5.Remove the Encoder Strip Spring. NOTE: When you finish installing or replacing this component, yo u must perform the necessary Service Calibrations. To find which calibrations you must perform, refer to Service Calibration Guide to Removal and Installation on page 170 . Trailing Cable Removal NOTE: Switch off the printer and remove the power cable. 1.Remove the Left Cover (refer Left Cover on page 188). 2. Remove the Right Cover (refer Right Cover on page 185). 3. Remove the Front Panel (refer Front Panel on page 203). 4. Remove the Top Cover (refer Top Cover on page 205). 5. Remove the Window Position Sensor (refer Window Position Sensor on page 208). 6. Remove the Ink Supply Tubes Support Rail (refer Ink Supply Tubes Support Rail on page 209). 7. Loosen the T-10 uncapping scre w sufficiently so you can manually move the Carriage Assembly in step 8. 8.Push the Carriage Assembly into the print path. 9.Unclip the small cover of the Carriage PCA. 10.Remove the small cover of the Carriage PCA. 238 Chapter 6 Removal and Installation ENWW
11.Disconnect the two ribbon c ables of the Trailing Cables from the Carriage PCA. 12.Straighten the two ribbon cables of the Trailing Cables and remove the Ferrite Core. 13.Lift up the top trailing cable. ENWW Trailing Cable 239
14.Remove the lower part of the trailing cable. 15.Slide the Trailing Cables out of the atta chment clips of the Carriage Assembly. 16.Use a short torx screwdriver to remove the two T- 10 screws that secure the center attachment of the Trailing Cables. 240 Chapter 6 Removal and Installation ENWW
17.Unclip the center attachment of the Trailing Cables. 18.Disconnect the two ribb on cables of the Trailing Cables from the Electronics Module. 19.Unroute the Trailing Cables. ENWW Trailing Cable 241

23.Remove the Trailing Cables from the printer. Installation NOTE: When you finish installing or replacing this component, yo u must perform the necessary Service Calibrations. To find which calibrations you must perform, refer to Service Calibration Guide to Removal and Installation on page 170 . NOTE: Make sure you carry out the following actions during the installation of the Trailing Cable. 1.Use an alcohol (from the Lubrication Kit or Tool Kit) dampened cloth to remove all traces of residual adhesive (remaining from the double sided pads removed from the printer before applying new pads in the same positions as the original pads. 2. Make sure both ribbon cables of the Trailing Cable are routed bel ow the lower attachment clips of the Carriage Assembly. ENWW Trailing Cable 243
3.Make sure that the Ferrite Core is correctly posit ioned so that the small cover of the Carriage PCA closes correctly to avoid possible friction damag e to the Trailing Cable during operation of the printer. Carriage Assembly (with or without Trailing Cable) Removal NOTE: Switch off the printer and remove the power cable. NOTE:If you replace the Carriage Assembly with service parts Q6683-60231 (24 inch) or Q6687-60087 (44 inch) that include a Trailing Cable, reme mber to remove the Trailing Cable with the Carriage Assembly. 1. Remove the Front Cover (refer Front Cover on page 177). 2. Remove the Right Cover (refer Right Cover on page 185). 3. Remove the Left Cover (refer Left Cover on page 188). 4. Remove the Cutter Assembly (refer Cutter Assembly on page 199). 5. Remove the Front Panel (refer Front Panel on page 203). 6. Remove the Top Cover (refer Top Cover on page 205). 7. Remove the Window Position Sensor (refer Window Position Sensor on page 208). 8. Remove the Ink Supply Tubes Support Rail (refer Ink Supply Tubes Support Rail on page 209). 9. Manually uncap the Service Station before removing the Encoder Strip (with spring and attachment nut) (refer Encoder Strip (with spring and attachment nut) on page 231). 10. Remove the Encoder Strip (with spring and attachment nut) (refer Encoder Strip (with spring and attachment nut) on page 231). 11. 12.Use a short torx screwdriver to remove the two T- 10 screws that secure the center attachment of the Trailing Cables. 13. Unclip the center attachment of the Trailing Cables. 14.Disconnect the two ribb on cables of the Trailing Cables from the Electronics Module.
