hours or when the system is op erating d uring a low-usage p eriod. The system takes ab out 40 minutes to transfer the rec ord ed announc ements from the announc ement c irc uit p ac k to the translation c ard . During this time, the manag ement terminal c annot b e used to ad minister the system; however, all other ad ministration terminals, if p rovid ed, are allowed to p erform ad ministration p roc ed ures. Ty p e restore announcements and press En te r to restore the rec ord ed announc ements from the translation c ard to system memory.
