System prgming / 221 P0603539 02Compact ICS 6.1 Installer Guide Setting SWCA controls You can assign up to 16 System Wide Call Appearance (SWCA) keys to each telephone in a group. This is performed using the Key programming heading under Terminals&Sets, User Preferences headings. SWCA controls are controlled by feature codes ²¥ÞÛâto ²¥ÞÜÞ. The user can also program this feature using these feature codes. Refer to the Compact ICS System Coordinator Guide for instructions about programming features onto memory keys. On the system, under Feature Settings, SWCA Cntl you define how incoming calls get associated to SWCA keys and how Hold will handle the calls. The Auto Associate setting determines if answered calls will automatically be assigned to SWCA keys ( Auto Associate = Y). If you want the user to press the Hold button or a free SWCA key before the call transfers to a SWCA key, set Auto Associate to N. Calls remain assigned to SWCA keys for the duration of the call. The Invoke by Hold setting determines if a SWCA call put on Hold can be picked up from other extensions in the group. If you want the call to be available to be picked up by other members of the groups when you put a call on Hold, set Invoke by Hold: to Y. A flashing indicator appears beside an available SWCA key when an incoming call is put on Hold. If you want calls to remain on Hold only at the telephone where the call is received, set Invoke by Hold: to N. Even if you set this field to N, users can still put selected calls on SWCA hold, by pressing a free SWCA key to put the call on Hold. Refer to the System Administrator Guide sections on assigning key programming and for instructions about using the keys. Tips - Since SWCA keys use the park feature, ensure that you have park turned on for your system by specifying a Park Prefix (Access codes), and a park timeout setting (System programming, Featr settings).

Also refer to the MICS ICS 6.1 System Coordinator Guide for information about using the Silent Monitoring feature. Note:Some market profiles do not allow silent break-ins. In those markets Silent Monitor can be disabled (set to N) or a monitoring tone can be configured. Direct-Dial Direct-dial allows you to dial a designated telephone with a single digit. The direct-dial telephone can be inside the Norstar system or it can be outside the system in the public network. The direct-dial telephone is usually assigned to a receptionist for an entire office or for a particular department. The direct dial code is entered under Access Codes.

224 / System prgming Compact ICS 6.1 Installer GuideP0603539 02 D-Dial1 For the direct-dial telephone, indicate whether it is an internal or external number. Use ≠ and CHANGE to select the setting: Intrnl, Extrnl, or None. Number Enter the internal or external number that the system will automatically dial when someone enters the direct-dial digit. Use ≠, CHANGE, and the dialpad to enter the telephone number. The default number for the direct-dial telephone is 21. Line selection If you assign an external number as a direct-dial telephone, you must indicate which line to use for the call. Use ‘, CHANGE, and the dialpad to select the line for the external number. Tip - There is just one direct-dial digit for the entire system. The Norstar system cannot verify that the number you assign as an external direct-dial telephone is valid. Check the number before assigning it as a direct-dial telephone, and call the direct-dial telephone after you’ve assigned it in order to test it. You cannot forward calls to any direct-dial telephone that is outside your Norstar system. See Call Forward in the Compact ICS 6.1 System Coordinator Guide.

System prgming / 225 P0603539 02Compact ICS 6.1 Installer Guide CAP/KIM assgnInstaller password required This setting designates a telephone as a central answering position (CAP). The default assignment is None. CAP configurations consist of one of the following: M7324 telephones with attached CAP modules. A maximum of 1 CAP can be installed in a Norstar system. T7316E telephones with attached KIMs. The maximum number of KIMs on a system, depends on the configuration of the KIM module. Refer to the KIM installation guide for information. These modules may be used to: monitor the busy/not busy and Do Not Disturb status of Norstar telephones answer external calls and extend calls to other Norstar telephones send up to 30 messages to other Norstar telephones provide extra memory buttons for M7324 and T7316E telephones A KIM attached to a T7316E telephone, but not assigned with the DN of the telephone under CAP/KIM assgn, is called an ordinary KIM (OKIM) and is not programmed through the system. The user can configure features from the desktop. A KIM attached to a T7316E which is assigned the DN of the telephone under CAP/KIM assgn is called an enhanced KIM (eKIM). Besides the basic operations, these KIMs can be assigned with multiple lines, including target lines, as well as Hunt group appearances. Only one of this type of KIM can be installed on a CICs system. To configure a CAP with eKIM: Use ≠, CHANGE and the dialpad to enter the internal number of the M7324 or T7316E telephone to be designated as a CAP.

226 / System prgming Compact ICS 6.1 Installer GuideP0603539 02 . Tips - If CAP modules are attached to a telephone that has not been programmed as a CAP, then no CAP settings are assigned. If a CAP module is relocated with the telephone, the settings are retained. If you replace a T7324 CAP unit with a T7316E unit, only the line assignments will be copied to the new telephone, but not to the KIM. The telephone programming will revert to the default settings. If you move an OKIM from one T7316E to another, the KIM will retain memory button programming. However, if you move an eKIM from one T7316E to another, programming will not follow. Tips - A station auxiliary power supply (SAPS) is required for M7324 telephones that have one or more CAP modules attached. A SAPs is not required for T7316E telephones with four or fewer KIMs. If the KIMs are designated as eKIMS, you can only attach a maximum of four modules to a T7316E telephone. You must add a SAPS if more than four KIMs are added to the T7316E. Note also that the line loop to the CAP cannot be greater than 304.8 m (1000 feet).

System prgming / 227 P0603539 02Compact ICS 6.1 Installer Guide Access codes Access codes are used by the system to direct calls to the correct lines and destinations. If the codes conflict, some of the features on the system will not work. The table of default settings can help you plan your access codes so there are no conflicts. It assumes you are using a fully expanded Compact ICS. See the wiring information in the Installation chapter for DN numbering for smaller configurations. 228 / System prgming Compact ICS 6.1 Installer GuideP0603539 02 Line pool codesInstaller password required This setting allows you to assign a line pool access code for each of the three line pools (A to C). These codes are used to specify the line pool you wish to use for making an outgoing external call. Use ≠, CHANGE, the dialpad, and OK to program the access code. The default access code is None.. Park prefixInstaller password required The Park prefix is the first digit of the call park retrieval code that you enter to retrieve a parked call. If Park prefix is None, calls cannot be parked. Press CHANGE to select the setting: 1 to 9, None, or 0. Tip - The code can be one to four digits in length. Line pool access codes starting with the same digit must be the same length. A line pool access code can be the same as an external line access code. In this case, the line pool access code takes priority over the external line access code, and a line from the line pool is selected. A line pool access code cannot conflict with: the Park prefix, the direct-dial digit the first digit of any Received number the first digit of any DN (including the Auto DN or the DISA DN)
