DEFINITY AUDIX System Digital Networking 585-300-534 Issue 2 May 1999 Hardware Installation for DCP Mode 2 8-2 Hardware Installation Using a 7400A Data Module 8 Hardware Installation Using a 7400A Data Module You need the following eq uip ment: n7400A Data Mod ule and 7400A p ower sup p ly nM7U null-mod em c ab le (male-male) (3 feet) n103A or wall jac k (2 for eac h mod em/d ata mod ule arrangement) nD8W c ord (14 feet) nCompatible modem (refer to Chap ter 4, ‘‘DCP Mod e 2 — 9600 or 19,200 bps’’, for a list of c omp atib le mod ems) NOTE: Refer to Fi g u re 8 - 1, 7400A Data Mod ule in a DCP Mod e 2 Mod em/Data Mod ule Arrang ement. 1. Use the 7400A front p anel to set the 7400A op tions. Refer to 7400A Op tion Setting s later in this c hapter. 2. Use a D8W wall c ord to c onnec t the 7400A Data Mod ule to the 103A or wall jack. 3. To c onnec t the 7400A Data Mod ule to the c omp atib le mod em, use an M7U null-mod em c ab le (male-male). 4. Use a 2/4 Wire Line Cord to c onnec t the Parad yne Mod em to the 103A or wall jack This c omp letes the hard ware installation using a 7400A Data Mod ule. The following tasks in Chap ter 9, ‘‘Initial Network Ad ministration and Ac c ep tanc e Tests’’, need to b e c omp leted before the installation is c omp lete: nTask 9: Ad minister Remote System(s) on the Loc al DEFINITY AUDIX Sys t e m. nTask 10: Ad minister the DEFINITY AUDIX on the Remote Mac hine(s) nTask 11: Test the Connec tion to Eac h Remote System Complete Chap ter 9.

Use a 2/4 Wire Line Cord to c onnec t the Parad yne Mod em to the 103A or wall jack. This c omp letes the hard ware installation using an ADU. DEFINITY AUDIX System Digital Networking 585-300-534 Issue 2 May 1999 Hardware Installation for DCP Mode 2 8-6 Configuring the Paradyne Comsphere 3810/3820 Series Modems using the 8 Configuring the Paradyne Comsphere 3810/3820 Series Modems using the Diagnostic Control Panel The Diag nostic Control Panel’s (DCP) liq uid c rystal d isp lay (LCD) c onsists of two 16-c harac ter lines, whic h d isp lay mod em status, c ontrol func tions, and c onfig uration op tions. To c onfig ure the Comsp here 3810/3820 series mod ems for digital networking, you must program the modem using the DCP. To c onfig ure the Comsp here mod em to work with DEFINITY AUDIX d ig ital networking , p erform the following step s: 1. On the DCP, p ress the key until Configure c omes into view. 2. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er Config ure to selec t the Config ure menu. The LCD disp lays Ld EditArea frm . 3. Press the key until Factory c omes into view. 4. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er Fac tory to d isp lay the fac tory p reset configurations. 5. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er Async Dial . 6. The LCD disp lays the following lines: Choose Func tion Edit Save 7. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er the Ed it op tion. The LCD disp lays the following lines: Edit StrapGroup DTE_Interface The DTE_Interfac e sub menu op tion c ontains setting s for the EIA-232-D (ITU V.24) and for the async hronous c harac ter formation information used to maintain the c onnec tion and to transmit d ata b etween the mod em and the 7400A or ADU. 8. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er the DTE_Interfac e submenu. The LCD displays the following lines: Async/Sync Mode Nxt Async 9. The Async mod e is the c orrec t setting . Parad yne p eriod ic ally up d ates their modem firmware with new op tions so your firmware may d iffer from the firmware that is depicted in Table 8-1 and Table 8-2. All op tions and setting s that are req uired for DEFINITY AUDIX d ig ital networking are p resent in all firmware releases. Use the following p roc ed ure: nIf the setting is not in b old fac e typ e, press the func tion key d irec tly und er Nxt to c ontinue to the next menu item. nFor the b old fac e items, use the following p roc ed ure: 1. Press the key until the option d isp lays on the LCD. 2. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er the option. 3. Th e key inc reases the d ig it. 1. The c ursor is und er the first d ig it. Press the key until 1 displays. 2. Press the key to move the c ursor to the sec ond d ig it. 3. Press the key until 2 d isp lays. 4. Press the key to move the c ursor to the third d ig it. 5. Press the key until 8 d isp lays. 6. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er ASCI to save the numb er. 7. Press the func tion key und er Nxt to move to the next option. nThe last op tion in the menu has an End func tion instead of the Nxt func tion. Press the func tion key d irec tly und er End. After setting the op tions for the DTE_Dialer sub menu, c ontinue to set the op tions for the Line_Dialer, Dial Line, V42/MNP/Buffer, and Test and Misc sub menus. At the Edit StrapGroup menu, p ress the key to move to the d esired sub menu. Press the func tion key d irec tly under the Ac tive(Saved ) op tion. This saves the setting s and c omp letes the c onfiguration of the mod em. The LCD d isp lays Command Complete . 16. Press the key to return the mod em to the normal op erating p osition. For examp le: Idle: 9600 Call_Setup To Chang e any setting s at a later d ate, rep eat the ab ove p roc ed ure. In step 3, selec t Ac tiv(Op erating ) instead of Fac tory.
