Network duplication administration
The p roc ed ure to ad minister ATM network d up lic ation (Table 3-17) assumes that 
c ustomers with:

This c hapter d esc rib es the p roc ed ures for up g rad ing  a DEFINITY ECS with and 
without ATM-PNC to a Release 8r ATM-PNC. ATM-PNC features are only availab le 
in Release 6.3r or later systems. For information on installing  a DEFINITY ECS, 
refer to DEFINITY Enterp rise Communic ations Server Release 8 Upg rad es and  
Ad d itions for R8r. 
Upgrade paths
The main DEFINITY ECS up g rad e p aths are
nUpgrading CSS to R8r ATM-PNC
nUpgrading R6.3r ATM-PNC to R8r ATM-PNC

Preparation
Table 4-1 lists the installation items that must b e c omp leted  and  the eq uip ment or 
materials availab le b efore starting  the up g rad e p roc ed ure. We assume that in 
DEFINITY ECS Release 6.3r or later with ATM-PNC that the ATM switc h and 
interfac e c irc uit p ac ks are installed  and  ad ministered .
Table 4-2

This sec tion d esc rib es the p roc ed ures for up g rad ing  a DEFINITY ECS with 
c enter stag e switc h (CSS) and  no p revious ATM ad ministration to a Release 8 
ATM-PNC. You need  sep arate ATM interfac e c irc uit p ac ks (TN2305/TN2306) for 
eac h use. 
NOTE:
You c an also up d ate a DEFINITY ECS with d irec t c onnec t to ATM-PNC. 
Follow the p roc ed ures in Table 4-3
 and  Table 4-4, but skip  the step s 
involving  removing switch nod es and  switc h nod e interfac es.
The basic upgrade process is to
nUp g rad e DEFINITY ECS to Release 8r (refer to up g rade b ook)
nMake sure all eq uip ment is on site b efore the installation
NOTE:
Make sure the ATM switc h works b efore p roc eed ing .
nRemove the c urrent PNC and fib er links first from the standb y c arrier then 
the ac tive c arrier on a PPN, if a dup lic ated  system
nRemove the PNC and  fib er links from the EPNs
nAd minister ATM switc h on DEFINITY ECS
nPower d own the c ab inets, then remove TDM b uses
