DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 ATM Installation, Upgrades, and Administration 555-233-124 Issue 1 April 2000 Administering ATM-PNC and ATM-CES 5-13 Administering DEFINITY ECS 5 11. Set the sync hronizationSe t t h e Synchronization Capable field to n (default). NOTE: Up to 44 b oards may b e d esignated sync hronization c ap ab le on R8r and 3 b oard s on R8si, R8c si, R8c. If you enter y in this field when the maximum numb er of b oard s has been d esignated , the system returns: Maximum number of Synchronization Capable boards already administered NOTE: If this ATM trunk c ircuit p ack is a synchronization sourc e, set the field to y. If you c hang e the field to n when the circ uit p ac k is ad ministered as a sync hronization sourc e, the system returns: Cannot remove synchronization source. 12. Ad minister the signaling groupTy p e add signaling-group and p ress Enter. The Sig naling Group sc reen (Screen 3-3 ) d isp lays. Set the following field s (tabb ing g oes vertic ally) 13. Set the g roup typ e Set the Group Type field to atm. 14. Typ e p ort ad d ress Typ e the D-channel (sig naling c hannel) p ort ad d ress for this new signaling group in UUCSSppp sc reen at (3-dig its required for port addresses). This address must match the slot and p ort numb er on an ATM-Interface circ uit p ac k. 15. Type a name Typ e a name in the Name field (15 alp ha-numeric c haracters). 16. Set VPI The Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) field is set to 0 and is not ad ministrab le. Table 5-8. ATM-CES administration — Continued ÖStep Action Description Continued on next page
DEFINITY ECS Release 8.2 ATM Installation, Upgrades, and Administration 555-233-124 Issue 1 April 2000 Administering ATM-PNC and ATM-CES 5-14 Administering DEFINITY ECS 5 17. Set VCI Set the Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) field (32-1023). This numb er must b e uniq ue among sig naling g roup s that share the same ATM c irc uit pac k. NOTE: For a d irec t c onnec tion (two fib er-connec ted CES circuit p acks), sp ecify the same VCI at b oth end s of the emulated c irc uit. When the CES is connected to an ATM switch, the VCI spec ified here must matc h the VCI used for the PVC c reated on the ATM switc h, whic h is typ ically provided by the ATM switch ad ministrator. NOTE: The Signaling Mode field is set to isdn-pri and is not ad ministrab le. 18. Set id le c od e Set the Idle Code field (typ ic ally 11111111). 19. Set interface compandingSe t t h e Interface Companding field (alaw or mulaw). Onc e ad ministered , b usyout the signaling g roup b efore c hanging . 20. Set c ountry p rotoc ol Set the Country Protocol field (Table 5-9 ). 21. Set p rotoc ol version Set the Protocol Version field (Table 5-9 ). 22. Set c irc uit typ e Set the Circuit Type field (T1 or E1). NOTE: Both end s must be the same. It is p referab le to set it to E1 even in the United States, Canad a, or other T1 countries. 23. Set c onnect Set the Connect field to pbx. Once ad ministered , busyout the signaling group before changing. 24. Set interface Set the Interface field to user at one end of the emulated c irc uit and to network at the other end. 25. Set DCP/analog bearer capabilitySe t t h e DCP/Analog Bearer Capability field to 3.1 kHz. 26. Set internetworking messag eSe t internetworking message field to PROGress. Table 5-8. Verify channel setting sGo to screen 2; Screen 5-7 displays. Dep end ing on the settings in step 18: nIf Circuit Type field is set at T1, then c hannel 24 is populated. nIf Circuit Type field is set at E1, then c hannel 16 is populated. Other d etails ab out D-c hannels: nAll ports for one signaling group must be on the same ATM circuit p ack (the same c irc uit pac k that the D channel is on). nThe D-c hannel p ort is never assigned to a trunk g roup. Bec ause they are all the same, the ad ministrator d oes not need to typ e in the c irc uit p ac k loc ation for eac h channel. nNo p ort can b e assig ned to more than one sig naling group. 28. Type p ort numb ers Ad d the p ort numb ers (minimum of 6) from the p ort-to-c hannel map p ing on sig naling g roup sc reen 2. Se e ‘‘Changing the port-to-channel mapping’’ on page 5-22 if you need to chang e any ad ministration. When finished , p ress En te r to save the ad ministration. 29. Ad minister the trunk groupTy p e add trunk-group trkgrpnbr and p ress Enter. Screen 3-5 displays. Table 5-8. ATM-CES administration — Continued ÖStep Action Description Continued on next page
