DEFINITY AUDIX System Digital Networking 585-300-534 Issue 2 May 1999 DCP Mode 2 — 9600 or 19,200 bps 4-7 DEFINITY AUDIX Modem/Data Module Arrangements 4 DEFINITY AUDIX to DEFINITY AUDIX Multistag e d ialing from one DEFINITY AUDIX system to another DEFINITY AUDIX system p ermits a d ig ital networking p ort to p lac e a c all in three stag es. 1. Call a DCP-to-mod em c onversion resourc e. 2. Initiate a sec ond c all off p remises over analog fac ilities to a remote mod em. 3. Estab lish the final c onnec tion to the remote d ig ital networking port. All three stag es must b e inc lud ed in the Dial String entered on the Mac hine Profile sc reen for c alling the other system. DEFINITY AUDIX to Intuity AUDIX or AUDIX R1 Multistag e d ialing from a DEFINITY AUDIX system to an Intuity AUDIX system or an AUDIX R1 system permits a d ig ital networking port to p lac e a c all in two stag es. 1. Call a DCP-to-mod em c onversion resourc e. 2. Initiate a sec ond c all off p remises over analog fac ilities to a remote modem or modem pool. These two stages must be inc luded in the Dial String entered on the DEFINITY AUDIX Mac hine Profile sc reen for c alling the Intuity AUDIX system or AUDIX R1 system. Intuity AUDIX or AUDIX R1 to DEFINITY AUDIX Multistag e d ialing from an Intuity AUDIX system or an AUDIX R1 system to a DEFINITY AUDIX system p ermits a dig ital networking p ort to p lac e a c all in two stag es. 1. Initiate a c all off p remises over analog fac ilities to a remote mod em. 2. Estab lish the final c onnec tion to the remote d ig ital networking port. The Intuity AUDIX or AUDIX R1 dial string must inc lud e these two stag es for c alling the DEFINITY AUDIX system. DEFINITY AUDIX System Digital Networking 585-300-534 Issue 2 May 1999 DCP Mode 2 — 9600 or 19,200 bps 4-9 DEFINITY AUDIX Modem/Data Module Arrangements 4 In the d ial string shown in the ab ove fig ure, the end of the first stag e of d ialing is indic ated b y the W c ommand whic h tells the DEFINITY AUDIX system to wait for a c onnec tion to b e estab lished to the next element. Calling via a mod em/data mod ule arrang ement (shown in the ab ove fig ure) involves the following stag es: nStage 1 . The DEFINITY AUDIX system send s the d ial string 4993 to estab lish a c onnec tion with the d ig ital sid e of a mod em/d ata mod ule arrang ement at a c ommon DCP Mod e 2 d ata rate (9600 or 19200 b p s). In the ab ove fig ure, this c onnec tion is from the DEFINITY AUDIX system to the ADU. (An Intuity AUDIX system or an AUDIX R1 system to a DEFINITY AUDIX system d oes not require this stag e b ut may req uire c ommas for p auses.) nStage 2 . The DEFINITY AUDIX system then send s the Hayes d ialing commands (in the above figure, this string is ATDT 9=19086587100). The loc al mod em g oes off-hook and initiates a c all to the remote end p oint. The mod em at the remote end p oint answers the c all. nStage 3 . The third stag e of the d ial string tells the remote d ata mod ule to g o off hook (ind ic ated b y the W [wait] and B [ b reak] c ommand ) and d ial the digital networking port hunt group 7104. The c all c omp letes to the remote DEFINITY AUDIX system. (A DEFINITY AUDIX system to an Intuity AUDIX system or an AUDIX R1 system d oes not req uire this stag e b ut may req uire c ommas for pauses.)
