    .
Ad d itionally, WAN-PNC c onfig urations (more than one ATM switc h) req uire
ad d itional delay c onsid erations:
    1. Setting up an SVC throug h the PNC c an b e d elayed b y as muc h as 7 s,
    similar to an ISDN trunk.
    2. An SVC req uest c an fail, and this failure may not b e rec eived for several
    sec ond s.
    3. Paths throug h the PNC are not free (however, tariffing of these resourc es is

    ARS (Automatic Route
Selec tion)Route c alls based on the p referred (normally the least expensive)
route available at the time the c all is p lac ed.
    AAR and ARS Overlap
Sen d in gDetermines that if the c all is to be routed to another switc h over a
trunk with ISDN overlap sending, the system seizes the outg oing
ISDN trunk and starts send ing dig its while DEFINITY ECS continues
to collec t (receive) the remaining inc oming d ig its.
